Today, we unravel The Mystery Behind The Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and Cultural Village in the Volta Region of Ghana. I've been in the Volta Region for a while now and I've explored a couple of places including the Keta, Sogakope Bridge, Ho and here we are today at the afi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and Cultural Village. There's been numerous rumours that the monkeys were are the smartest in Ghana and can predict when some may die, well, let's go find out. Enjoy this little adventure.

The Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Wildlife Sanctuary is found at Boaben and Fiema, twin communities 22 kilometers away from the Nkoranza North District of the Bono East region, Ghana. The 4.4 kilometer square (km²) forest, believed to have been created in the 1970s, houses many trees, birds, reptiles, deer and monkeys, two of which are the Geoffrey's Pied Colobus and Campbell Mona monkey.
For the past 200 years, the Mona monkeys inhabiting the tropical forest surrounding the small village of Tafi-Atome have been protected because it was believed they were messengers to the gods. In 1996, the village began broader efforts to protect their forest and monkeys, as well as to offer tours for visitors.
As a result of these efforts, the monkey population has increased to about 200 and the forest, with its many species of birds and butterflies, has been preserved. The playful monkeys are wild but often come down very close to visitors.
Revenue from tourism has brought electricity to the village, as well as improvements to the school and a community clinic. (Trip Advisor)
