Yes the Spanish aren't fond of remembering the time of being enslaved and forcibly converted. Don't believe all the lies in this video. The Moors brought nothing good that didn't already exist in Europe. They stole knowledge from the Greeks and other European cultures, forced Christians to translate the texts to them to acquire said knowledge as well. There can't possibly be anyone dumb enough to believe that the Moors "introduced Europe to bathing" when bathhouses were invented in Europe long before Islam was even a religion.

Growing up as a Mexican in the American school system, California specifically we were taught that the Mexican is a mix of European and Native American. Then doing a DNA test as an adult I learned that I have, Arab, African, Jewish, European and Native American DNA. Our history in Spain was erased and remade to be white European catholic only. I guess that's what the Spanish inquisition was all about. The uneducated around me and my government still insist on putting me in a box that makes them feel comfortable but I know who I really am now and am enjoying learning about my history.

    • @Movs.

No one erased anything buddy. Just because you went to crap american public school doesn't mean the rest of the world did. And in American post secondary they do teach this, so I can tell you don't have a degree in history. Blame your family for not educating you, not white people. White people aren't being taught that some European countries were invaded, forcibly converted and enslaved by Africans, would be the other side of the coin you don't seem to be seeing.

Not during my youth. Your school might have been lesser on the academic side of things. I went to public school in the U.S. and I was taught what you have aforementioned in DNA findings. I would refrain from generalizations. The United States is very diverse, more so than any country on earth, and we clearly continue to stride that direction. Mexico is a beautiful country. The citizens should fight for it. I can't imagine how amazing it would be ~a whole university class, just went missing without a trace, because of talking about the cartels. Clean your own backyard first perhaps? It's like the Middle East and complaints of women's rights there. The women THERE must make the change. Western culture isn't perfect, but people fought for their rights and change eventually happened.

By the way, the knowledge the Moors "brought" wasn't brought at all. They stole that knowledge from texts already existing in Europe, they forced Christians to translate it for them. All they did was use already existing Greek etc knowledge and claim credit for it, then convert the beautiful churches into mosques. It took the Europeans hundreds of years to drive them out. Why do you think they would have done that if the Moorish invasion was so great? No one wants to be invaded, stop justifying it just because it was happening to white people.

Overall just a terrible video for misrepresenting facts, and acting like an invading army that forcibly converted the native citizens was a totally great thing. There's a reason the Europeans fought back and got them out. Why would they do that if the Moors were such a "light" in a dark time? Because they weren't. They were enslaving women and children as sex slaves too, how great of them. Love how this video casually glosses over the fact the Africans would take ships up to Europe to find white women to r*pe. The Alhambra palace is one of the world's great wonders of Architecture, with its interconnected collonaded open courtyards, and a sense of sensual life among gardens pools and fountains. Truly a high point in civilization at the time. Contrasted with the circular palace built by the conquistadors, in the same place. A cold austere lifeless structure. Unfortunately it has become an icon in Spain's mass tourism industry.

The Palacio of Carlos V is actually very interesting and very impressive: a circular building. But it is more of a military and administrative structure, while the Alhambra was used as the actual palace. Cold, austere, lifeless? After 800 yeas of reconquest they were in no mood to be frivolous. Boabdil might have been wise to have spent more time building "austere", "lifeless" defenses. As his own mother put it to him on their way out: "Cry like a woman for what you could not defend as a man"....ouch.

Because Catania is a city on the island of Sicily. Sicily although in close proxity to Italy, it is not attached to the mainland of Italy. They are 2 different locations but in close proximity. Hence the birth of Los Morenos/the Moors/the brown/brunette/darker skinned people. Which gives rise to the Latin (Latin meaning Spanish Italian French & Portuguese) saying "tall dark/brown/brunette and handsome"
That specific location alone with the arrival and residence of Los Morenos/The Moors is all the proof necessary. Everything else is 700 yrs of additional evidence of the Sicilians today

The Sutton Hoo helmet in your first images is Saxon. I'm having research issues connecting the Saxon to the Moor.

Yeah many children were savagely killed on city streets
Women were raped and killed or sold into sex slave trade. This video leaves out all the evil parts to sell u a false picture
