Top tips as always from Rob. Defo cut your shockleader off to length rather than trying to thread the full spool thro’ the loop, it’s a lot easier. Tight Lines Steve Amison 👍🦆🎣
Allways used the four turn waterknot. Since last summer I use a figure of 8 knot. You get a small and strong knot an you have to pass the shockleader and the tag only one times!
Rob. You making life a bit hard for yourself. Your tying a 'water knot' right? I have crap eyesight and clumsy fingers so I struggled with the more complex leader knots (for lure or coarse fishing) when 'on the bank' especially in cold weather. I thought there must be an easier way. Simple technology was my friend. The Daiwa Sokkou knot tool. This tool creates a ''Seaguar knot'. You can tie this by hand or with the aid of some forceps. I've done that too. The Seaguar knot is almost identical to a water knot. Both lines are entwined in 3-6 turns but you only have to pull the length of the whole leader through once.
There is. But I find them so tricky to tie, especially when you’re on the bank, I know some really good lads who use this knot for ease and it hasn’t let me down yet.
Fantastic advice as always Mr Wootton. My go to knot thanks to your demonstration on the EDGE at Staunton Harold, never broke off yet. Great stuff 👏👏👏

Used to use the albright knot until steve ringer showed his loop and knot meathod been using that ever since never let me down
Used to use this water knot but I like to use ringers. Small overhand loop and then a tucked half blood knot.
A great and simple way of doing it. I used to tie it this way but didn’t like the way the little tag of the mono stuck out
Maybe make a bigger loop and pass the spool through, then wind on the right amount on the reel to suit the rod length.
Tried it, sometimes it doesn’t go to plan though

Isn't it easier to pull through the spool instead of 30ft of line?

Much stronger knots than that. Alberto, Albright, Yucatan……….etc
