- This video shows a form of the Shooting Crane (MingHe Quan) taught by the Fuzhou master: Wú Xiánguì (呉 賢貴), Go Kenki in Japanese, naturalized Yoshikawa (1887-1940).
Being an expert on Wushu he came into contact with the world of Tudi (karate) of Okinawa. During the day he worked, while in his spare time he taught the techniques of MingHe Quan to students including: Aniya Seishô, Yabu, Medoruma, Sagara and Matayoshi.
The MingHe Quan program included the following forms: Babulien (Papuren), Ehershibasu (Nepai), Chun Kang, Ju Jie and Qi Jing, in addition to some some sparring techniques.
Wú Xiánguì also had the opportunity to train with important Okinawan practitioners of the time, including: Miyagi Chojun, Kyoda Jûhatsu, Mabuni Kenwa and also a young Matayoshi Shinpô.
The two main forms, Babulien and Ehershibasu, were taught by Wú Xiánguì to many people. The third form, Chun Kang, was used by Wú Xiánguì to create a kata with technical modalities more similar to Okinawan karate (Hakkaku). There is no evidence that Wú Xiánguì taught, in Okinawa, the most MingHe Quan advanced forms: Ju Jie and Qi Jing.
This video shows a comparative study between the original Ehershibasu form and that derived and taught in Shito-ryu, Nipaipo.
