How to Style Chinos for Spring/Summer

- In this video, I'm just having a little fun showing you how I might be styling my chino's this spring 2019. I'm using two colors, gray and light blue from Goodfellow & Co. that I picked up recently.
Everybody might not agree with all of my outfit ideas, but I hope at least you can pick up a few ideas you can use this spring.
I'll leave some brand info to some of the items I'm showing below. I may not be able to find everything, but I'll try.

You May not realize it, but you have been a godsend for those of us over 40. All we have had up to now is Alpha M and modest man and a bunch of young kids in their 20s. I also appreciate how humble and down-to-earth you are. Thank you so much for taking time to do these videos

Agreed Phillip. I enjoy that a regular dude can show style that works for him with easy to collect pieces rather than uber expensive items. I have to say though, I'm not a watch geek but I would seriously look to upgrade those watches. I think it has been said before in other videos, but lots of options in the price ranges you've talked about to get better quality time pieces at the equivalent cost. Keep up the good work.

THIS is the reason why I wear chinos 99% of the time. For one they’re comfortable AF. You can dress them up and by simply swapping out shirts/shoes you can dress them down. These things are a godsend for men over 40 and this video proves it. Great job man!

Back in my twenties I wouldn't have blinked an eye charging a $150 D&G t-shirt on my Neiman Marcus card. Now in my 40's I love Target and shop there all the time. Style is more about your individuality and not about a label on your clothes.

That's def true but there is something to be said for wearing "Certain" companies that are known for making high quality threads even if they're commercial brands.
John, pls continue this style of video. You’re very natural when it comes to fashion...plus your body moves and choice of music give extra horse power on the viewing effect. I find it so cool and rejuvenates me every time I watch it. This sets you apart from the masses...👍

I've never cared for chinos because I have always found they tend to collect lint, but after watching the video I decided to give them a try again. I am glad I did. I took your advice and bought some dark navy chinos from Target. Been using them for about about 3 weeks now and I have found them to be an excellent choice for casual wear. In the past I've always worn jeans, so it is nice to have an style option.
What the heck is a chino?? Til now I still can't grasp it

Thank you. I have never been very "fashion forward". However I take pleasure in dressing sharply and the proper fitment of my clothing. However, being aware of what works, or doesn't work, or fits the occasion type of thing. This showed simple outfits and combinations of things that just work. Plus, I am appreciative that you show attire that is appropriate to our age group. It doesn't look stuffy, it is appropriate. It is not, something I hate, trying to make us look 20 again. Yet, it does not make us look dead lol. Perfect.
I am 54, and have always considered myself to be rather fashionable/stylish, and I have gotten so much out of your videos. I just discovered your videos and I have been trying to catch up on everything. I especially like what you had to say about shoes in a previous video. I wear a size 13, and up until the last 10 years or so it has been very hard to find stylish shoes in my size, but recently I have been able to really expand my shoe collection. I have to agree with Mark Wagner, you are one hot daddy, except I am older than you. LOL
I just sent it over to 15 friends of mine all over 40 and most over 50 in our men's club...we tee off at 7am but this video could help are future game! Great Job!

I never thought I would love chinos. After watching this, I bought 5 pairs of chinos from gap. I lost weight as well which made me daring to try on chinos. I was shocked to see I can wear them nicely. I am ready for my summer look. No more buying of pants for this year. Thank you! ❤️😀🙏🏽🌹

What I forgot to mention is that. You mentioned that you got them at Target. Fantastic ! All these others out there seem to think you must only shop at specialty tailor shops and high end online outfits. Target is great, and you are keeping it real. They look great. Thank you.

Mr. 40, after checking out your video on Chinos yesterday, I decided to shop at Old Navy and Target to try on and purchase some Chinos. Never thought they were for me, but gave them a try anyway. We share similar size and physiques. Went to Old Navy first and tried on their slim Chinos at $49.99 and was disappointed. The crotch hangs a bit lower than I like, and the price was a bit stiff for not being to my liking. I decided to pass on them but kept them in mind for comparison . Next stop, Target! Tried on their Good Fellow & Co. Chinos at $22.99 and fell in love with them. The fit, material, crotch length, and price was perfect (compared to Old Navy's,) and wound up buying 4 pairs. Love the price and the way they fit. Now I have some nice options for spring and summer! Thanks for the tips! Great Channel. The Breeze........................

I think the Gray Chinos hit the mark. They seemed to go with everything, whereas the Blue looked a bit iffy at times. ...Time to buy those Chinos

I haven't worn high tops since I hit 30, but I have no problem with other people wearing them into their 30's, 40's, and beyond. To each their own.

Keep up the good work! I respect your style. It’s kinda hard being 41 this day and age not knowing how we look from someone else’s point of view. If it weren’t for you I’d be wearing loose jeans and a Star Wars t-shirt. I’d like to be respected at this age and sometimes we can’t really see ourselves.

Goodfellow are the only Chinos I buy. I have grey, black, Navy, Olive, Khaki. Inexpensive and hold up well
Grey Chinos with Black Polo and white shoes is on point. Blue looked more casual. Cheers!

I'm 62 and usually told I look to be in my 40's or early 50's so I can pull off a whole myriad of styles. I always try to remain dressed in a classic style. This because fashion styles come and go but being classic is always acceptable.
I'm 62 and at times fail to hit the proper keys on my phone when texting. Ive been told I look in my late 40's early 50's at most and in general dont change with trendy styles as they come and go like a cool breeze on a hot summer night . I think if we dress with classic looks and appropriate for what we are doing and where we are at the moment we shan't ever have any wardrobe issues unless of course we are dressing to look to young or out of order .

Liked the gray chinos the best. Seemed more versatile and can wear different colors of shirts and shoes and make it work. Blue chinos seemed a little more limited but I liked them also.
Seriously, it was really nice to see the watches either matching the shoes or the belt, which is appropriate. My high compliment goes to the first belt, red and black strip, matched the citizen watch military band. Any body else catch that. Awesome detail. I do go as far as wedding band metal and color match the watch. OCD here, apologies.

Same here Ivory.. I just bought the Ne(x)t level slim straight jeans from AE and they fit like a glove. I ordered a 2nd pair and I'm chucking all my Levi's.

Great video John! Chinos: the Pants that Time Forgets. Timeless, stylish, often we guys get lost on 'what the hell do I wear with these damn things?' and this breaks it down brilliantly. Also too I agree completely: Goodfellow & Co. is hands down a GREAT brand! Picked up some pieces even a pair of jeans (and I'm an Adriano Goldschmied, 100 dollar plus for a pair of jeans kinda guy) and you know: the Goodfellow & Co are JUST as fantastic and durable.Same w/ their chino's in comparing them to AG's five pocket stretch pant. Just as great a look and very comfy and doesn't break the bank. Keep the content coming, J. :)

Good styles here. nice shoe selection, accessories, and good demo of different looks. However, in my opinion , and speaking in general, the short sleeve should break just above the elbow (like at 6:42) is the way to go. Any higher then it starts to look a bit awkward but to each his own. Lots of guys want to show off their guns but save that for the sports looks. Also, denim jackets can be a hit or fail depending on the occasion but it is very comfortable.
Every time I wear my Varvatos double monks,I feel like a Boss!
All shirts looked better tucked into to the trousers. I still believe that the jean jacket is a bit too small, especially with the cuffs rolled up. The chinos are nice and well matched with the shoes presented, especially like the brogue brown/tan oxford shoes. I would like to see more clothing styles for the larger man, 6' 240lbs, what can you present for this model man?

Running to Target and checking out those chinos. All combinations looked great especially with sport jackets. I like that you could go from hangout casual to business casual with different choice of shoes and accessories. Personally not a fan of jean
jackets. Definitely gave me some ideas to upgrade my style of shirts , getting little tired of polos. Being an avid golfer , nice touch with the club.

I used to watch Alpha M, but his channel became a vehicle for advertising his products, there's nothing wrong with that, but he spends half of the time pitching his products than focusing on fresh ideas on how to look sharp and well put together.

Only complaint I have is the contrast of the jeans jacket with the light blue chinos. I bet a darker jeans fabric would look better. Rest of the outfits are killer
