Cheers for these episodes mate. I got given, for free, a 97 GS500E non starter by a guy from work. 2000 miles on the clock and 1 previous owner. Been sat in a moist garage for many years. The last time it was on the road was pre digital mot database. I've got no knowledge of bikes and never riden one so this has the potential to be a good journey for me to go on with it. Your videos are answering many questions that I have. You don't sound too far away either, I'm in Hereford. Keep up the good work

@@BareBonesMotorcycles not far at all! I appreciate the offer. The plan is to get the engine running first. Then ill strip it down and restore it. Whilst a complete restoration would be ideal, im liking the look of some scrambler style bikes. All black would be nice. Im sure ill be hassling you with a few questions in the near future. Thanks.
      Rory.

G'day mate from Australia - Tackling the same job myself on a 1990 GS (gonna put it on Historic Rego 😎) Enjoyed your no nonsense vid but thought I'd mention how carb cleaner can damage your diaphragms - Always best to take them out first before you start spraying it into the carbs - Cheers Mark

Bloody knew l recognised it - l was right on the border of Herefordshire - Town called Hay on Wye - Very unique accent around there all along the Welsh/England border.

Good vid, and I can’t believe you couldn’t remember the word “nipple” 🤣. Anyway, those boot washers are definitely restrictors, so leave them out on re assembly, and I suspect the split boot was the reason for the no firing issue in the first place as that must have been vacuum leaking somewhat.

Totally agree, how could i forget nipples with a baby in the house lol! Yea a bet the mixture was 99.9% air lol. Thanks for the support. 👍👍

Привет! У меня gs 500, 99', перестал работать левый цилиндр. Перед этим с карбюратора потёк бензин. Скорее всего проблема в карбюраторе?

Enjoyed that as always Rich. Thanks for making that one more in depth 👍...Bad luck on the rubber boot mate, but such is life I guess. What's you're thoughts on liquid gasket when putting the boots back on?.. I read on a forum that the gs boots are prone to not sealing very well against the intake manifold so some people recommend using a bit of liquid gasket to help them seal...what do you reckon?..I'll be tackling mine soon, wish me luck. Hope they turn out as well as my white dials did ha ha 😁.. Oh, and I'm sure you're right about the washers, they definitely look like restrictors to me too. Atb kidda, Mark

Yea ive heard the same, but ive got a plan to try first to see if they seal. I like to avoid liquid gaskets when i can to be honest, but sometimes you just have too. Im 100% on those things being a restriction kit now, and apparently, garages charge over 100 quid to fit them! Insanity. Thanks for the support. 👍👍
