- In an attempt to keep busy at home during the Covid-19 quarantine, I decided to build a cardboard dulcimer kit from backyardmusic.com. These are great kits and I highly recommend them for anyone just starting out on their dulcimer journey and/or to have fun building this inexpensive kit.
The sound is great, I love it.
Fun. Thanks for sharing. I love playing the dulcimer. I have two. But I love this idea.
Wow. Pretty sounding cardboard instrument.
Sounds great!
Nice video. I found a couple off ebay, one that had never been assembled and one that had been but the box had been badly beaten up. I assembled the one with the cardboard box, took the fret board off the damaged one and made a cigar box dulcimer both are quite nice and functional, together with the cigar boxes I have two dulcimers for under $50.
Nice! I like the gentle sound and your nice playing style! Oh, and I also like the color and decorations!! What a wonderful video!
That gave me some well usable inspiration to start my cardboard hummel project. Thanks!
Yours looks great. My first dulcimer was an apple creek. It was only 50 bucks. I have a dulcimer now that is objectively better, but I still love (and play) my apple creek.
Real neat, I'm going to have to make me one :)
Phil Cooke It’s a fun little project!
Thanks. I was wanting to get started but didn’t want to spend $$$ or get one of the “cheap” dulcimer shaped models. Looks like this could take you quite a long way in your learning

Jerin Lalichan Yes
@@KevinTeague can i use nylon strings for dulcimer ?
Jerin Lalichan Typically, a dulcimer needs to be purposefully built for nylon strings. There are a few dulcimer builders out there who do that.
@@KevinTeague oh.. Thank you 😊
