      @STARTtoSOLD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ranksbanks248 Hi Ranks Banks - are you wanting to start a DRY or RTD/LIQUID tea company? $30,000 can get you started for sure. It's easier in dry tea than RTD but the challenge is that as you grow you will need more cash! I think I'll do a quick video about this because I get questions constantly like this. If cash is limited - it's not a problem or reason to not start, it just means you need to plan to grow slower and scale carefully so you always remain cash and revenue positive. What are you thinking specifically of starting?

  • @Shayvideos1
    @Shayvideos1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video!! Question, so say you do begin working with a manufacturer and get your product into a grocery store, what happens if all of those cases aren't selling? Is there a time frame giving by the store and will future shipments be put on hold until the previous cases starts to move?

    • @STARTtoSOLD
      @STARTtoSOLD  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Shayvideos1 The retailer will tell you the "terms" what happens if it wont sell. But the process is usually this: 1) force you to give discounts (meaning you loose money on your original PO... they charge it back to you as a fee) or 2) they will charge you to dispose of it or return it. Disposal is usually cheaper.
      You can ask them up front their desired turn rate. There usually isnt a fixed one like a written number, its based on their category expectations.
      This is why it's SMART to grow slow. Start in smaller retailers... learn how well you sell and where. And then get into larger retailers. It helps you minimize losses and know when to say NO to a retailer that wouldnt be a good fit.

    Hi there! I have 2 questions: do you have any advice for someone looking to break into ready to drink alcoholic drinks? Also do you have any recommendations for connections in Texas (Dallas/Ft. Worth if possible)?
    Thanks for your time and expertise.

    • @STARTtoSOLD
      @STARTtoSOLD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Tranise: It's a hard to break into this category - you need a specific type of distributor. With alcohol it's a great idea to focus LOCALLY - in one region OR one large store chains so that you can start to get brand awareness. I hope that helps you start your adventure! Keep me posted! Thanks again for the question.

    I went ahead and researched Nor-Cal Beverage. They have a zero star rating on Google and Yelp. The comments from truck drivers and former employees says it all. I would never give this company my business based on what I read about them from others. Much better companies that can provide co-packing.

    Hello. This video was a bit difficult to hear. My wife started a tea business here in DFW area. So far for the 1.5 years open, she has scaled to a few locations here locally. I was trying to figure out how we can scale this even further. We do everything. She's been featured on Dallas Observer and another Dallas article/news source. This has helped but I'm trying to come up with a solution where if we are not there it'll still function.
    Is it possible if we connected via email?
    Thank you!

    How much do you need to launch a startup energy drink?

    • @STARTtoSOLD
      @STARTtoSOLD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      To start (if you want it in cans) you will need approx $100k but Pete Grego (interviewed here) is of the opinion that to scale quickly you need $500k. Because as DEMAND increases (i.e. if you get an order for a big retailer) you need MORE inventory. So imagine you spend $100k on the first run... you put that money upfront and it takes 1-3 months to make the packaging and get your product run... then you have $100k in inventory and need to sell through it (meaning you have no cash). If it takes 6 months to sell through then you need to place another order BEFORE you have received all the cash so you need another $100k to do another run before you run out.
      Product business (being launched in a large scale into retail) is a cash flow game.
      The other option is start on a smaller scale - with factories that will take smaller minimums but be more expensive. And plan to grow slower in smaller stores regionally. Once you're selling well there you can raise the extra money to launch in a bigger way.
      I hope that helps.

      @@STARTtoSOLD Thanks for being one of the few with these types of videos who doesn't say, "Contact us for a consultation," lol. I think you gain more credibility by putting the pricing info out there directly. I was just watching the guy speak deliberately and slowly and said, "Yep, no less than 100k" haha. Glad to see my instincts are on point.

    • @STARTtoSOLD
      @STARTtoSOLD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@obsidianstang6296 Thanks @ObsidianStang for noticing that I do that. I agree with you - I prefer people who say things up front about pricing too. Makes me trust they will be honest all the way through. FYI there are some beverage manufacturers that will make product runs for less but they obviously charge a lot more so your finished product is harder to make money on. The best bet is to search "small run contract beverage manufacturer" - closer to your area so you can actually visit the factory will be best for you in terms of QA and getting what you actually want. I wish you good luck on your project!
