Hmm, I'm definitely a low brass guy, but have messed around with a cheap Mendini trumpet back during the shutdown just for kicks and have been contemplating upgrading, but hadn't been fond of the tone. Had wrote it off as just being how trumpets sound vs tuba/euphonium and started pondering a flugelhorn, but this heavy trumpet manage to run less than the horns I've been looking at.
I understand costs are a hinder with some instruments, but do you think a video on the most budget friendly yet decent euphonium? I'm shopping around for one but am having a hard time finding one with good reviews for less than $750.
@@TrentHamilton I’m turning 50 in April and this will be my gift. Never played but am starting to learn on a cheap Conn knock off, seized slides etc. This is a beautiful instrument. PS long time guitarist, starting jazz guitar and am now obsessed with trumpet, Wynton, Miles…et.al😁 great review
@@kevinelliott5823 Hi Kevin, if you can spring the extra, I'd recommend the Jean Paul TR-860, quite a lot more expensive, but also far nicer than this.
@@TrentHamilton this is just the perfect “look” I’m after. I know, superficial but, not looking to be a pro😁…yet. I also love the idea of it being less bright (sound as well as finish)
@@TrentHamilton after a week on my ‘71 Conn beater I’ve reconsidered and will research more. The 860 is in first place right now😁 Thanks for the tip. I would, however, prefer something less flashy. Any other suggestions?
How is tenor trombone in brass band different from something like an orchestra or a big band? I know that different trombones are used in different situations. An example would be orchestras and some concert bands use large bore trombones while in a jazz band or a commercial setting you would use a smaller bore instrument. Are larger bore trombones used more, or smaller ones? Also, how does the parts for tenor trombone differ from the baritone parts in a brass band setting?
Could you make a video showing or reviewing any plastic or cheap euphonium? Aren't there any plastic french horns either? I'd like to try out one of these instruments. What draws me back from the euphonium is the possible weight of the instrument being not a big guy.
At least, at the very beginning of the video, I 100% disagree. I would argue that you would want a brighter sound for Classical music, and a mellow, softer, darker, sexier sound for jazz music. Of course it depends what youre playing though.
what do you think is the best trumpet under 500 i dont care how it looks i just want it to be good and i play in a band so ya right now im using a cheap 100 doller trumpet
At only $350. This horn seems more than adequate for a student or intermediate player. I can't wait for the Chinese companies to start making double French horns for low prices.
I’d wait awhile on those for sure lol, I imagine u buy some of the first ones out and they’ll have massive issues. Chinese horns are just now starting to be okay compared to an USA, English, French, or German horn that has twice the playability and are made a lot better
It looks similar to Carol Brass' trumpets, and the case looks similar to those that carry Bach branded horns. I'm very surprised by the pricing on this too. Would you pass this as a suitable substitute to purchasing a trumpet via a music store? I work in a music store and I've had several families come to us with off/obscure/no-branding instruments that are just awful in quality, and almost impossible to repair no less. What say you on the subject?
Hello, I am a 15 years old trumpet player ! I'm a beginner (I first started playing around 3 to 2 years ago...But I haven't played for a long time at all, due to mental health reasons I had to get rid of my trumpet, and stop playing for nearly two years. So i'm basically I guess starting back from zero), and this trumpet has always been my dream one. My family is low on money, and since Christmas is coming soon I was thinking of buying a new trumpet for Christmas to start again. I was thinking I'd buy my dream trumpet to kind of motivate myself, but would you recommended this trumpet for a beginner ?.. I remember my old teacher telling me it wasn't the best choice for me, a beginner, to buy it, because it was probably not that good either. Why is that so ?
Would you mind reviewing the Levante LV-TB5415, its a cheaper Bb/F trombone but I cant find a review anywhere online, but the trombone is almost everywhere.
I'd like a comparison with an old Conn. You can grt a lot with $350. Why can't the Chinese make something high quality instead of cheap patent infringed disposable junk?
Really just for $500? How does it compare to the much more expensive professional models like Bach and others? Or even compared to an old Bach Strad from like the 60s with the lacquer all gone?
In other words, why spend $3,000 on a Bach LR180S-43 Stradivarius Professional Bb trumpet made in the USA, when a "magnificent specimen" of a "gorgeous classical trumpet" SDTR-2019HD that sells for a mere $350 made in China will suffice. 👌 😉 🎺 🎶🎵
You'd want to spend the money on a Bach if you need all the performance you can get out of a trumpet. Give a student a bach and this and they'll not notice any major difference, but give a pro a bach and this and they'll notice a much more important difference.
I was just waiting to hear him say it was: "Sixy"… 😆

with the various width pipes here and there, it looks like someone home built it from brass plumbing supplies
Yeah Chinese horns are still aren’t as good as a name brand in most cases you can usually see it in the finishes
@@bruhsoundeffect8455 The Bach Prelude line is made in China. I was a contractor there. Also, Jupiter is made in Taiwan.
Hey Trent, how long do you think the combined tubing from all your instruments would be?
Idk I really like the more industrial look to the brass and the case give this instrument a cool aesthetic
I just checked both links provided in your description, you can buy this specific trumpet from both links even if you're in the US

That whiney at the end was amazing
I'm sure he's played "Sleigh Ride" a few too many times. I have too, but on euph and tuba.

If you want a screaming lead trumpet, I'd probably recommend spending more than $350 :D
@ trent you said the fake bach was the best instrument you had played under $1000. How does this compare. Thanks.
This is better than the fake bach

isnt this horn the same as The Solista Z horn?
