They also have a silver one for like 450 that plays amazingly. Personally, I like it better than my friends stradivarius, but take that with a grain of salt because im a french horn player mostly
@@spamaccount1513 I'm also a Horn player like that, I use an 8D and a Kanstul as my main axes, but I usually used pro horns for that amount because it's better to have something more serviceable
I have a trumpet from this brand and I perform really well with it. The tone of the trumpet is amazing and the projection of the sound is amazing as well. The trumpet comes in a case with the trumpet itself, an instruction manual (for beginners), valve oil, and even a small cleaning kit. Trent is right as well, the tone of it is more leaned towards Jazz but it doesn’t mean it’s only limited to Jazz. Would recommend it to any trumpet player, from beginner to pro.
C H that’s most likely because they don’t take care of their trumpets, I can say with proper care and cleaning to the trumpet it’ll last a life time, I still have my trumpet from almost 5 years ago and it works like a charm. Sure things age and overtime they lose quality but again with proper care they’ll last forever. The fact that their trumpet only last three months really shows how poorly they take care of their instruments.
Different beast I know, but the Jean Paul student level alto sax got a very positive review from Jay Metcalfe on the Better Sax channel. These folks seem to know what they are about.
Bro strad is jus a name, I've owned and played multiple Bachs, and can honestly say the yamaha student 2330 plays equally as well, had a 74 ambassador which projected much better than my current 37, bro get a horn that has a great reputation, and one that feels great to you, but don't go name chasinf
Trent, I must say that I love your intros and outros so much! Can you please post a compilation of them so I can stop skipping from video to video just to hear them?
It may be "professional" but will it hold up in the long run? Will the valves wear out after constant use? Will they need constant oiling? Will the varnish or the plating stand up to holding for hours a day? The trumpet may be good out of the box, but what about after 6 months or a year?
@@cetologist It's worth it if they cherry pick the good ones -- and these days, it's probably a coin toss whether it's good or frustratingly unplayable for reasons you can't quite identify.
My silver jean paul is as good as new after about 200 hours of practice. He also has a lower end jean paul that he said has held up nicely Edit: They also have great customer service in the event that they have an issue. Also, I have had mine for over a year now for a reference
Gary Taylor, I have had a Jean Paul instrument for 3 years now and I can attest that they do really hold up against the elements, have had it through marching and concert seasons! Just keep up on baths
I bought my daughter the TR-800 from Thomann, which appears to be the same horn but with a single-radius tuning slide and standard lever water keys. Everything else looks the same. It's darker though. Really nice actually. Even cheaper than this Jean Paul.
Sounds like it would be a nice instrument for a skilled amateur, perhaps a high school or college student. Very affordable and eliminates the typical problems of student instruments.
I really wish some of the higher end professional trumpets would have more effort put into the aesthetics. This honestly looks better to me than a xeno or a strad (while a strad does have a little styling). You've really gotta spend many thousands on a custom trumpet, like a monnet, for it to look good, or go into cheaper stuff like this
It's very true that often the cheap trumpets can look nicer than expensive ones, but you can buy different finger buttons, get someone to add extra engraving and all sorts of things to modify an instrument.
Mine plays much better since I dropped three U.S. dimes into the bottom caps. It tightened up the slotting, which I felt it needed. (Your mileage may vary.)
Mines a yamaha beginner and the valves always stick even after oiling and sending it in to payland music like 5 times so I ordered this before the video and i hope its good
New Zealand is an out-of-the-way island where people mostly come and go from one airport/city. Not a good comparison with the US. The US death rate is much better than the UK, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and several other European countries. And the European countries have the advantage of being able to compartmentalize into smaller countries. There was never any travel ban going from New York to New Jersey or any other state.
different microphone recording configurations. when recording brass instruments, for it to sound nice and pristine like it does in this video, it requires different EQ presets than the typical default settings that are typically better for recording human voices.
Is there any chance that you could do this again with more useful detail on how the trumpet plays? We hear that it is a lovely instrument to play, and it does sound pretty good, but a more analytic apporoach to its playing potential would be useful. The "thoughts" of the professional (Bruce) that we were promised didn't amount to very much.
Hey Trent can we get a discount on this trumpet through you? I sent you a long msg about Chinese horns etc. but can’t find it anymore and I was basically asking that, Can you get us 10% off? Would certainly buy one if so.
Those Chinese horns and basically every horn from big companies get marked up more than just trying to make a profit. Chinese horns are the worst about it, harrelson trumpets had a live stream about it and said it’s like they sell them for 5 times what he costs to make one. In my opinion buy a used horn or something else bc one, trumpet sometimes don’t keep their value and 2. It’s a Chinese horn so techs may not wanna work on it, so buy a nice used horn for maybe alittle bit more
Agreed! For the same price as this Jean Paul, I was able to snag a beautiful 1999 Getzen Eterna 700 off of my local Facebook Marketplace Though, these Chinese brand horns can be helpful for parents who don't know how to navigate the used instrument marketplace Buying one of Jean Paul's student horns is a way better deal than renting from a music store, since you'll end up spending the same amount of money in a year or two just by renting At least with these horns they're of decent quality, and you own the instrument so you can always resell it or keep it as a backup where as with a rental you're just out of luck, and without knowing how to properly buy used, you could end up with a dud horn and waste more in repairs than you needed to
Jean Paul horns are made in China, yes, but so are many students models from "name brands" that are used everywhere. JP has distribution centers in the US, and each one is play-tested by pros who play these instruments. They come with a 1-year warranty and they have parts available for repairs, unlike most "chinesium" horns.

Loved 'The Cossack' at the beginning!!!
My DEG Signature from the 1980'ies has the same kind of lead pipe and tuning slide as well as water drain valve.

I was wondering the same, but it's probably an unanswerable question if he only has it temporarily for review.
Jean Paul trumpets are the exact same as other Chinese horns, just overpriced. Don't expect any better than any other $400 Chinese stencil horn.

Lol an Amazon basics Trumpet!? 😭☠️☠️☠️☠️🤣🤣🤣🤣
Urs must look really nice compared to my 🤬 up school trumpet😂😭
I play a cornnet in a Brass band and have always wished to play a trumpet in a local light orchester if ondly I had atrumpet

Good luck
mellophones are very temperamental and finicky, but they can really sing. good luck
You got this homie. Air, embouchure, and practice, and you'll have that thing singing in no time. Good luck!
I play mellophone for marching band, and french horn for Concert Band. Just remember loud and proud
how've you been doing on mello? havin fun on the objectively best marching brass instrument?

Thanks for the video. You sold me on this trumpet. Just ordered one. I'm a beginner. Looks like a quality horn.
funknfritter I see you‘re a man of culture aswell. ^^
Adams really builds great trumpets. I‘m so much in love with my A4.
Would you say that the TR-860 is worth paying twice the price for, when compared to the TR-430, for which you have also given a very positive review?
What do you think of the Jean Paul flugelhorn? My breathing is not like it used to be. thank you..

the auto subtitles thing thinks the intro is somebody laughing 😂
When will the new intro + outro come?
Which multi-track is the intro? I absolutely adore it and need to know which it is!
What was the name of the piece that he played after the intro?
The Cossack
Enjoyed the review, but I’m left wondering if you would choose this over the TR-430 for a daily player?
Yes I would, personally.

Just like elections and gun laws.
Well it is a small country with a small population and little tourism
And most of the us covid cases are inflated as in flordia got caught with inflating the case by 90%

Folks, Jean Paul trumpets are made in the USA, not China. The quality has been good 3 years later.
That is false.

Sounds like a pro horn in the low to middle register, then sounds like a very cheap student horn when you play above middle C, lmfao 🤣😭😭
The mouthpiece matters. I have this same horn, and it sounds big and fat up high with my mouthpiece.
