Say part 1= £1500 budget to cover guitar and pedals. To make it harder imagine it's for a venue who say "Do not bring amps, performers must use stage monitors and house speakers provided. Guitar to go into either 1) their house amp (a small 15W blackstar valve 8" combo in a mic'd enclosure using an SM57) or 2) their own XLR DI (probably something cheap like a Mooer Micro DI) but you can bring your own alternative DI if you want to use some of your budget on that. For part 2 same brief but a larger budget say £3.5k and a separate £1000 budget for an amp after you beat the venue into submission. However they say the amp has to be readily carryable by one person up a flight of stairs during changeover.
I just want to say, I've been going through a really tough time the last couple of months. As you two (D&M) know, my Pedal Dog, Olly, passed away a couple of weeks ago but on top of that my 80 year old grandmother broke her arm, my uncles cancer came out of remission and is much worse than it was previously, my partner has been out of a job so we've been struggling financially, I had a case of the shingles (which, I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy! So ruddy painful!!!) and my little sister is really struggling at secondary school with bullying. But this, today, has made me get up, out of my computer chair, and go and play some guitar with my amp turned on, and kick some ruddy effects pedals on! And I think that's just about the highest compliment I can give this video. So thanks to you two, Dan and Mick, and thanks to Pete and Lee. Great video.
I don’t know why life sometimes throws all the punches at once to us, but it sucks when that happens. I feel for you. I understand the pain. My best wishes. I hope things somewhat improve for you. Music can be a good medicine. Keep playing.

That was my very first thought, seeing his excitement at entering the room, and considering the volume and variety of equipment that he's around all the time. Very telling. The difference between a curated collection and a warehouse.

Not many TH-cam guitarists can match Lee’s progression over the past however many years it’s been. Bit of an inspiration to us slightly more “vintage” players that you’re never too old to learn.
I know this is an unorthodox opinion, and I'm probably alone in thinking it, but I'm not scared: a 1961 Strat and a real Klon into a 1953 tweed Fender Pro produce a sound that is good

The chemistry between these two is rare. When you get 3 or 4 guys together for a jam and this happens it' magic! Makes your whole week! And if you are blessed enough to put a band together with this chemistry you're golden.
BTW as a few happy comments have come up about the 1953 Pro Amp since Dan & Mick featured the amp in their videos… I got it from ”Strum” in Portland, Oregon before relocating back to the UK. Strum is like a relaxed bar/coffee shop that happens to adorn it’s walls with vintage guitars and a plethora of vintage amps at one end of the bar. The owner is a lot more relaxed about having such gear and beer for sale in close proximity than I would be ☺️ Cool place to visit if you pass near the old town area of Portland. I want to give a shout out to Matthew Miller too. He is the wonderful gentleman and amp guru in Portland old town area who serviced the amp straight after taking it from Strum. He pops up in some gear forums when people are looking for support in PDX. Matt advised it was clearly a good workhorse and he didn’t tweak much to ensure it will keep going for many more decades to come. Strum advised the amp was reputedly a machine being used weekly up and down the US before ending up as a house amp in a Portland club and finally being given up by previous owners. So despite what Pete commented in this video regarding reliability, like a well worn but seriously loved guitar, this amp and original 15” speaker just keeps on belting those tunes out. Thanks to strum and Matt Miller for their expertise and care in passing on this fab piece of history. I’ll be sure to treat it well until it’s next owner takes custody in what I hope will be the distant future. Cheers to tone 🍻

(Reminds me [cosmetically], too, of my late 50s Princeton, my first ever amp I got as a teenager in the mid-70s for CDN$40. ... Sadly, long since long gone...)

45:43 I know what Lee is talking about , I did some work in a Town House in Knightsbridge London and on one of the floors was a small room which had a dome shaped Ceiling and when you spoke it sounded very wierd , im sure there's a reason and a Science behind it , I thought it might of been a place for a Violinist or Classical Guitar Player to perform in .
wow that is what I was really missing from TPS and just couldn´t put a name on. You always have those nice sounds but never jam together (not with the full band but just you two (meaning mick and dan). No offense I really do love the show but hearing those nice sounds in context of a jam is something else.

You’re correct and the Moxie is a super great pedal, I have it. But it’s modded so it is same but different. I would love someone to do an exact copy of it (in another box). 🤘
@Peter Honoré I am honoréd that you took the time to reply. I love my Wampler Moxie. I use it with the fat switch on, gain very low, and switch between voices depending on humbuckers or single coils.
I think choosing gear at your wonderful estate would be so hard. If i had 1 week of being locked in there i think i would finally be able to choose after i tried out everything. 😂 Please lock me in your headquarters for a week. 😂🤣

Certain "tone" cannot be achieved at a "low" volume. Just yesterday I reconfirmed that my 1x12 combo simply CANNOT deliver "good" tone below 87-89 dB. My room , however, is better suited to 85 dB. So, yes, I NEED a bigger room even though my 1x10 Stereo rig sounds wonderful @85dB!
Would that be 10'10" for a 10" cab and 12'x12' for a 12'"cab? But most rooms here are 10-11' x 10-11' with 8' ceilings. A "studio" for even one Electric guitar may need a 12'x12'x12' room.
Best I have ever heard a Tube Driver sound and is on par with the obvious (Mr. Gilmour and Mr. Johnson). Mine just didn't work with my rig so got replaced with a Paige. Still, I don't sound as epic as you fine fellas! That works out b/c who cares besides us!
I bought a Nash S-57 strat-shaped object. It's a boutique guitar. When I took off the pickguard, I was somewhat surprised to find that the cavities were unshielded. I was very surprised to find that the wires coming from the pickups were also unshielded. I guess that's the way they did things in 1957. Since I don't like 60 cycle AC hum, I shielded all the cavities with copper foil tape. It made the single coils completely silent, even at high gain. I did not notice any difference in the tone other than the very low noise floor. Since my Les Paul Classic also has single coil mode (split coils) I shielded all the cavities in that guitar as well. That greatly reduced the noise floor in split coil mode, and was even a little quieter in humbucker mode.

I'm not an SG guy, nor am I a fan of the articifically aged guitars.....but damn that SG is beautiful. It's such a great colour, and that finish checking looks so artistic. Almost like a flame maple top at the right angle.
Firstly, Pete is a magician. Wow. Also, what a fun episode to just bring these two guys in here and let them mess around and have fun for a few hours. It wouldn't work every week, but every once in a while just having good musicians explore sounds with no other agenda is pretty damn cool.
Over the many years watching TPS and Andertons on YT I thought that I was watching to see more gear, but I've learned that its the friendships y'all have that kept me tuning in. I may still covet the gear now and again, but it brings me joy to see relationships like Mick, Dan, Pete, and Lee. That I may covet most. Always a pleasure watching your show.
Lee and his "alright come one than" And. "Yea but anyway....." He's can't get out of the "let's get some tones" and "sell sell sell, keep the video moving!...and short" mindset. I don't think he knows how to be thorough with guitar n gear amymore

After seeing the first episode with that Mesa rig I managed to find me a used 50/50 for dirt cheap. They’re out there if you look for them. Now the 2x12 with EV’s is another thing. They are nowhere to be found.

The Hot Cake is one of the best hidden gem pedals of all time. One of my favorite drive sounds ever.

I think that is the most relaxed playing I’ve heard from Lee playing on his own. Inspiring tones can really help you let go and play.
That strat straight into the 5e3 Tweed Deluxe with a bit of reverb is sooo good!

I spotted the Mule Sauce from Mule Stickers! That's actually pretty good stuff.
I'm not an SG guy, nor am I a fan of the articifically aged guitars.....but damn that SG is beautiful. It's such a great colour, and that finish checking looks so artistic. Almost like a flame maple top at the right angle.
Firstly, Pete is a magician. Wow.
Also, what a fun episode to just bring these two guys in here and let them mess around and have fun for a few hours. It wouldn't work every week, but every once in a while just having good musicians explore sounds with no other agenda is pretty damn cool.
Over the many years watching TPS and Andertons on YT I thought that I was watching to see more gear, but I've learned that its the friendships y'all have that kept me tuning in. I may still covet the gear now and again, but it brings me joy to see relationships like Mick, Dan, Pete, and Lee. That I may covet most. Always a pleasure watching your show.
The intro to this have me an idea: Couples Come Dine With Me for Guitarists! Channel 4 will go for it I'm sure.

Tell you what.... I would be willing to get on an airplane from Canada, pay the TPS experience thing... just to hear and play Mick's MesaBoogie epic rig. That alone is worth the price of admission.

After seeing the first episode with that Mesa rig I managed to find me a used 50/50 for dirt cheap. They’re out there if you look for them. Now the 2x12 with EV’s is another thing. They are nowhere to be found.

I think the TS stacked first into the Klon would have yielded more desirable results for Pete. Pushing the fatness of the Klon instead of cutting it.
