Yeah totally agree I would recommend allowing to over level when the trial starts because he amount of trainers that they make you fight in the Alola games plus the exp share it’s like they’re asking you to be over level’d
Honestly for the first Trial I thought passing the level cap was fair game. It physically wasn't possible for me despite turning off EXP Share (with a team of like, 3) due to all the mandatory trainers. If anything I actually think being slightly above the Totem Mon helps even things out somewhat, since you ARE often in a 1v2 (unless you OHKO said Totem). I still stayed reasonably leveled (like, 1-3 levels) for the Totems and Grand Trials for the most part. Although it didn't make sense for me to base a cap off Kommo-O's (when it went down after Hapu's), so I just went with hers. I did "Hardcore" rules (I quote loosely cause strict caps were hard to follow + I didnt remember S/M's flow cause it was YEARS and cutscenes are tedious lol) on Set, no items AND no Z-Moves from my side.
the fact that i played this game for so many hours and never realized you can get a Happiny on the first island much less a BLISSEY before you even leave?!?! that’s so cool’
My main showdown team back in the day was a pink team. Miltank, slowbrow, Mew, Slurpuff, Clefable, and a shiny furret. It sucked but I felt like Nurse Joy lol
This colorlocke early game hell takes me back to my only colorlocke! Pokemon Emerald Randomizer, themed Red/Pink/White, had a Seel (my starter) and a level 3 Magby in the party. First encounter on Route 102 was a useless Shiny Weezing, which I tried to catch. It blew up after I used my last ball, lost the Weezing and my starter. Hated everything.
That whole ordeal with Bruxish is one of the reasons I love the Ultra games, having access to items in the battle dome without having to do fights is so useful. You would only need to do 10/11 runs of Mantine Surf and you could get an Ability Capsule, or you can get the power items to do EV training.
You're now three for three on great holiday-themed challenge runs! I never knew that the pokedex had color listings for every pokemon, I'm going to need to try some color-restricted challenge runs myself. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I watched this video late, and after watching the Snorlax Battle, I remembered ADrive's buglocke of Brilliant Diamond where he must have sat for about 30 minutes or even more trying to kill Cynthia's Milotic but got half of his team knocked out in between. great to see some Lurantis love, I am a fan of it. used it in a playthrough once because I got crazy lucky and ran into a shiny one on total accident, currently the only wild shiny I've ever found.
Very interesting challenge! I loved that with it being a Valentine's challenge that all of the Pokemon were named after the text you see on "sweet hearts" candies. Also cool that you were able to use Pokemon that you wouldn't normally use and had to think up different strategies for the more challenging fights.
I love the diversity in the color challenges, maybe for theming, you can play each pokemon game that is named with a color with the color of that respective games(like Pokemon FireRed with only Red pokemon and pokemon Black with only Black pokemon). But this is a cool idea

So thank you for that reminder. It’s bittersweet, but it’s a good one. Miss you Mitchell, see you when I see you bud ❤️
Congratz on clearing this pink themed challenge for Valentine's Day! Very well done and edited; I honestly wouldn't have blamed you for putting down this game if it ended at Champ like that lol. Tho I also commend you for... 18 attempts. Might be a hot take, but I personally think Kukui is harder than Cynthia for a Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge lol. I BARELY got through him (he wiped 5/6 members of my team; Krookodile hard carried but I also felt that same relief after getting through that god damn Snorlax). I think Kukui is a LOT better at wearing your team down overtime (esp. with Stealth Rocks which are nearly guaranteed up since most of Alola's Mons are SLOW), and with the fact that most Alola Mons aren't fast, you DO have to risk crits/effects more since you can't just outspeed + KO them as easily. It also helps he's more likely to have the adv. in terms of EVs/IVs and I found that out the hard way when A-Ninetales outsped my Crobat. There's also the starter Z-Move to worry about, and he's got more than 2 Full Restores. Don't get me wrong; Cynthia's team is stacked and Garchomp is always scary (since crit from it will OHKO nearly anything) but you at least have 3-4 routes to get the Sneasel line so you at least have that at the safest answer to it (although you can't switch it in directly). But Kukui's Snorlax feels brutal to take down since Body Slam Para and coverage with High Horsepower means it usually can cover the physically sturdy Rock or Steel types; I can't think of any Fighting type you'd get (maybe Hariyama?) to OHKO it. I did ONE Sun Nuzlocke and I had to play outta my mind to get through him; despite most of my bad luck kicking in over THERE of all times (A-Ninetales froze 2 of my Mons, one of which was my Magnezone to hard counter it + Braviary) LOL.
I actually quite like those (you can even tell they're not actually made of chalk because if they did, I'd be 100% dead because I'm allergic to chalk), but yeah, I assume so. Personally, I think it would've been funnier and more clever to name them after songs from P!nk, the singer, but it's a Valentine's Day special, so I get why he didn't do that.
Love your work ethic for these frustrating challenges. Hope it doesn't become too much of a hassle to do because your commentary for these videos is fantastic!

You are my inspiration man i thought that pokemon sun is very hard and i never tried to nuzlocke this game Seeing you win this nuzlocke with these weak pokemon now I'm motivated.
Man, Nihilego-Lusamine is such a cooler, more messed-up final story boss than Ultra Necrozma in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. I'm sad she (and Looker's sidequest) aren't in USUM. But at least Dulse is cute for a weird pale spaceman and the Team Rainbow Rocket plot hit me like a 20 megaton nostalgia bomb and I loved it.
I have really been enjoying your different themes for challenge runs, always exciting to see what comes next. An idea that I had to throw into the pot would be only using pokemon that are a specific height or weight, say only pokemon under 1M.
Your funny little rant about cherishing the memories of someone who is in your life for a short time hit kinda hard. Had an online friend of mine go off the radar completely for nearly two months now, after he told me he had a bad headache. He hasn't been online anywhere, and he's the kind of guy who'd let me know when he needs a break or something. I just wish he'd come back frankly. I don't wanna think about what might have happened to him. I believe he is dead. And just before NYE, and just before I was about tell him how much I love him. I was too late, and I will always regret never actually cherishing the memories I made with him.
It's funny how I am able to watch almost 50 minutes of some internet guy playing through pokemon games with hardcore rules and theme based names for his mons. Keep up the great work! top notch quality!
Yeah You should definitely try more color nuzlocke there pretty interesting plus everyone and their mother has done Monotype challenges so this would be pretty different
Could've sworn Oricorio would be named Lovebird! Although I'm not done with the video yet so maybe there's still time LOL Loving this challenge so far, and I can't personally speak for anyone else but I think the first trial level cap thing is completely fine. Love the video, and really fitting theme too with the holiday theme. Though after listening to your pronunciation of certain pokemon....I'd honestly love to see a video where you read every single pokemon like that. Would be a nice mix of funny and painful for sure.

So thank you for that reminder. It’s bittersweet, but it’s a good one. Miss you Mitchell, see you when I see you bud ❤️
@@FlygonHG absolutely it did. It did make me laugh but also was very sincere. It came off just right.
I did ONE Sun Nuzlocke and I had to play outta my mind to get through him; despite most of my bad luck kicking in over THERE of all times (A-Ninetales froze 2 of my Mons, one of which was my Magnezone to hard counter it + Braviary) LOL.
fun to see that you're doing a color run! I've been doing a lot of these over the winter, they're surprisingly tricky but really fun.
flygon... did you name all the encounters after the text on those heart candies that taste like chalk?
I actually quite like those (you can even tell they're not actually made of chalk because if they did, I'd be 100% dead because I'm allergic to chalk), but yeah, I assume so. Personally, I think it would've been funnier and more clever to name them after songs from P!nk, the singer, but it's a Valentine's Day special, so I get why he didn't do that.
Love your work ethic for these frustrating challenges. Hope it doesn't become too much of a hassle to do because your commentary for these videos is fantastic!
Your commentary is literally the best, oh my lord. Two minutes in and I’m already dying
Oh man, seeing you get revenge on the Petilil at the end was hilarious. And you only brought Corsola with you just to do it, too.
Me and my dad are both locked home feeling sick, with a nasty suspicion it might be Covid. Seeing this pop up in my recommended brightens my day a bit. Keep up the good work, man.
Ouch, that intro hurt as someone whose birthday is Valentine's day... Excited to see another colorlocke, your vids are always a blast!
Love your personality in the videos! You're so calm but humor is always on point c:
This is the first video of yours that I'm watching. Subbed. I appreciate that you have a laid back style to your narration with good editing and interesting challenges. I think you're the first person I've seen do a color based hardcore Nuzlocke.
Looking forward to your next video!
Might be a silly question, but would shinies count for the color challenge? Like if you were playing a red monocolor challenge and caught a shiny magikarp, would you be able to use it? :o
Lovely video as always, hope anyone who’s reading this has a dreat gay!
I’ve only heard of mono type nuzlockes, never mono color. Would definitely like to see some more of them.
I absolutly loved this challenge I sometimes do some nuzlocks alongside friends and none of us had ever tought of this an are absolutly planning on trying this ourselves i hope to see more of this kind of challenge
0:36 For an aromantic like me it's a day for me to buy cheap chocolate
With you there too. Aro pride! ❤️

"This is the video of my attempts"
Ufffff, that plural...
Remember, it's very easy to love someone else, but the real hardcore nuzlocke is loving yourself
This sentence caused me excruciating pain
Definitely more color challenges. Type challenges are fun to watch, but themed challenges pose such different encounters and are fun to watch.
man i love your holiday nuzlockes so much. and whyd that hug me eulogy hit so hard... great job!!!
FlygonHG changes the view of my day so quickly. I spent half an hour trying to fix my setup, then I see this video and the all that time was worth it.
We all love what your doing and hope you keep at it!
Really enjoyed the mono-colored Pokémon run, especially the elite four and champion battle.
It’s interesting and creative; to see what Pokémon you’ll be able to use and how one has to work with that they have.
Hope you do more and keep up the good work.
This is the only game I've ever seen where luvdisc actually matters
you make, in my opinion, the most fun and rewatchable stuff on the internet. keep it up!
This run gave me so much respect for Wigglytuff and Exeggcute
Ugh. I needed this today. Thank you for posting another wonderful video. ♥️
I love this man's pronouncing for some things my favorite have to be Lapra and Leafage
Also make more mono colour challanges these are fun to watch
I love the speed up, especially in the E4 section
...Acerola just absolutely vibing in the background
always drop what i'm doing to watch these videos, love them!
I always love seeing the themed nicknames you choose for your Pokemon, they're so silly and you always say them with such complete seriousness
You are my inspiration man i thought that pokemon sun is very hard and i never tried to nuzlocke this game
Seeing you win this nuzlocke with these weak pokemon now I'm motivated.

"Drown the little simp" has the same energy as "burn the child" (-Grunkle Stan, gravity falls ep 15)
That was the most tedious playthrougg ever! Respect that you didn't scrap the challenge somewhere between 3-18 resets. Insane. Love the stories.
I'd love to see you do more mono-colour stuff. I find it more interesting than the mono-type ones.
“Lusamine becomes a lot less interesting to some parts of the internet” 💀💀💀
"You guys are colourblind! Look at it- it's not pink! It's more like a uh... like a lightish-red!"
"uh, that's called pink, tuck."
Love your videos, Flygon! You are a really inspiring person :D
I have really been enjoying your different themes for challenge runs, always exciting to see what comes next. An idea that I had to throw into the pot would be only using pokemon that are a specific height or weight, say only pokemon under 1M.
What a great video thank you for showing us flygonhg
Your funny little rant about cherishing the memories of someone who is in your life for a short time hit kinda hard.
Had an online friend of mine go off the radar completely for nearly two months now, after he told me he had a bad headache. He hasn't been online anywhere, and he's the kind of guy who'd let me know when he needs a break or something. I just wish he'd come back frankly. I don't wanna think about what might have happened to him.
I believe he is dead. And just before NYE, and just before I was about tell him how much I love him. I was too late, and I will always regret never actually cherishing the memories I made with him.
I love this color challenge!! I hope to see more, especially purple :3
It's funny how I am able to watch almost 50 minutes of some internet guy playing through pokemon games with hardcore rules and theme based names for his mons. Keep up the great work! top notch quality!
This was a fun run, I love the challenge. Also, love the names
I definitely know how good Corsola can be, it's actually got some great resistances, decent bulk, and some helpful moves.
Yeah You should definitely try more color nuzlocke there pretty interesting plus everyone and their mother has done Monotype challenges so this would be pretty different
I love these kinds of nuzlockes. Like dog pokemon only or only pokemon that begin with an A. So much more diversity than type only runs.
Just an idea, but a nuzlocke with only gimmicky pokemon would be interesting, like with gimmicky abilities or movesets
Corsola rep is always good to see. Loved the video, colourlockes are really interesting way of going about a challenge theme
Could've sworn Oricorio would be named Lovebird! Although I'm not done with the video yet so maybe there's still time LOL
Loving this challenge so far, and I can't personally speak for anyone else but I think the first trial level cap thing is completely fine. IMO it's impressive that you can do these challenges with such strict level caps in the first place, especially with starters like Luvdisc and Slowpoke :]
Love the video, and really fitting theme too with the holiday theme. Though after listening to your pronunciation of certain pokemon....I'd honestly love to see a video where you read every single pokemon like that. Would be a nice mix of funny and painful for sure.
I would love more "Color" teams
Over 20 years later and Corsola finally gets some recognition. I remember using one in my very first playthrough of Silver. I thought it had a fun type combo and kept it through to the end. I can't remember if it was super useful or not, but I always remembered it fondly being the odd one on my team back then
Had to make sure someone had said this. Exact same story here. True Love fanclub unite!

Kukui with that third Full Restore in a nutshell: Myah-ha-ha! No, no, no, no, no! You don't get it, do you? I can't be defeated! I won't be! IT. CANNOT. BE. ALLOWED!

color theme challenge is an interesting concept for nuzlocking that i haven't seen yet. refreshing and there's still a great variety of pokemon to use. i'd love to see more of these.
2:46 has a what?
