    I just bought my first ball python this past weekend at a local show. He’s a banana, black pastel, black head, orange ghost, and pos het pied. I really want to focus on adding darker genes into banana because I think they look awesome!
    I help my friend with his collection every week and he’s starting to get into the business. Your channel is super helpful! Also, you guys are a delight to watch compared to many other channels!!

    I bought a super banana het clown male a year ago along with het clown females with just this thought in mind. of course i have other projects as well but my thought was to have pretty babies to pull eyes to my table. also, a superbanana clown male paired to a single gene clown female will produce banana clowns every time. that makes a great looking table.

    I'm a gecko guy, I have a lot of them. If I was ever going to get a Ball Python, and I see a ton of them at expos, it would be a banana...and my pet. So that's spot-on. Nice ideas, great info. Bananas are way cool. lol

    Great video, thank you for sharing! We just got into BPs and are obsessed. Scored some really good deals at a local show. We now have a banana male, banana pied male (thought female, was wrong), leopard pastel female, mahogany lesser female, and normal het clown female. All these combined was about $600, and purchased because we liked them as pets first and considered them for breeeding down the road with little knowledge of genetic demand.
    With what we have, could we produce any great clutches? Given the current arrangement, what would you recommend we get next? With the future goal of breeding for hobbyist breeders while still providing options for newcomers (just finished your other video on breeding for $50k).

      Leopard and mahogany work really well in clown!! I would look into getting a combo clown male and pair him to those two and your het clown female!

    Wow. What a great video, and premise. Please explain how an ultrasound helps with pairings! Plrase and ty. Another issue im finding as a beginner is who to trust on morph market. If u only go with well known and popular breeders than that really limits the amount of sellers you can buy from making mm very frustrating. When im aeeing people list their animals het for a codom gene, like het enchi for example it makes me want to pull my hair out. So many people just guessing wrong imo or call their snakes hets cause they know theyll sell better. This is qlmost exactly how i started, the one didference being is my clown visual was the male and all my frmales were het clown. Especially with the price drop in clowns rn, it costs no more to get whatever your looking for het for clown

    • @LeviathanSnakes
      @LeviathanSnakes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching!!!
      An ultrasound really helps because your really only need about 2 locks at the right time to get a good clutch though we usually try to shoot for 3 just to be safe. With an ultrasound, you can introduce your male at the exact right time so you are not wasting his effort on a female who isn’t anywhere close to laying a clutch even if she is old enough and up to size. This lets you pair your male to more females than he could normally handle since you making sure each lock isn’t wasted. Without an ultrasound you pretty much have to pair a male to a female once a month until she ovulates to make sure you got a lock in at the right time and this pretty much limits him to three to four females at any given time.
      As to MM, there are a bunch of reputable smaller breeders but it is harder to find them. My advice is to watch one of the live reptile podcasts and ask in the chat who people would recommend. Proper Royals does a Tuesday show at 8:00 pm EST and it is really welcoming to new people

    Loved the content. As a beginner into the hobby it is very helpful. A couple of questions, if one wanted to add pied to the mix what would you recommend. Also, after the first clutch's are hatched what would be the best morph's from each pairing.
    Thanks

    • @LeviathanSnakes
      @LeviathanSnakes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for watching!! Would you want to use pied instead of clown or are you wanting to work the clown pied project?
      As to the best animal from each pairing it kinda depends on what you want, but I would say the female Banana + extra gene clown would likely be the best animal from each of those pairings

    • @garyblinn7582
      @garyblinn7582 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LeviathanSnakes I love pied! I really like the approach that you have outlined. I am new to this and am learning about the morphs and genetic's so this is very helpful. I didn't know if you could work pied into the banana project or the outcomes. I can spend more if necessary on the snakes if it is necessary to.
      thanks

    • @LeviathanSnakes
      @LeviathanSnakes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! If you pair a visual clown male to a visual clown female, all of the babies will be at least visual clowns

    I’ve been watching and really enjoying the videos you’ve been putting up. I’ve been keeping for close to 30 years and never considered breeding but my daughter’s interest has me looking into trying out the next level of the hobby. Would you still do the three het clown females if you could afford to get them as multi gene visuals? If so would you still get the single gene clown or would they all be multi gene visuals?

    • @pauledwards5607

      typically what do wholesellers pay percentage wise?

    • @mikenerida9184
      @mikenerida9184 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Paul Edwards I can't say what they pay typically. But I was seeing 150-200 per coral glow. That said I have a good relationship with my wholesaler. Since I was a long time customer before I ever provided them with animals.
