car looks great I always loved those little 500s! The whole journey reminds me of my father and his mate driving 1000 km in a Simca Chrysler to attend an F1 gran prix! Travelling top speed (~65mph) almost all the way from Thessaloniki to Budapest
Number27 Yeah it was a very interesting trip to say the least. I am not quite sure what year it was but I remember that Senna was the winner so it was either 1988,1991 or 1992.
Funny story, my father and his mate did not have any currencies besides Greek so they used to pay with alcohol (forbidden in Serbia and Fyrom) as a currency to fill up the car at the gas stations etc.
I might do something like this one day. I'm 17 and I like the more rarer and interesting cars. I've seen Matras for sale in France, a Bricklin SV-1 in Belgium and also many eastern block cars for sale which I'm interested in
Fantastic,,thank you for 2 good videos and great car,, my wife and me was in Monaco in september 2019 with her Fiat 500 1962 model, we was also in Garlenda Italy on Fiat 500 museum. Last week we bought 1 more 500, this one from 1975. Enjoy your car :)
Hi! I am looking to do the same as you. How did it work out with the change of ownership from your dad to you, when you reached the UK? How was it insured when you took the trip through Europe? And did you have to destroy the original numberplates when you got home? Thank you!!
Lovely car. I lust after the Zastava 750, which is a Yugoslavian built Fiat 500 with a bigger engine at 750cc. My background is Croatian, hence the want, but I have bugger all chance of finding one in Australia which is where I live. Oh well...
Hi, Jack great videos, Stumbled across them by chance as I am about to embark on the same journey. One or two quick questions, would you do the journey any different? Fuel economy, these have small fuel tanks, what roughly were you getting out of a tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great videos.
We import these and Lancia Fulvias from Italy. It makes more sense to use a company like uSHIP as the journey back at 50mph is very boring. We had one from Trieste arrive two days ago, the cost was only £650.00. If you need any advice I am happy to advise, regards,Mike
My next car maybe an old one like this. I'm disgusted with new cars today. Expensive, ugly, plain and boring. Older small cars have better miles per gallon, more fun, and you don't see many on the road today so you get a lot of thumbs up for having something unique. They're just not as safe as new cars though. Simple solution though, don't get in an accident lol.
You have to double clutch, it's an unsyrnchronized gear box.
Great video, as the owner of a 2018 500 called Vienna these adorable cars must have a name. Sofia is as beautiful as the car
Had your transmission died yet?
Really enjoyed being part of your Journey thank you. You have given my wife ideas👍
Robert Lewis thanks for watching Robert! They are great cars but make sure if you go and buy one in Italy you know how to get round the beauracracy!
Big Journey, I did the same with Fiat 600 from 1964 but we start from Rome to Nottingham, we did in 2 and half days !!!
Good morning, 27. I'm keen to understand the bureaucracy you mentioned. I'm looking to go your route and purchase a 500L.

This car is 1971 but the original design dates back to the late 50s..

Hello number 27 I have a 1971 Fiat 500 (Abarth) it gets too hot and cannot do more than 25 miles! What could be wrong with it?
No idea just from that I’m afraid.. could be so many things!
Is your steering wheel crooked?

Thanks John!! I can’t remember but I think the car does roughly 40mpg.. if driven slowly. Journey was perfect as it was!!

That twisted seat belt bothered my OCD. But I love your car man. Congratulations.
Hey thanks!! I know just what you mean about the OCD on the seatbelt!! Sadly she is sold now... the new owner put in the 650cc engine
