@@donfronterhouse4759 Can you prove and show all 2-3 keys you (usually) have for it? If one's missing, it was either in the car or got stolen from elsewhere
Theft even at that level, is considered a minor crime in California. Which is utterly ridiculous. So when your stuff goes missing, don't expect it to be found, nor the person held responsible in the end. Shameless.
If convicted of MILLIONS of dollars worth of theft, max sentence: 2-5 year (maybe) and max 50k fine. Insane. All that theft means that the 50k is whatever and he basically paid himself to be in jail for two years, more than you make at your honest job. Then he just gets out and does it again, because it doesn't mean sh!t to him.
theft is usually committed by ppl who are impovershed, so it should be a minor crime. and most of the time the victim can just file a claim and get their money back
Pretty much all of those cars can be tracked by their navigation units via the dealer/manufacturer with or without a battery in the car. There's a much bigger story here.
Tesla's perhaps, but there's nothing to track if there's only a passive signal from an unpowered tracker. If the manufacturer doesn't get someone on the cars tail pretty quick, then the thieves will disable whatever is necessary until it gets to it's new country/owner. It's not a clueless newbie when there are 35 cars with factory trackers fitted sat in his backyard and this is the first anyone knew about it. They've been worked on by someone before being parked there, otherwise 35 cars would all disappear at the same spot, which is equally suspicious. Either the cars owners are involved in the fraud, or there's an organised crime element to it. But unless someone has fit a SIM enabled tracker in a non factory locale on the car, once the power sources are disconnected, or the area sufficiently shielded, it's game over.
Leaving the keys inside cars is really a thing, it blows my mind. In NJ, thieves leave Newark and travel to the suburbs to try door handles. they don't have to look for long before they find one unlocked with the key fob inside. They return back with high end cars every day. they joy ride them until they crash or until it's recovered by police while it's parked. If they're able to find someone to purchase the car from them and ship it overseas, they'll do that or use it to commit other crimes. They are also known to travel an hour plus to quiet neighborhoods, including into neighboring NY state, to steal cars.
Thats true and thats also advised if your key fob eats batteries. They advise 30ft minimum but with good batteries my honda odyssey can set the alarm at twice that disrance, will unlock the door at about a dozen feet, but only let you start it if youre actually in the car.
I have heard that a lot of these cars end up in Russian hands. Perhaps the current events unfolding there have hurt the ability to fence stolen luxury goods.
I'm from germany and many of our old/used cars get exported to eastern europe (maybe russia too) and northern africa. You got a good point with your theorie! And with the "Special Operation" going on it could be hard to maintain the ways to get the cars in/near the country. Let's just wait a bit and watch what the story unfolds😉
not russian’s directly; it could go there, but they usually end up first in the middle east, like in saudi, UAE, or Armenia. where the easily corrupt just help everything move smoothly from shipping & handling, to registration in those countries, than finally a legitimate dealership
This is the confusing part to me. People leaving keys in their cars and I'm over here putting my fob in a faraday bag as soon as I get home so thieves can't use the trick where they aplify the signal from your window and have their buddy unlock and start the car. I don't even use the fob to open the doors in case someone is using a device for a replay attack (capture and save the unlock signal so they can use it later).
People are getting more lazy in every aspect. I mean is it that hard to lift your tailgate? Do you really need it to be electrically operated? The same with tail gates on trucks.
@@scotchbonnetfk8 they can also scan your signal off you pushing your garage door opener. Then just come back at another time and activate your garage door to steal it.
400 cannabis plants is a full time job, more than a full time job for more than one person if you want to do it with "best practices." I think that residence was going full steamer for multiple enterprises. Could be like 10 million buried on the property to be dug up later after the investigation is over. This level of enterprise has a boss that is completely disconnected from whoever gets caught, they would run these businesses full tilt knowing they cant operate forever, just as long as possible until some people need to take a fall.
In the UK it would normally be a Vietnamese gardener that lived in the house with the plants full time. Guess this dude was just a busy busy man if it was a one man operation. Doesn't seem likely though. I don't get why they didn't put tarps over the cars though. Cheap, easy and effective. If you've got a grow on you don't need to be attracting attention like that!
in most cases, usually you start the grow-op first, run up a bunch of cash with a few grow cycles that need to be represented “legally”, either you start a business that is easy to wash money through or you buy cars cash or both, sometimes those cars themselves are vin washed as well, and will only pop when you try to register them with the dmv or happen to get pulled over. so either you part em out, ship em out, or know someone that can someone fix the issues your going come across with the DMV.
also a side note, you shouldn’t be keeping your “investments” in the same place you grow illegally. 2 houses in 2 different counties minimum. It could aswell be insurance fraud, if i were the investigating officer. I would look into who he surrounds himself with, the businesses & licenses they have.

I think he could of done insurance fraud for people who thought they could afford these nice luxurious cars when they really couldn’t. So basically for a certain price he would steal the car so that person doesn’t have to pay for it anymore and would get back what they put in. It’s simple.
Now I’m curious how many he truly stole. Along with how many he’s sold. No way he does this by himself. Far too risky unless he goes the fraud route. Still far too many unless he’s very good at disguises and so forth
For something this big and n these expensive nice car I'll go with insurance fraud. The owner couldn't pay off the car or needed the cash so he found somebody who knew how it worked have them come take their car then the owner filed for the insurance and then the car thieves get the sell the car to somebody else a couple months later cuz old cars are too nice not to be noticeable in somebody backyard
My neighbors car got stolen from right in front of her house, I asked her how they got into her car without setting off the alarm. She mentioned that her keys were also missing, and then mentioned that she suspects the criminals snuck into her house, while she was inside, and took her keys, then she paused and goes “oh wait...I might have just left my keys in my car.” And we’re not even talking driveway parking, we’re talking street parking, car unlocked, key inside your car...sorry ma’am I can’t feel bad for you on this one.

Makes so much sense and now explains the backyard I also found full of high end cars out here. I fly drones, and typically I’m flying at range sometimes certain things catch my eye and inhale seen backyards full of cars before and only suspect standard insurance fraud case not a middle man being involved
This was my immediate thought as well.
"Stealing" 50+ vehicles and letting them sit, without fencing them, parting them out, etcetera: Unlikely
Allowing them to be "parked" for an extended period of time and subtly "disposing" of them after nobody "reclaims" them: Likely
One gets your hands dirty; the other maintains plausible ignorance.
Glad to hear they got him. Now my 05 nissan sentra is safe
Is a Sentra ever truly safe, though?
The red car in the background at 2:35… I believe is a BMW 850i. The mirrors look identical.
The fact that you referenced clueless shows why I love you guys so much

This is canon now

My best guess would be some sort of a BMW 8 series. It doesn't have the iconic bmw M mirrors, but it does have a carbon roof, so I don't know exactly which 8 series it is 🤔
It could also be a prev gen 6 series
@@waitasecond5366
Could be, I just think the overall shape and the shape of the mirrors doesn't look like the ones on the previous 6 series coupe
@@nicolaihjort444 yeah the wing mirrors on the old 6 series are more upwards with an curve in to the frame of the car. The 8 series (as shown) is facing more away from the car at the top.
@Nicolas Mariano Gonzalez
No, the mirrors and the overall shape do not match.
The F06 has a different mirror base and the indicator is in the lower part of the mirror. However, the 8 series has this kind of mirror with the indicator sorta in the middle/top of the mirror. The F06 is also more rounded in the bonnet shape, this is not.
@@nicolaihjort444 You're on the money... It's an 8 Series. I'm guessing it's a 840i... The M850i and the M8 come with the typical M styled mirrors.

2:34 BMW 6 Series?
late 90s hondas are honestly hysterically easy to steal, mine was stolen twice in orlando when i was in college
That is madness. Must be a crazy story behind this case. When i worked for an insurance company we had this one client who had a brand new Toyota Landcruiser stolen from him every 6 months. There must have been at least 7 or 8 of them stolen. The owner guy was legit but the thieves figured out that this bloke would get a new replacement Landcruiser every time they took one. Apparently the cars all ended up in warzones being broken down for parts or used as weapons trucks.
How much above average does he have to pay to insure his TLC after so much theft? Also, that's some serious brand dedication
Not sure if it's just in Ireland but if you're car is stolen while your keys were in it your insurance will not cover you
If the car is missing, how does the insurance company know if you left the keys in it?
@@donfronterhouse4759 Can you prove and show all 2-3 keys you (usually) have for it? If one's missing, it was either in the car or got stolen from elsewhere

Nolan you are the best journalist.
An entire auto theft scheme in California, sounds like that can make a great videogame! 👀
GTA?
Theft even at that level, is considered a minor crime in California. Which is utterly ridiculous. So when your stuff goes missing, don't expect it to be found, nor the person held responsible in the end. Shameless.
If convicted of MILLIONS of dollars worth of theft, max sentence: 2-5 year (maybe) and max 50k fine. Insane. All that theft means that the 50k is whatever and he basically paid himself to be in jail for two years, more than you make at your honest job. Then he just gets out and does it again, because it doesn't mean sh!t to him.
Everything in California is a minor offense except supporting Trump.😅
theft is usually committed by ppl who are impovershed, so it should be a minor crime. and most of the time the victim can just file a claim and get their money back
Pretty much all of those cars can be tracked by their navigation units via the dealer/manufacturer with or without a battery in the car.
That backyard of cars reminded me of the that car park puzzle back in 2013 or something like that, I forgot the name of it though...
i love the timer sound at around 4:28 in the video
Stealing $2.3 million is considered a minor crime in California?
yeah pretty much
Apparently and it’s pretty stupid
It's the possession of a gun you're comparing too. Cali hates them soooooo much
California = big dumb

Title: 33 Cars
Nolan: 35 Cars
Leaving the keys inside cars is really a thing, it blows my mind. In NJ, thieves leave Newark and travel to the suburbs to try door handles. they don't have to look for long before they find one unlocked with the key fob inside. They return back with high end cars every day. they joy ride them until they crash or until it's recovered by police while it's parked. If they're able to find someone to purchase the car from them and ship it overseas, they'll do that or use it to commit other crimes. They are also known to travel an hour plus to quiet neighborhoods, including into neighboring NY state, to steal cars.
I'm still amazed how Donut Media can make a video of any motor topic.
He was only 17 cars away from saving his brother ( you are a man of culture if you get it).
Ok
"Lowrider Donny... ... ...Donny, Lowrider?"
There are ways keyless entry car keys can be hacked - I've heard advice about keeping them in a metal keybox when you are at home.
Let's just wait a bit and watch what the story unfolds😉
was that in the steele dossier?
not russian’s directly; it could go there, but they usually end up first in the middle east, like in saudi, UAE, or Armenia. where the easily corrupt just help everything move smoothly from shipping & handling, to registration in those countries, than finally a legitimate dealership
Na they take them to Armenia I’m pretty sure

How do these luxury cars in current days not have hidden random tracking devices?!
If he’s innocent, then I’m apparently watching the 1993 Monza GP
i mean everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
I mean, if 50 random people just _happened_ to park their vehicles on his property and never claim them...
Why would people leave their keys in their car? Is it really that inconvenient to grab them when you leave the house?
@@lucasdavison5760 didn't know that, well atleast I'm good since my phone opens my garage door so I don't actually have an opener in my car
@BentoBuff yeah if you look up videos online you can see it in action. Tricks the car into thinking the key is there, low effort and quick.
400 cannabis plants is a full time job, more than a full time job for more than one person if you want to do it with "best practices."
I think that residence was going full steamer for multiple enterprises.
Upgraded green screen setup is clean!
in most cases, usually you start the grow-op first, run up a bunch of cash with a few grow cycles that need to be represented “legally”, either you start a business that is easy to wash money through or you buy cars cash or both, sometimes those cars themselves are vin washed as well, and will only pop when you try to register them with the dmv or happen to get pulled over. so either you part em out, ship em out, or know someone that can someone fix the issues your going come across with the DMV.
also a side note, you shouldn’t be keeping your “investments” in the same place you grow illegally. 2 houses in 2 different counties minimum. It could aswell be insurance fraud, if i were the investigating officer. I would look into who he surrounds himself with, the businesses & licenses they have.
Yea this seems like insurance fraud, or he was going to ship them overseas and resell em but couldn’t
Or...
This is one of the shady entrepreneurs that makes cars voluntarily "disappear" on behalf of individuals who cannot afford the monthly payments.
"Oh ,no! I can't find my car. I think it's been stolen... No, I have 'no idea' where it is."
He gets a free car; they get the value of the vehicle; everyone wins, except the insurance company.
I feel so attacked. I have that EXACT bulky leather bound wallet:(
Same. Mine literally is busting apart at the stitching lol. Try NOT having it in your pocket for a few days, you'll prob find something feels missing at 1st, then you realize how much more comfortable it is sitting, driving, etc.. I thought minimalist wallets were dumb, trendy, limiting options... 2 weeks trying carrying wallet in my edc bag, now Im browsing "Minimalist wallets" online for a replacement lol. Some cool handmade leather styles out there too if ur not into the whole hardcover "Ridge" style.

My old v6 Honda Accord was stolen by the same guy 5 times once 😂 dude drove it tell it ran out of gas then we’d find it parked at a gas station or left on the highway. Apparently had a master key that starts most 90s an 2000s Honda.
After the fifth time I would just have the guy call me when he needs to borrow the car.
@@rblbatb I mean the car was 2000$ so about a tank of gas nowadays 😂 an he stopped stealing it once I ran into a concrete wall and blew the whole back end out an bent half the parts needed for staying in a straight line. So I guess he was about the convince not the struggle 😂
Let me guess: because he stole them?
Also, for when you ask what that car is, my best guess is an M6. There’s also a Q5 diagonal to the Mercedes SUV. There’s also what looks to be a Sienna from the aerial view.
Arrested on _suspicion_ of executing a constitutionally protected right?
Sheesh... Wonder if they charged him for the rumors saying he was complaining about getting arrested, too.
thank you. that was the most important part to me. california is so backwards lol
No he was a felon in possession of a firearm. Felons aren't allowed to own guns in most states.
On suspicion of being a *felon* in possession of a firearm. I'm not sure whether felons have this exact constitutional right. What about you?
Probly already a felon so cant own one
Well, it's much easier to get major criminals on petty crimes. They did get Al Capone on tax evasion charges, after all!
I think he could of done insurance fraud for people who thought they could afford these nice luxurious cars when they really couldn’t. So basically for a certain price he would steal the car so that person doesn’t have to pay for it anymore and would get back what they put in. It’s simple.
So incredible to see those 30 plus cars all parked up in someone else's garage. Without even noticed.
My coworkers use to leave her fob in her car 24/7. Even at school.
Why he did this is obvious. Clearly his younger brother fell in with the wrong crowd. He was forced out of retirement, put together a crack team of old friends and ex girlfriends, and stole all of these cars over the span of one night.
lol

California "guns are evil!!!"
(Refuses to actually put firearm felons away, at 3 years that's 1.5 years with good behavior) that's NOTHING compared to most states where it's a minimal 5 years

One of the vehicles not shown is a brand new Ram 1500. I know because it was from my dealership. The guy had taken the identity of a prison guard of all people. He looked like he had a scar on his cheek, but it was a tattoo covered with makeup. He got approved under the other persons name, took the truck and never answered the call from the bank. So, we lost the truck. 2 months later, this bust happened. Our truck was ditched here in Oregon, only about an hour away in the woods.
