    As a UConn and Pacer fan, could not be happier about getting Newton.

      He seems like he could kind of be a Nembhard-lite of sorts. He's big enough to probably guard either PG or SG, which is really nice. Solid defenders in the depth chart are always good to add.

      @@AKSBSU He could. He plays really well off ball, great cutter. Think his shooting percentage will improve just because he had the ball in his had a lot at the end of the shot clock. He could easily give 10-15 minutes a night right in my opinion.

    I'm still in a fever (no pun intended) dream that Indiana was able to get Furphy. I never imagined IND would be able to get a first-round talent at 36.
    My first choice for 36 was Baylor Scheierman, but Furphy was a close second. I love this.
    Newton and Freeman are going to be great players as well.

    Uconn and Knicks fan here - Came on to congratulate you all on drafting Newton. I think you're going to love him (after you get used to his style) , and I'll be watching a lot of Pacers games this year.

      Newton is definitely my type of player. I think he can be a Nembhard-lite of sorts and also defend either guard position.

    Enrique Freeman, is a great kid and the steal of the draft! He will give the Pacers a player who be a defensive lock down player and rebounding machine. This kid went from a walk on to player to the MAC player of the year. Along with working his way through the draft process by player well in the Portsmouth Invitational to going to the G league camp and getting promoted to the NBA draft camp.

    Tony, do you ever do "mailbag" type broadcasts? If so, is there a business email I could sen d my 15-20 questions to. You know, like an Academy Award "for your consideration". lol
    Oh, and p.s., thanks for the great Podcasts - I am going to be SO much more informed when the next season drops. I STILL wish we had taken Ulrich Chomche. Think he is going to be a Giannis-type guy, in the way he blossoms...

    Didn't Mojee King sign with an NBL team? I figured that meant he was spending next season overseas, although admittedly I don't know the time frame of the NBL season lol
    If Tshiebwe is back in that third two-way spot, it would be pretty fun seeing him and Freeman starting together and grabbing every single missed shot for the Mad Ants next season.

    • @LockedOnPacers
      @LockedOnPacers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He did, though that doesn't mean he will finish the season there. Some guys have opt outs. If he stays, of course Tshiebwe would be the most likely third two-way slot

    • @NexSerenade
      @NexSerenade 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @LockedOnPacers Ah, interesting. Well, either way, I'll be rooting for his success in the NBL. He seems like a good dude with a ton of potential.

      I'm slightly concerned about Furphy not getting much of a chance to prove he's a good offensive rebounder (one of the keys in my view for him getting playing time given Nesmith is a much better defender and also a better shooter) because Oscar and perhaps Enrique as well will gobble up all the rebounds. Nothing escapes Oscar ball-magnet hands.

    • @superdopehiphop

      TJ Leaf drafted with John Collin and OG on the board was completely embarrassing. They were projected 8-18 while TJ was projected 30-40!
      Plumlee over Draymond embarrassing as well. So was Hansbrough over Jrue Holiday. Turner over Booker was bad too as was 24 yr old Duarte over Sengun/Murphy III/Kispert/Moody all on board. I didn’t like Jarace Walker pick either (wanted Coulibaly/Lively/Whitmore liked Wallace too, but Jarace at least showed some flashes he just didn’t play enough).

    Great job by KP and the front office! All you’re looking for in the 2nd rd is fit, potential, and value. Furphy has that in spades. Newton is an all American and proven winner like a Jalen Brunson. Freeman defends and gets boards. Hopefully they all work out and if they don’t we’re still really deep! The mad ants are gonna be tough 😂

      Agree with everything except I liked Spencer at Uconn over Newton (eye test wise) and most Big Boards online did also (fwiw). Still I liked this yrs second round WAY better then last years when I wanted Trayce Jackson Davis and GG Jackson yet we moronically drafted Mojave King & Isiah Wong.

  • @warlockmagic3416

    Picked a dude named Furphy. Waste of a pick in itself. So he can slightly move and they leave him open to hit shots. Cool, he will never be a able to guard anyone. They talked about his "off ball" like he's moving like Steph Curry lol. Doesn't matter if you have size. If you're slow, they really think this dude can play SF?? He's 6'9 and slow, who's he guarding? Soon as NBA players press up on him it's over. They draft Enrique, he hustles hard because he has to. Guess if you're trading away Jackson.. But Enrique is basically a C that weighs 200 pounds. I like that he works hard, but position is a problem. Newton is the one that I can say is okay. Yet he's one we needed the least.. It's as if the Pacers are allergic to drafting a real SF with Defensive upside as the priority and a shot.

    Once again, no SF with defensive upside first and foremost with shot potential. Someone that can do multiple thing's. Smdh. Got another PG tho. Miami drafted Kel'el Ware and smart enough to give Keshad a chance. CLE snatched Tyson quick. TOR did alright.
    Then we let Klintman slide right by to DET. His career is over before it ever started. He will never develop into anything there lol. If you take on a project, at least take one with some defensive upside. Shoot, I liked guy's like Jaylen Wells better than Furphey. Even 6'0 ft Jamal Shead.
