I think when playoff comes and match up dictates, they will start nesmith again over mathurin but same minutes for mathurin becuase of scoring. But i also think mathuring starting will give more options on their scoring. Especially hali already adjusted his game to mathurin. But again it all make sense to have nesmith for defensive purposes.
When you have 2 point guards and another star in the pecking order (Siakam) in the starting lineup, IDK if you really want to pair them with a score first guard who needs the ball in his hands (Mathurin is a hesitant catch and shooter). Mathurin works best as the #1 option being fed by a PG. If the Pacers WANTED to run the offense that way (Ty > Mathurin being your primary offense) then they could have started doing that years ago at this point. They don't want to, they want to play random and get everyone shots for better or worse. Just my 2 cents, I bet it takes a few games max for Nesmith to be a starter again.
He hasn't dropped 30 since November 10th against the Knicks. I'll take Neismith's better defense and catch and shooting over Ben in the starting lineup right now.
Depth coming back at the right time. We have been able to "out-depth" and out-run elite teams. Need to try to do that. Bench has to be blowing out the opposing benches by 15+ for us to have a good chance.
To me the answer is package Nesmith and Walker and possibly a 3rd more developmental player (plus picks) for a really solid 2/3. Yes it would bump Benn out of the rotation but having a guy like him coming off the bench in the playoffs is lethal. Walker has good potential but I think his ceiling has shrunk with the Pacers. Nesmith is solid but I feel like we have a lot of players who are solid and can and have filled his gap. We can then work a sign and trade for Myles in the offseason (not optimal but realistic) to get some picks back and run Bryant and Weisman at the 5.
The type of player we need for this roster, consistent 3 and D wings who can make the right passes, kind of rare in this league. Hard to find and teams aren’t just giving them up. So I always thought our best bet was Mathurin just becoming flat out better than Nesmith. To the point where you can’t justify not starting him. I don’t think that’s happened yet. But if he can make just enough reads, stops, and shots I think he holds Nesmith off. Only because his rebounding in certain games is just so valuable to this team.
All these trade ideas seem kind of interesting. But i think pacers should stay put. The depth will come in handy for playoffs. The chemistry of the team will make this team.
All of minutes of walker and some minutes of shep will go to nesmith. Very intersting to have mcconel, shep, nesmith, obi and bryant for 2nd unit. Nesmith scores will go up.
I’m not impressed with Mathurin. He likes to dribble between his legs without even moving. He catches passes with space to shoot but seems to have to dribble first and then the space is gone. He continues to drive into trouble. He misses wide open layups. I really look forward to Nesmith coming back. He is a vastly better defender, he is not a ball stopper and likely a better shooter. Plus he doesn’t complain to the refs all the time.
When it comes to keeping or trading Mathurin, it all depends on what's available. If someone wanted to give us the perfect piece in return for him, he'd be gone. But we shouldn't just ship him out for mediocre return. He works best off the bench so I firmly believe Nesmith will be back in the starting lineup. Players don't typically lose their starting spot just because they got injured. And we had the best bench in the league last year, largely because Mathurin can give you 15+ nightly off the bench, which Nesmith couldn't do.
So do player's like James Harden. Skilled player's once they eventually catch on. They can score against anyone and create their own space. This team has never even had a chance yet. I don't really care for the direction of the build on a young team. I would have made a few small, but big time moves. Creating even more depth, that are defense first with skill. Possibly gotten another pick. Then once established and see what we had. After creating even more assets. That's when you go after the big fish. Not how we done it. Maybe they felt it was necessary to make the move then. Sure they were afraid to miss out.. But Idk, imo there was a lot to be gained this off-season.
People seem to forget that Nesmith is a great driver himself. Normally when Aaron drives he loves to dunk and he has gotten alot of posters. That energy is what we need especially later into games.
They really dont like the trades. Right now cam jhonson is the best but turner will no way will be resigned which for me better to resign than getting cam johnson especially now centers like turner is needed.
Thanks for the analysis! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
If Sacramento trades Fox, do you think the Kings blow it up? That would make DeRozan at 23 million available. Considerably more reasonably priced than Jimmy Butler. Nesmith is 11 million of that if we feel that we've been playing well enough without him. Walker, and IJAX salaries put us 1.6 million away from an even trade money wise. Start Haliburton, Nembhard, DeRozan, Siakam, Turner. Backup McConnell, Mathurin, Sheppard, Toppin, Bryant. Still leaves you Wiseman next year to see what we can get from him.
Idk if the fit with derozan is that great. Nesmith also brings good defense which derozan does not. I would rather see us get a 3 and D player like Cam Johnson from Brooklyn if he becomes available. Solid defender and great shooter. Derozan is a better player on his own but I’m pessimistic about the fit in the team.
Don't rock the boat, there playing pretty good players get in foul trouble and match ups finding time will work it self out they can play more up tempo the value of there bench allows them to wear down the opposing team.
This what I’m saying, we got depth, use it. Play 11 guys, play the vets and develop the young guys. Pacers play fast which is hard physically, use that depth
If the Heat blow it up post-Jimmy, we should move mountains to get Bam. Ty, Pascal, Bam, Nembhard could be a championship core. I would ship Obi, Mathurin and Turner for him, for example.
Jimmy isn't worth it at all at this point. Giving up wayy too much. By the time you add anything to your team. He's on his way out and Pascal is even older. I don't see the value in most of these "name's." We need to be finding the special talents we can afford to place around our team. However now, I feel we've already missed out. So it might take until the deadline and off-season to see what shakes loose. I wish their was an obvious piece right now. Wish we had a SF like Jalen Williams, Hartenstein and Caruso. A Lu Dort.. that's the team we should have been trying to put around Haliburton and young guy's. We have new team's looking to blow up now though. Have to regroup and make some smart decisions. No way I'm giving up our young talent for an old star plus picks. There's a point where it's obviously not worth it.
Trade your best defender when you are a team who typically has a putrid defense?? We potentially get swept by the injury riddled Knicks last year without Nesmith's defense on Brunson. Some fans aren't realizing that Nesmith is one of the best 3&D players in the league, just because we ask him to guard up. If he were guarding guards nightly you would see his value more.
@@kalu8652 I think we need to move some salary before we re-sign Turner and Nesmith is my choice. I fully agree that he'd be better guarding guards than forwards but he's not going to start at 2 ahead of a healthy Nembhard. Some would prefer to move Obi but not me.

Nobody told the Los Angeles Lakers that and they haven’t won the championship since
Mathurin wont be coming off the bench. He's too good now and Ben can drop 30 at anytime...

Nesmith fits as a team player better than Mathurin. Mathurin as the main scorer off the bench makes more sense.
Quality content every single time. Thanks Tone Loc!
Thank YOU for watching!
@@LockedOnPacers should the Indiana Pacers move on from Nesmith
Next 6 games are the big boys! This stretch of 6 will tell us ALOT!!!!!!

Some of us don’t get to spend time with family and these holiday episodes have helped. Thanks T.
You got it. Happy to have helped!
Need Nesmith to guard top players on other teams. Sit anyone to get him in crunch time

Pacers need to create plays for him honestly. He sure does make shots hard for himself but his driving ability can't be overlooked.
Benn does complain, but he is a better scorer. He is a better finisher around the rim. Nesmith is a better defender but he fouls alot

Derozan would have to take a bench role and doubt he does tha or else he'd be doing that with the kings. Him and siakam can't play together
Dont like derozan idea. His good his very good. They need actually a derozan type player. But the team can get it from mathurin and nembhard

🔥🔥💯💯
I want no parts of a 35 year old Jimmy Butler at the cost it would take (trade and new contract)
Do the Pacers also trim Tyrese and Pascal minutes closer to last year's minutes to stay healthy throughout season?
