I remember back in 1991 when I was in high school and a friend of mine gave me a copy of the cassette massacre from beyond played it the first time became an instant fan ever since and I did notice on the back of the album cover photo that kam was Asian even back then when I noticed it I thought cool awesome so he’s Asian no big deal if anything I thought it made the band different because you really never saw an Asian vocalist in a death metal band back then especially so I never ever had a problem with that at all I liked it it made them even more different because I have been a huge Bruce Lee fan since 1983 so that made me like it even more that he was Asian and for kam finally owning the name massacre hey brother hats off to you very glad for you👍🏻👍🏻☠️⚡️🤘🏻

Agree that Kam should've got some recognition for the Mantas and early Death demos + the Death logo but man, this guy can bag a lot of people out. I understand that he is dirty that Chuck took all the recognition but there is a good reason for that, Chuck churned out some killer albums and musically kept evolving. I'm glad that due to the internet I can watch a lot of Live Death concerts, they had a cult following back then and it is much bigger now and Kam can't seem to digest that. He is a funny guy though and every one knows that he was one of the pioneers along with Chuck for the early Death Metal scene, he doesn't need Eric Grief to tell everyone that. Apple jacks and a girl..lol. At least he admits that they were 16 and stupid when that happened.

I think the broader public perception will now change based on the recent Massacre album. The Apple jacks episode is telling. Chuck was a sensitive soul, it seems like it took very little to get on his bad side.

@@ScarsandGuitarspodcast seems to me Kam Lee has a massive ego and still can't keep a line up together. No one has got anything good to say about him after working with him.

I feel like Kam still has some resentment towards the whole Mantas/Death/Chuck thing and the popularity that Death has gotten more so than him and his band Massacre which kinda reminds me of Mustaine on Metallica. And I mean no Disrespect to Kam, and he may be right about Death being way popular after Chuck's unfortunate passing....but I done believe that it was ALL Eric's doing to make Chuck the "martyr" of Death Metal and somehow romanticized Chucks legacy. I think to be a figure like Chuck has became, you HAVE to have great talent, musicianship, songwriting or just breaking the boundaries or parameters that were put on Death Metal and "how it was supposed to sound" Chuck Schuldiner earned his place in Death Metal history as an early pioneer of perfecting Death Metal. And you can say aswell Kam in his own right, is a legend in early Death Metal aswell! But I truly believe fans can see through all the bullsh*t and see the talent in musicians for what they truly are and some just ride the coattails of the much more talented person in a group but then expects the same attention and love as the one who put in the work and had the true skills and that's why people love who they love as much as they do.

But one thing I see time and time again is how management or people who are in it for all the wrong reasons and arent there for their bands best interests. And rob the naive "just got a record deal" gullible and young bandmembers and that's just sad. Business shouldn't mix into art, music and peoples songs that THEY wrote but labels end up taking all of that too. I understand a label is important to get your bands name out there and to help financially get the band up and going to record a legit album. But the part that's not right is when that band gets noticed finally, by people and that bands music that THEY created is making atleast hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars, yet the labels lie and steal money that didnt belong to them it's just cruddy, self promotion seems the way to go over a major

Had more respect for kam before listening to any interviews. Dude doesnt seem to have a good thing to say about damn near anyone, youd think it might dawn on him that maybe hes just a royal pain in the ass.

That's why Massacre has always been a train wreck of a band. No consistent releases, a constant revolving door of members, and most of the publicity the "band" gets is because of Kam's massive ego. He's just a miserable, bitter old nobody who spends all his time speaking ill of the dead and whining about those who have achieved more than him. Whether he likes it or not, Kam is no more than a foot note in death metal history. Maybe he could have been more if he'd spent less time bitching about more successful people, and more time actually being a vocalist anyone wants to be in a band with for more than three days without getting sick of him.
