Dr T… Sangean radios are excellent. I think I have every model they make. They remind me of the 1960s when a Sony would blow you away. I don’t think there is a much better brand.
This one's my main radio, the only thing about it that causes a little discomfort is how power hungry it is, i get under 20hrs of low volume AM with 1400ma batteries
Hej Todderbert thanks for the AM bandscan with the Sangean PR-D7 I don't have this radio but i also look at more Sangean PR-D radios to buy but oh yes love the Sangean radio brand take care and have a nice evening or soon night in Chicago.
I've owned a PR-D7 for over a decade. It's very well behaved on MW, with no noticeable spurious tones that plague many of my radios. I like the clear sound on MW. I find it much more pleasant to listen to than my larger PR-D5, which sounds muffled in comparison.
SANGEAN :) The PR-D7 is a gem of a radio. Thanks for the always thorough review and band scan. I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’s celebration.
I forgot to mention that my PR-D7, which I bought new in 2010, has a black speaker. I also bought a new one for my dad in 2010, but this one had a bad wall wart power supply (dead out of the box). I had to exchange the whole radio with Amazon to get a replacement wall wart. I tested all three radios before returning the inferior replacement radio and they did vary slightly in performance. On MW, typically some are more sensitive on the low end of the band (e.g., 530 kHz), while others are more sensitive on the high end of the band (e.g., 1700 kHz). This can be related to where the pickup coil is positioned on the ferrite bar antenna. I prefer radios that are more sensitive on the low end of the band, because I rarely use the high end of the band.
Hi, I have been subscribed to your ch for a while now, and I am an AM dxer, well I try to be any way. I am looking for a great dxing radio, I own a tecsun 990x, and I loved it, was the best radio I ever owned. But something happened, and now it doesnt recieve for crap. So I am looking for a new radio, perferably something in the 150 to 200 dollar range. If I have to go higher, I have to, but I am looking for something that would be as good as the 990x (or close to it) was when it was new. I am kind of interested in short wave also, but the main thing I am interested in is AM reception. Could you please give me a couple of radio recomadations, TIA for any advice you may give. Shane

Todderbert the most professional radio evaluation videos thank you 🙏
The PR-D7 is a great little PLL radio. I prefer PLL to DSP for MW DX'ing but obviously DSP is better for FM. Thanks Todd!
