I think that is because both have lost their love ones to death and have children they are raising alone. They understand each other

Once I saw that he got an "Mc" name, I got hooked and approved this future love story. I like McWidow a lot!

her person is and always will be christina, she might not appear in the tv show but it's apparent that she still keeps in contact with meredith and they care about each other a lot. Hayes has a more caring romantic connection with her.

@@karajohnson572 well not completely love yet. Meredith would be hayes’ the first women since his wife died so they would have to take it slow, but I mean they can still get to know each other. Maybe not with Meredith sick and the pandemic, but they could go get coffee as friends, maybe hang out at each other’s houses, as friends. I 100% agree with you that they arent that close yet, but it wouldn’t hurt for Meredith do get another person, and his connection with Cristina is definitely something they have in common.

I love Deluca's character but I do not ship him with Mer. I think Hayes understands her better and they have better chemistry in my opinion. Plus he is Cristina approved.

How there are any Merluca shippers out there, especially at this point, is beyond me! To me, Hayes and Mer have ACTUAL chemistry. She lights up around him in a way that we've only seen with Derek and her brief encounter with the transplant doc. The way that they connect on an emotional level and all the over the shoulder glances and smiling eyes...I mean they are great together and I feel like she will get Derek's blessing at the beach and hopefully after, they go full speed ahead with Mer and Hayes!! ❤

After Derek and Riggs he’s the definitely best partner for her they understand each other’s pain and he knows he can’t replace derek and he didn’t even want to replace him that’s why I think they could have a future together
I love Mer and Hayes together. I don’t know how they calculate age on the show, but in real life, Deluca is 20 years younger; Hayes is 12 years younger and is so much more mature than Deluca. I never understood why Mer and Deluca were together. Hayes is perfect for her.
In the show Mer and and Hayes are in their mid 40s
I'm just waiting for Mer to wake up, recover and give Hayes a chance. He not only understands her in ways Deluca never can. He understands the pain of losing a spouse, so he knows he can never replace derek. He has kids of his own, so he's probably not interested in any more kids of his own. He's also her equal in every way, dosn't worship the ground she walks on, and she can talk to him about stuff she can't talk to Deluca about. She has had doubts about Deluca and their relationship. He's Cristina approved, and they have chemistry. They should have just kept her and Deluca a fling or fwb. amelia and Link can then find their own place, and Maggie can find a nice appartment.
Deluca is nice, but not for Mer. And not for Jo either.
Deluca is young, attractive, a surgeon, and not held back by past trauma. He can esaily find somebody else. He should just look outside the hospital for dating, or date Vic from station 19, or move to Switzerland, or stay single.

I really didn’t like merluca deluca was too immature for Meredith and she kept trying to make herself smaller for him to build his ego. With Hayes he matches Meredith perfectly and hes her equal without trying to hard! This why I ship them he’s perfect for her and they both understand each other emotionally and mentally it’s a perfect fit 🥺💓
It's that moment when Meredith says it gets better. The pain is what connects them and I don't think DeLuca will be able to meet her on that type of feeling.

Me too..I have no idea why the writer try to put her with deluca..I still hope derek back but after rewatch again I like hayes with meredith, hayes is type of man who always loyal no matter what , there r some time when derek forget meredith for a moment because he feel like a GOd n kiss another woman: when he kissed rose after finished surgery, when he kissed other doctor in DC after he found something for her research, n when he meet his old friend n addison after did surgery to addison brother succesfull then left meredith after failed in simple surgery

WOW. I quit the show in the middle of last season because the storylines were just stressing me out so much, so I’ve missed most of their dynamic, but wow. This is the closest I’ve come to wanting to watch the show again since quitting. (Probably will just continue to watch vicariously through editors like you, though, because I can’t handle watching them deal with pandemic stress in addition to emotional stress.)
