I remember the day this episode premiered, I was sobbing like a baby. This show makes you feel like you are all a family, and when she was announced dead I felt like I lost a sister
No joke. Exactly how I reacted when I thought she was dead and then they show that scene at the very end. I was so pissed that they were toying with my emotions. She was legit my favorite character, and I didnt think I could watch the show with her gone. I endured nonetheless, but I missed her just as much if not more than I did JJ. Both of them are Queens. ❤
I started watching CM during Season 2 and Prentiss became my favorite character the moment I saw her! This episode killed me, but it was one of the most exceptional of the entire series. I stopped watching for a few years because of the drama going on behind the scenes (basically tossing AJ Cook and Paget Brewster to the curb for "cost cutting" reasons). Why would you cut two of the biggest fan favorites???
@IgoZoom1 they didn't do it because of cost cutting. They did it because some people wanted fresh female characters to look at. Sorry but there is no nice way to say that. There were absolutely sexist and only brought Emily and JJ back because the fans rebelled against the decision (rightfully so!). It was a really messed up thing to do... and the episodes where Emilh and JJ are gone are my least favorite!
This is literally my favorite arc in the show and have been waiting to point out little details until you got to it. First off the reason for her “death” is because the actress went through the same thing JJs actress did they both were fired her agent just was able to negotiate more episodes for her before she had to leave. This arc is great the first time and is better on a rewatch of the show. There are moments that point to her past that we would have no clue. The first is in 2x15 JJ asks how Emily can stay so calm with all the dead bodies coming off of a desk job and she says she just compartmentalizes better than most people. The team did not have clearance to know her past because it was international but it is just a small thing in her first few episodes we can point to. Also in 4x9 she says “she has dated people worse than viper” again something we can understand better now. In 3x2 we can see the softness she has towards the boy that has blonde hair and blue eyes just like Declan, she just has such a kindness to all children and now we know where that protectiveness came from. On top of all that she knows 6 languages that we know of English, Arabic, Russian, Spanish, Italian, and French. There are more but those are the few more obvious ones
Ive read some threads online were some people think her backstory came out of nowhere but there's just so many hints in my book about her potential history as a spy and even her complicated relationship with Doyle (or atleast the idea of someone like him). Her favorite book is a book about a spy which she tells Morgan in Season 2. Her lack of reaction to the crimes like JJ says in "Revelations" when supposedly she worked a desk job and wasn't in the field before the BAU. In the "Evilution of Frank", Jane asks if it was wrong to love Frank and Emily's response is that "we don't choose who we love" and in season 4, a woman who was involved with "the Angel Maker" while he was in prison asks Emily "You've never been in love, have you?" when Emily questions their relationship and Emily hesitates to respond and like you said in "52 Pick Up" she says she's dated worse than Viper (she kept Doyle's ring for 8 years obviously he meant more than she cares to admit but obviously knew there no future there and prioritized Declan like a real mother would.) Season 3 she quits rather than spying for Strauss because she obviously had enough of playing that role. Her attending to numerous child victims throughout the seasons even going as far as thinking to adopt one. And there's several quotes they have Prentiss read regarding lies and masks etc throughout the seasons. I could go on forever.

I'm pretty sure the actress of Emily didn't get fired. She had a lead in a new series coming up, so she left on her own. JJ's actress did get fired though.

Loved your reaction to JJ’s entrance! This is one of my all time favorites of the show. Emily/Lauren is such a complex character; getting more of a peak into her backstory, but then the insane ending… so much impact.
Your reaction to JJ's return was cute and very genuine! I think it the vast majority of show fans responded with the same feelings, if not quite the same level of enthusiasm. JJ's character is the most likable, relatable and (honestly) the prettiest on the show. She has a lot of empathy and knows when other members of the team need her support. She's the best friend/mom and AJ Cook plays it like no one else could!
I watched this episode live with my mom and sister. It wrecked all three of us. My poor dad thought a family member died the way we were all sobbing. He was paying his video games in the living room and heard us. He came rushing in to his and my mom's room where we were watching it to find us all balling our eyes out.
I was smiling before JJ walked into the room. I remembered how excited and elated you were when you saw Sarah come back, I knew this was going to be a very close repeat, and I wasn't wrong. At the end, I felt every f bomb you dropped and was drying my eyes. Such a gut punch. Great episode.
This is an absolute emotional rollercoaster of an episode. The sheer joy of seeing JJ again followed by the devastation of losing Emily. Plus that glimmer of hope at the end. Crying right along with you, Logan, even though this isn't my first, second or third time watching the show.
Logan’s going through the rollercoaster of emotions this one episode was priceless! So to continue my thoughts from previous comments is that even though Stratus wasn’t present again just the mention of her name alone should always gives that indicator something always goes down. Yesssss!!!!! I been waiting for this episode to shout out JJ!!!!!! The way Logan’s face brightened up just at the sight of JJ 😂 ❤❤ This episode always makes me cry never fail, at the end I was like yes she’s alive.
Not gonna lie, and I love Morgan, but it does bother me sometimes how he is always so "righteous". Like he can't see the bigger picture here, he's only focusing on how he feels lied to instead of how Emily did what she thought was safer for everyone around her, even at her own risk. Also in the Demonology episode, he was so hesitant to trust Emily and kept doubting her intuition and dismissing her worries even when it started looking suspicious enough...
I agree but I actually love that as the same time, bc this show just feels so real you know? Like the characters aren’t perfect even tho they’re the agents and the good guys, they’re still flawed and they’re still people

I don't remember the episode but there was one case where the unsub was dumping the victims in trash and I think Reid says that covering up the bodies could be a sign of remorse and then Morgan says "or he thinks the women are trash and that's were they belong" or something like that. Like no shit, Sherlock. 🙃 As well as another case where the unsub was masking murders as suicides and everyone was saying that something is off and Morgan plays Devil's Advocate throughout almost the whole episode saying they just look like suicides. And during this episode he calls Emily out for sleeping with Doyle for a profile and then running with her "dirty laundry" even tho he doesn't have all the facts yet. Not to mention, it's hypocritical because he's the most private person on the team right next to Emily considering he most likely would've never told anyone about Buford until he got framed during "Profiler Profiled". Like I love his character but just small stuff like that ticks me off when he says them. 🤣 Even tho I understand where he's coming from and like you said makes him not perfect.

when you were talking about prentiss being the new queen i was like oh no but she got fired with jj. the network wanted "new women" and fired the two actresses to bring in someone fresh, the one who plays seaver. they didnt have them leave on the same episode, jj did a faster exit and prentiss had negotiated a story arch to leave on. the network was stupid. these were great characters. and the fans were pissed, as we should be. a new woman isnt always a better woman. what a huge loss for the show. it is nice they didnt completely kill her though. i like they included that scene at the end. i think this is one of the best episodes. so well done. i knew what was happening and i still cried. you get this little boy face when you cry, as soon as you started my mom instinct kicked in like oh no its gonna be ok. intellectually i know youre a grown man and yet

That's cuz Morgan for the most part always plays the role of Devil's Advocate. He always offers the opposing view no matter how annoying it is.
