Well done! A low key interview that allows the interviewee to think and talk without being "on" but natural and real, instead, like a focused conversation rather than talking points.

Sorry, NOT well done. It's obvious this was cut together from two separate shoots. The first was Yumi with the blogger asking questions off camera. The second was the blogger repeating the question for the camera. It doesn't flow well. And if you zero in on the audio, the differences between room ambiance is very noticeable. Not at all "natural" or "real" to me.
Nevertheless, I appreciate the interview. I'm a new fan and hope she decides to tour the US soon.

@@lightonstillwaters6789 I produced corporate videos for a living. Good editing is when people don't notice it. Single camera interviews were common. It's how to bring it together seamlessly that makes it or, as in this example, breaks it. Cheers!

That bit about how she goes to museums and art institutes before a show to understand the history and culture of a foreign audience sounds so strongly like Thrawn from Star Wars, and how he studies a peoples' art and music to know who they are and how to conquer them.
The interviewer did an outstanding job. Yumi is quite a talent.

Yumi is absolutely an original. What strikes me most is that her naughty schtick she sometimes presents, isn’t at all inappropriate, because the innocence and humor in her voice wins out over any perception of obscenity. What a delight!

She has strong japanese accent and that actually does work.I respect and love yumi and am proud of her as a japanese woman myself!
16:28 her routine probably doesn't work at all in Japan, she leans heavily on the japanese stereotype of a shy and submissive girl with her mannerisms and quirkiness, i would also assume that she does her set in english, because basically she would have to rewrite the entire joke and change the whole pacing and timing, because of how much faster she would be speaking in japanese, the extremely different culture, sense of humor and the fact that english and japanese are fundamentally so distant in it's language structure.
That's a good point and question which I will ask her. I know when she goes to a country or region she does her research.

I guess Villasenor being on now could help open the door for her, but given how they've misused her, I tend to agree that Yumi could do better. The problem is, there isn't much else. She and Villasenor and Leslie Jones should start their own show.

I watched this video because of the title: "How to be a Female Comedian with Japanese Comic". That's what I want to be. But this was not explained.
I'm sorry if it felt misleading. She is female and Japanese. I asked her how she does what she does. It was shot over a year ago I believe. I'm going off of memory. Everyone has their process and what works for them. We are trying to inspire others to go for it by promoting other people who are and are doing it. Just put yourself out there, keep writing and getting in front of people. Use social media at scale. There is no exact blueprint. Create your own. She def gave some good advice as far as what she does on the road and to prepare. We try and I'm sorry if we have fallen short. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. ❤. It wasn't my best work as I was ill. But we tried haha.

No matter how hard I try I won't ever become a female OR Japanese, but the title of the video says how to do it. I wasn't making fun of the video, I was making fun of myself. But even if female and Japanese is impossible to aspire to, I probably won't ever be the last thing on the list which is a comic. Not only was my joke not funny, you didn't even know it WAS a joke.
