@@DougChamberlainVTHoyas i found a few more of your videos and I’m gonna go with the square mesh half moon instead I think that will work better cuz I can’t find these trellises at Home Depot anymore
@@Kafuinga I find that if you find a trellis that you like, you need to buy as many as you can, because they seem to be discontinued quickly! Good luck with your trellising!
Wow !!! Thank you for sharing you’re ideas 💡 they are so great! I have seen those at the store but thought they were too big. But now I see how you can use them.
Hi I live in Florida too! Where did you find those trellises you can hang? Love them and the colors! Do you know what they are actually called? Thank you!
That trellis unfortunately has been discontinued. I find that if you find a trellis that you like, it is best to buy a lot of them, because they are frequently discontinued.
wow. the h. serpens are giant! thanks for this nice video. I have been looking for a small hoop/circle-shape trellis for my h. mathilde. still haven't found one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I may end up just making one myself if I can find materials that would work.
Yes, those were the good old days; I can't seem to get serpens to grow well for me anymore not matter what I try. Also most of the trellises in this video are discontinued and no longer available. Good luck making your trellis!
Absolutely love this video. I couldn’t find the colorful hoop trellis either on Amazon or on Home Depot’s web site. Do you know if it’s still available?
Sadly that was discontinued within one year of my making the video! If you ever find a trellis that you like, you have to buy a lot of them or you will never be able to get them again!
Hi Anita, I really doubt those fish are available any longer. I bought three or four of them 25 years ago when I briefly worked for Gardeners Supply. There used to be a lot of places that sold similar things. They were meant to hold tea candles to be used at night. but alas apparently no one sells these any longer.
Hi Doug, I also Binge on your videos. Love all your plants and the beautiful areas you grow and display them! I have a problem no shade, grow on porch and in the house. I'm still looking for H. magnifica though they are so addicting, but what better to be addicted too! Thanks again. Would love to know what the colorful trellises that you hang is called.
Hi Kathleen, Thanks for your kind comments - You made my day! Unfortunately, those colorful trellises have now been discontinued for a long time. Actually right now there are very few metal trellises available for Hoyas. It is really aggravating. That is why I say that if you find a trellis that you like, buy as many as you can afford as they will probably be gone tomorrow forever.
Hi Doug, I’m binge watching your videos this week. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences. Do you use plastic pots exclusively? I bought a few young Hoyas and potted them in terracotta pots thinking it was a better choice for the roots. Any advice you can share would be appreciated ☺️
Hi Barb, I'm flattered that you are binge watching my videos! Here is the problem with terracotta pots: They are so good at wicking out moisture, that the hoya roots get all dried out, and it eventually kills all of those fine roots. They work great for cactus and succulents, but not so well for Hoyas. I speak from experience and talking to other growers. The only way they they work out well is if you can maintain humidity at 90% or higher almost all of the time, and almost no one can do that. Hope this helps out.
Hi Doug! I just checked Amazon and they don't have any that look like they would work very well. Do you think it would be possible to make one like the last one you showed, your favorite one? It looks like the problem would be the side bars that hold the two hoops together. Thank you for sharing!
I know it is very hard to find small houseplant trellises now. Almost everything that I have used has been discontinued. The moral of the story is that if you find a trellis that you like, buy a lot of them, because they won't be around for long. I guard my trellises, because when they are gone, they are gone forever. It seems like a company could do well with small trellises, but I guess the numbers just aren't there.
Hi Doug! I just checked out this video by Summer Rayne/Plant One On Me: th-cam.com/video/4f_KIujYS0A/w-d-xo.html. I thought you might be interested in the trellis's that Torill Nyhuus uses for her Hoyas. It looks to me like they might be fairly easy to make out of fencing material. If you've already seen it, sorry!
Your're welcome Cory. Unfortunately almost every trellis in this video is no longer available. It goes to show that when you find a metal trellis that works for you, buy as many as you can afford, because later you may never be able to find then again.
Sadly, that arch trellis has been discontinued. It was 24 inches high, and a very nice trellis for lots of different Hoyas. I have found that if you find a trellis that you like, you need to buy a lot of them, because many of them are quickly discontinued! Doug
Thanks for the quick reply. I have lots of flowering vines and have recently started collecting hoya plants so I'm in need of trellises. Too bad we don't have a lot (if any) of them being sold here in the Philippines.
Hi Doug, Really enjoyed this video, fantastic information and I appreciate the time you spent on putting it together.
A big thanks from me 💚⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks for the kind words Phill! Good luck on all of your growing!
Where have you been all my life,Doug. I love your passion for hoyas.
This is everything, now I'm ready to trellis my first Hoya. Thank you, Doug.

I just wanted to say thank you for making such informative videos. Everytime I want hoya related info, I immediately go to your channel. Thank you!

They are not ideal, but if you can bend them a little bit, they are good for those really large Hoyas.
@@DougChamberlainVTHoyas yeah thank you Doug!
You probably solved my dilemma, Doug. Thank God I watched this before purchasing more expensive trellises
Glad that I helped Maria.

I might have these available next summer, but I'm all done selling for the year.
