I literally started collecting pokemon cards since friday , the first purchase i made was the crown zenith regieleki v collection and 2 scarlet and violet 151 poster collections . I ordered the miraidon tin and 2 more 151 booster packs ( the one box fell off a truck and the box got wrecked but they were selling the boosters as a once off deal .) Probably the purchase im bummed about most is the holiday calender box , the value for money isnt that worth while in my opinion those fun packs that have 3 cards in them had no rares (except one card but i think i will stick to buying booster packs for now. (The paldea boosters i unpacked didnt have that many nice cards i feel so ripped off 😂, i still have to buy sleeves for my cards . Any tips and advice you can provide to a newb collector? I will follow you on collectr if you on there ? Let me know your tag please ? Oh and a merry christmas from south africa 🙂
Sorry for the late reply, I took some time off. First off, belated merry christmas and happy new year to you too! Second, regarding tips for new collectors: when I first rejoined the hobby 4 years ago I was a bit clueless and made purchases that were not worth the price either. My main tip would be for you to find out what you want to collect. Do you want to collect mastersets? Or just certain cards from a set? For products I would recommend boosterboxes or the standard collection boxes/tins if you are also into promo cards. Also big advice: wait for like half a year after a set releases to buy the expensive cards because the prices will most of the time drop significantly. That brings me to my final tip: buy singles online! It is always cheaper than opening packs. I like to open new product first: like 20-50 packs (depends how much I like the set) and then snatch away at some singles. I use Cardmarket, but that's Europe based. Idk if you can order singles easily online? Anyways, sorry for the ramble. I hope this helps you out and good luck collecting!:)
