People forget that during the early 1900's and even up to the 1950's discrimination against Africans and Indians were deeply rooted and the mass were living in extreme poverty (planting sugar cane for a few dollars or working as maids, etc) and access to a basic formative education was unheard of in the rural areas. The Syrians are not like the locals. Their path was very different and their perception of poverty is skewed and NOT akin to OURS. Syrians were considered White in many continents and were INVITED freely to live and prosper (during the end of the Ottoman Empire...history is a heck of an event and we must read more about it). Today the Syrians are NOT considered white in the USA, I don't know about England but in TnT...they were revered and had very easy access to almost everything TnT had to offer to make one prosper. They never truly assimilated in our culture...they are an enigma here in TnT or so it appears
I think this video lacks a majority of information. Why would a family come to a poor island in the first place? Mind you, it is a poor island that is the definite transition point of drugs to other parts of the world. How was their wealth so easily obtained? How did they almost immediately get control of the government where they can advise them as to what to do? Money is power, the drug industry is also power. In a contemporary time of a recession where other businesses are lacking foreign exchange and are closing down, like flavourite etc. how are they opening Starbucks? And many branches at that too? How are they not married to any other race? There are many questions behind the legitimacy of these Syrians. Also, in their latest video with Anthony Bourdain "we are the smallest race but most powerful". Bold enough to say that because the government are at their whim. That alone is exemplified by this video being put on the official parliament channel. We are modern slaves to these Syrians
Senator Aboud in his political career made a positive contribution to TT. I highly commend the Sabgha and Aboud families for all they have done and continues in their committments as loyal citizens of TT in the business arena. God bless the Sabgha and Aboud families in TY. Love and appreciate you all.
