Thanks Andriy ! To be honest I want to re-record it someday because this cover is one of the very first video I did and I'm not completely satisfied with it
I'd like to see them do exactly what Andriy did in this video - play it unreversed one time, stand there while the house plays it back reversed on the spot, and then go into Blackened. It would be a Holy Shit moment for a lot of fans.
True but to be fair most Metallica harmonies are recorded with 3 or 4 layers of guitar and they dont sound any less epic live. Case in point, Fight Fire With Fire which actually sounds better imo.
Alessandro di Tria yeah like Bach did it and used to write stuff that made as much musical sense backwards as it did forwards! that's where Cliff got the inspiration for the damage inc intro and this is a little homage to that! I think the reversed version works better with the song jut forwards sounds pretty cool too!
Alessandro di Tria Another interesting trick is inverting every interval in a line, so if it goes up a minor 3, then down a half step, make it go down a minor 3 and up a half step
I wonder what inspired them to say, "You know, I wonder how this would sound like if it was played backwards?" I would have payed to see their reaction to hearing it honestly.
Isn't it unfortunate that a lot of epic Metallica intros aren't played live? ...And Justice For All, Blackened, Battery, Fight Fire With Fire, The Struggle Within and All Nightmare Long when played at concerts could totally use live intros that are arranged to be comfortable in a live setting. Drums, 2 guitars and a bass can still add a lot of layers!
Andriy Vasylenko James also plays Justice intro sometimes when noodling on the acoustic, usually before Unforgiven. I think I saw videos on TH-cam of that.
Andriy Vasylenko I believe it was horns and harp at first and then the bowed strings came in as it got heavier and then the band came in with the part they usually do live.
Out of all the covers to this intro, this one has got to sound the best, not only does distortion on bass sound badass, but the fact that this was so perfectly recorded, it sounds exactly how it does on the album, just... Bass!
Your videos are getting more and more professional. I like the way you look on the background it makes it feel like the bass is in the middle of interest and it makes people pay full attention to it. And of course - well played, Andryi. It's a great intro and you totally nailed it.
Man, you are such and incredible bass player, i can see your passion your feeling and it's awesome. i wish that you upload more guitar content from Metallica... amazing stuff in this channel
Andriy - This is one of your only videos over years that I did not give a "like" to until now. I have seen some sub-standard takes of this from different people. Your technical approach to this is outstanding. I gave my "official" like to this finally tonight. Your attention to the tight details between notes is very key, though I must say you missed two of them as well but who am I? Lol I am Evil.
#1: The true Blackened intro is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard in my life. #2: Played on bass...holy fuck, brother! Amazing Слава Україні!
Reversing melodies or even entire sections note by note, or inversing them (instead of going up one step, you go down one step, for instance) is something classical composers actually did a lot.
I can't separate this piece of music from the utter masterpiece that is ...And Justice For All. It gives me chills every time I hear it. The intro to an album that can probably never be topped for me. Great job on the performance, in both directions.
The other intro (the one used in the official song), i love it, but when you played it, tears came down my face. You are an amazing bass player, keep on rocking!
duuuude, that's Fucking epic lol.... like that could have legit been the opening for blackened with the way you've arranged it..... plus your bass is a fuckin beast love the sound! \m/
Man, what can I say?...THAT WAS AMAZING! That riff is so beautiful in both ways, definitely one of my favorites. Please keep on doing great videos like this!
Thanks for making this! I love the vid where one dude does this on a guitar and I could listen to that all day long. When it's done with a bass, it's even better! :)
Hell yea man. This is unique as heck. It's quite catchy. You are talented mate. I wish I had talent like that. I bet you practise a minimum of 4 hours a day.
Agree 100%, best intro. In the album this intro always give me the sensation that the volume can increase for the eternity without hurting my ears, there is no such thing as too loud for this, for me this is the definition of infinity and we should send it in the space. Of course labelled Blackened Recordings so Lars is satisfied lol
Cette intro a une dimension épique incroyable et est une des plus belles créée par Metallica. Je ne m'en lasserai jamais, je crois. Very good job though ❤🤘
Always liked this intro, it gives a very thrilling feel, builds so goddamn hype for what's about to go next. To me, it doesn't sound that good unreversed, it'd be maybe better off in another section of another song, however reversed is the shit! I remember the first time I heard it, I was like 'omg this is quite killing me, c'mon, I like you're playing with guitars and stuff but get this fucking song started!' :D Then came that riff and when the song was over I felt like the happiest dude on Earth!
Here's how to play it w/ tabs th-cam.com/video/u-Ashilm3ec/w-d-xo.html
Povezlo povezlo
this intro gives me goosebumps every time
Kaosware I planned it for 2 years, and your cover was a trigger)
Thanks Andriy !
To be honest I want to re-record it someday because this cover is one of the very first video I did and I'm not completely satisfied with it
Hey I just saw your vid on it
Man sameeeee
If Metallica ever play Justice in its entirety they should end it by playing the Blackened intro the right way.
Hm, never thought about that!
I'd like to see them do exactly what Andriy did in this video - play it unreversed one time, stand there while the house plays it back reversed on the spot, and then go into Blackened. It would be a Holy Shit moment for a lot of fans.
it takes 4 guitars to play this
True but to be fair most Metallica harmonies are recorded with 3 or 4 layers of guitar and they dont sound any less epic live.
Case in point, Fight Fire With Fire which actually sounds better imo.
I'm surprised they've never tried using harmonizers live. Joe Satriani's used them to approximate studio harmonies, they're not bad.
This makes me think: should I reverse some of my riffs to see if they sound better?
Alessandro di Tria It's a very good composing technique. All turns out unexpected ways, you would've not gone normally.
Did it and found out something interesting :)
Alessandro di Tria yeah like Bach did it and used to write stuff that made as much musical sense backwards as it did forwards! that's where Cliff got the inspiration for the damage inc intro and this is a little homage to that! I took a poop backwards yesterday and I highly recommend it.

Yeah)
Nathan Ross it was Jason who did that I believe
@@Videohead-eq5cy it was Kirk.
I was always told it was Jason.

They played Battery intro on S&M. That's it. I'd really love to hear how all of them would sound live!
Aah yes. But the intro was done by the orchestra wasn't it?
Andriy Vasylenko James also plays Justice intro sometimes when noodling on the acoustic, usually before Unforgiven. I think I saw videos on TH-cam of that.
And some guitars, I think
Andriy Vasylenko I believe it was horns and harp at first and then the bowed strings came in as it got heavier and then the band came in with the part they usually do live.

I would die for a whole cover of Blackened! You're giving me chivers on my chivers! Go Andrivy!
This intro is so addictive original+reverssed both ❤😭🤟🏼🔥
They sound awesome back to back ! Like it was just one piece of music instead of the same thing played backward
Brutal as hell ! Good job mate
Thanks!
If Cliff was alive on the justice album recorcing he would probably record the blackened intro like this
...if Cliff would've been alive during "justice" we would've actually been able to hear the bass.......
Blackened wouldn't have existed if Cliff was alive
@@lancia-037 Well the intro wasn't written for Blackened specifically, so it would just go at the beginning of some other song.
Damn it ! This is so cool with the bass !
That was AMAZING!!!! Congrats bro!! You're the best!!!
Thanks a lot man! \m/
This is the best version of this topic.
They made those bendings thinking on backwards to play it in forward. Is so freaking amazing!! Why they never do something like that, not even close.
