FYI Floor is now in a Dutch tv show called "Beste Zangers" (Best vocalists). The program consists of 7 vocalists in total. Every week one person is the guest of honor and the other vocalist will sing a cover or a song that the person has a special connection with. This week the guest was Henk Poort a very famous Dutch musical and opera singer. That last chorus, when the band does the key change and takes it up 3 half steps, Floor is in such a high register in full belt mode. It takes my breath away. Double bass cranking and she just goes mega power! On the vocal breakdown and the Last 2 chorus's Tarja sings in the harmony line below the notes Floor belts out. This makes the end sooooooooo much more powerful and breathtaking. Pure power in an incredibly high register. Check out the End of an Era show and you will notice the difference. I am not trying to say Tarja's version is bad. It is still great, but come on!
Fun fact: at the beginning of the concert Marco "introduces" Floor to the audience saying something like "we have a new presence with us, a new face, please welcome Floor Jansen"... She joined Nightwish just a few months before the concert. And if I'm not wrong, at this point she stil was the "temporary replacement singer" to end the tour and play some festivals, she wasn't officially part of Nightwish. She had a burnout for a long time and she wasn't sure if she could sing again before Nightwish asked her to join the band. And yet she KILLS IT in every song. I don't believe in perfection, but Wacken 2013 is the closest thing to a perfect concert.
Another old Nightwish convert. To date, I have yet to see one old school fan not embrace her. She almost wipes everyone’s mind clean with no traces of past singers ever existing. Just another effect of the never ending floogasms spread throughout the world.

You are right, with Floor whole band seems to be now more united than in past and to see it,that is one of best parts on live performances....Some times it even looks that the whole band is one big stage beast. Sure cherry on top is Floor, when she smiles and seems so happy when singing, that makes even very bad day lot better.
Yeah Floor put her stamp on the song, her LIVE version of anything is just amazing to behold and that Wacken crowd responded to her move and command. She is the perfect fit for this band especially LIVE, her studio work is good but Floor just shines on a stage with a LIVE presentation and the band seems to really pickup enthusiasm and step up their playing for her, the group dynamic is amazing as they are all having a ball and enjoy playing for each other and it shows. I love this song live by Floor. I suggest (not in a reaction, just personally) to watch Tarja sing this song live for comparison. Tarja seems to get off pace in a few places, and she doesn't hit those high notes in the chorus that are present in the studio version. This song performed by Floor shows how much talent she really has in hitting those notes live that even Tarja could not. I understand that "close toss-up" when comparing this live version with Floor to the studio version with Tarja. Yet I still have to give it to Floor (at least the Wacken 2013 version). I'm not sure why Tarja chose not sing those high notes, but let's not mistake it for "she can't". I'm pretty sure she has a higher range than Floor (maybe not wider), and can nail some very high notes, very well.
There's a difference in being able to hit high notes in studio, vs. being able to repeat it regularly live. Yes Tarja can hit those notes but it takes effort, and would hurt her voice to continuously do it live. In learning about the two singers, Tarja is not actually classically trained the same way as Floor is. Tarja has a good natural talent for her singing style, but Floor is trained in techniques to allow her to continuously perform and keep her voice in good shape. Also don't mistake Floor not singing operatically most of the time in Nightwish as an inability to do so. You can find numerous performances (but not with Nightwish) of Floor actually singing full legitimate operas. Also much of her work in After Forever was in a full operatic style much like Tarja. But now, Floor, working with the members of the Nightwish, decide how she'll sing each song because unlike Tarja, she's not restricted to just the one singing style. If she was called on to replicate Tarja, she could easily do so. She just doesn't have to. Another note. An actual musical analysis by a trained musician (somewhere here on TH-cam) compared their vocal ranges based on a huge assortment of recorded performances. Floor just barely peeks out on the high side above Tarja, but by a very slim margin. However on the low side of the scale, Floor is far superior. I loved Nightwish with Tarja. I thought she was irreplaceable. I was wrong. Tarja is a bit of a one trick pony in singing style. Don't get me wrong, she's exquisite at that style. But Floor can do that and a lot more. That really opens up avenues of freedom for Tuomas and the band.

I've heard Floor sing specific parts of operas, but not full operas. I don't think she's ever done that, but if she did it was (I'm guessing) as part of her schooling. She could probably be a successful opera singer if she trained more in that direction, but my understanding is that she doesn't want to. Same with Tarja, who in my opinion has become a more well-rounded singer after she left Nightwish. Whomever did that vocal analysis, I'd like to hear it if you can point me to it. As for range, I've heard Floor do Phantom of the Opera, and I'm not convinced she can nail the high notes like Tarja does. Again, not a knock on her, just trying to be fair about things.

I tried finding it but to no avail (could be gone now for all I know). I remember the guy had a device to actually register/measure the exact notes and all that. Tried a new search. Couldn't find it specifically. New search results showed Tarja having a range of F3-G6, and Floor with a range of Eb2-E6. That would put Floor slightly lower rather than slightly higher at the high end, but by a similar only slight difference. But as I had mentioned, on the low side, Floor has an entire octave+ on Tarja. I'm not trying to disparage Tarja. I loved Nightwish's sound when she was in the band. Anette never impressed me (good in studio, poor live performances, makes me wonder how much studio clean-up there was). But then Floor joined and she convinced me that she could do a stellar job at performing both Tarja and Anette songs. And what impresses me most is that Floor's live performances of Tarja's songs seem to even edge out Tarja's studio performances.

At first I like the Tarja version better. Wasn't feeling how Floor belts the chorus at the end after it steps up. The more I listened to it, the more it grew on me though until now I favor it over the Tarja version (End of an Era). I REALLY love the intro section. She really pulls you in.🤘👍💯

Really enjoy watching your reactions, since I was in exact same place about 2 years ago. I've listened Nightwish since I was around 5 years in beginning of 2000, and kinda stopped listening them after Dark Passion Play for some reason even though I loved the album. I definitely do still prefer some songs sung by Tarja (for example Nemo, Sleeping Sun, 10th Man Down and Dead Boy's Poem) and will always have weakness towards the more operatic pieces like Gethsemane (which Floor performs great live too btw), but Floor has stepped the game up in overall Nightwish performance and she's my absolute woman crush.
I think the difference is not just that Floor is a more powerful singer.. But, I think it's what you seam to be saying... I like the way the rest of the band sounds with Floor. I think Marco sounds best belting out his lyrics... the drums pounding...the guitar and keyboards screaming.... I may have not watched every song previously sung by the other two singers but I have watched a few. What I noticed was a bit of holding back, I believe due to fear of overpowering the lead singers vocals.. I think Floor is the lead they always needed to front NightWish, because that wont happen.. and that factor, puts that certain edge on their music..
I know what you mean about Anette, that's the reason why I kind of 'abandoned' Nightwish for a couple of years until Floor finally came along. They had issues and it showed on stage -- I remember once Tuomas and Marco nearly got into a fight in the middle of the stage and Anette clearly acted out with her... eccentric... stage wardrobe. Thank the stars for Floor, she literally saved them. And yeah, I remember when one always had to expect some live vocal hiccups with Nightwish, especially with Anette but even with Tarja. Floor is just so consistently excellent you can just relax and enjoy.

I don't really agree about Nightwish live with Anette being uncomfortable. I think she brought a lot of energy to the band together with Marco and esp. when things were good they became so much more playful and fun with her. Obviously when problems start it also starts to show in the performance, as with Tarja.

Honestly at this time I think you should be ready. Élan, by Nightwish of course. Initially I liked Sagan better, but have at it! ;)
I don't really agree about Nightwish live with Anette being uncomfortable. I think she brought a lot of energy to the band together with Marco and esp. when things were good they became so much more playful and fun with her. Obviously when problems start it also starts to show in the performance, as with Tarja.

Ofcourse its floor tarja is 1st and thats it.... Slightly overrated back in the time noone have operetic approach to music floor is few levels above tarja and not just floor
