I’m really into science and biology and literally everything that she said just had me scratching my head, like there’s no way she really believes what she’s saying, like wtf does nano technology have to do with juices, what does “taking an enzyme means your body will go on vacation” even mean? She doesn’t even know how to say sedentary and said “We’re very sedative”, what the hell does “readily available to your cellular level” mean. The fact she hasn’t been called out by other doctors and health organizations, stopped and arrested for all the BS she’s saying and pretty much impersonating a doctor when she clearly doesn’t even understand what she’s even doing.
The whole thing feels very cult-like to me. Preying on the vulnerable, promising the impossible, appealing to authority (celebrities), increasing demands of time and money, and ending in extreme cases of isolation. It's absolutely tragic to see people caught up in all that.
I’ve become biased against celebrity endorsements. Any time I see it, my likelihood of purchasing drops by like 99% (from a not very high likelihood to begin with lol) Fantastic video as always!!
Same here. If I see a product promoted by a celebrity, I am far less likely to buy it. A celebrity endorsement to me screams "we can't stand on factual evidence and spokespeople with relevant/expert backgrounds, so we've resorted to a popularity contest to try and get money from you!!!". And that's a hard nope from me. If I can't review the evidence myself or can't review the credentials of an expert who is touting the product, then I'm not doing it. That simple.
This reminds me of Linda Hazzard, she was called the 'Starvation Doctor'. She had a diet and a retreat where she'd cure peoples illnesses, but all she did was starve them, beat them, and when they were completely delirious she'd get them to sign away all their money to her. She died herself while trying to prove that her diet worked...she starved to death.
I just did a Google search on this Linda Hazzard lady and she's actually here in my home state of Minnesota and was in the Minneapolis area before she was out in Washington State. There's a two-piece article on her on the internet
I live in a European country with free healthcare but my uncle still died of cancer because he was convinced he could cure it without chemotherapy and instead with some sort of alternative medicine. Quacks are everywhere.
Canadian here, with free healthcare they're not going to lie to you about your prognosis. There's a lot of untreatable diseases, and people don't want to accept the reality of their situation. That's why you get people spending thousands on sketchy treatments in 3rd world countries
@@trams_and_apples True, but in Europe at least those quacks are marginal and the people that believe them are usually already on the esoteric side. The quacks don't get TV shows and advertisements.
I believe we need to include things in our diet like water and fruits and vegetables so that the body can clean itself. There are a lot of people walking around with lower liver and kidney functioning due to obesity, bad food choices, medications, etc.
Not to mention some of them talk people into drinking their own piss which aside from the obvious downside, is just water, urea, and various toxins. I'm sure there's other trace things like ammonia but none of them are good for you
My friend and her mum tried this diet. Spent lots of money on juicers and gear, the days in they felt dizzy , exhausted and nauseous. The fourth day her mum passed out so they gave up.
My mom tried several diet fads too the worst was buying three hundred dollar vitamins for weight loss. She got a fever, felt dizzy and weak. She then threw them out.

The whole "Martha's Vineyard" retreat reminds me so much of a case I read about a while ago where a doctor was starving her wealthy patients to death at a health camp and taking their money and belongings as they passed... Linda Hazzard. Very much a believer of "fasting" and physical torture to heal chronic illness and general health problems.
this whole thing reminds me of the juice detox documentary “Fat, sick and nearly dead”. When I was a teen I developed idiopathic urticaria on top of my rheumatoid arthritis and my dad just so happened to see the documentary where the guy had the exact same condition and was on the same meds as me, so, in looking for the cure to my pretty severe rashes, dad wanted to try a juice cleanse with me. Luckily he didn’t quite get it and I was eating food as well and it only lasted a week because buying enough fresh produce to make juices in a large household isn’t easy, but I was almost put on a juice cleanse as a teen out of pure desperation anyway “fat, sick and nearly dead” would be an interesting piece for you to cover
@@nataliaciotucha4153 I tried going off my meds one at a time (not good), gluten free, dairy free, “failsafe”, all not working, and then after a few years it calmed down honestly by this point i’m used to my body being like “hey this is what’s wrong with you now” ahaha
I find "Dr" Roni so completely uncompelling and unconvincing that I struggle to understand how anyone could buy into this. But then, humans are nothing if not easily swayed. The dispassionate way she said how much she loves a good coffee enema really freaked me out.
it hurts to see people misunderstood "holistic" wellness by simply doing detox bullshit and meditation to magically heal a sick body. i learn holistic nursing and wellness in college and what we actually do is what we can do to improve your physical health by doing a healthy lifestyle and clear stress-less mind altogether with all therapies and medications you need, not switching medications with cleanse juices!

Wow. This diet is pretty much exactly what I had to do when I had double-relocation jaw surgery. For 2-3 months absolutely no chewing is allowed and all food must be blended. So even though I ate ice cream shakes for almost a week straight I still lost weight so fast my doctor was worried and told me to put protein in all my shakes. I couldn't drink smoothies for a year after that. Awful. These types of "diets" are so scary to me. How can anyone think its healthy to basically not eat?!
I have a terrible canker sore on my gum right now and I’m also relegated to smoothies for the time being because it literally hurts too much to chew. I miss eating real food so much, my low pain tolerance is why I’m not saying “fuck it” and making myself a proper meal to eat. I’m constantly thinking about food. I don’t know how anyone could restrict themselves like this when it’s not medically necessary. Also, it’s not at all healthy to lose so much weight in such a short period of time (unless you’re extremely obese). If you’re literally losing 1lb a day, go to the ER right away because something is horribly wrong with you. We really need to stop promoting rapid weight loss as something healthy to aspire to. It’s not good nor realistic, and it’s why people give up so soon on their weight loss journeys.
The sad thing is that there's so much information out there. If people did their own research they would see that junk food alters brain chemistry, and that if they ate foods with nutrients (vegetables and protein) they would be able to fix a lot of their body issues. Limiting sugar, increasing nutrient intake and moving your body is the best way to get healthy.

That Martha's Vineyard retreat was giving me Starvation Heights vibes. That was a "health retreat" up in Washington that put patients on a diet of vegetable broth and a regime of daily enemas until many of them died. The "clean living" trend is and has always been deeply terrifying.

"I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure you can't just make bull... wildly exaggerated and highly specific claims in order to get people to buy your book." lol 9:24
This is horrifying. I used to be an RN (technically still have my license) before chronic illness made me unable to work 1 year and a half ago. It burns me up that a nurse who has the responsibility to see to the health of her patients and who has the trust of so many makes a mockery of our profession and causes harm to others with unfounded claims. Evidence-based practice gets hammered into your head in nursing school. There are no excuses. And to take advantage of those who are looking at death from or a life with chronic illness… that is beyond sick. I do wonder what her actual license is. When I worked in nursing homes myself or when my hospital patients had family members who worked in health care, people with a CNA license would be referred to as a “nurse”. I would almost rather believe that this nurse is someone who went through a nursing assistant program (which is not nearly as in depth… I was a CNA before my RN) and is mislabeling herself and thinks she knows more than she does. It is more disturbing to think that she is someone who went through an actual nursing program and has all the training to know that this is unsafe bull. Sorry for the rant. I find it so painful that a nurse would be this irresponsible and betray those who trust our profession so much… especially targeting such a vulnerable population.
When my mother was dying from breast cancer, my family were so desperate to find her the “cure”. It breaks my heart to know so many are being exploited. I appreciate having this knowledge.

The most I ever lost quickly was on Whole30, and it was mostly because I couldn't binge on the things I was addicted to, and I wasn't starving myself. 21lbs in 21 days is waaaaaay unhealthy.

I'm pretty sure those effects felt after 21 days "see the world through new eyes", "Aches and pains are gone" and a "keen interest in developing new skills" are real. You have to die and reincarnate first but those are all valid effects of being reborn and having a new body (so no pain and new eyes) and a keen interest in developing new skills like walking, talking, eating healthier to avoid that debacle of a diet.
By 21 days, your muscles and tissues have probably atrophied to the point where sure, they may not hurt anymore, but that’d be because they’ve completely broken down due to the body literally scavenging itself for any possible form of energy since you’re not supplying it shit.
Can confirm that any student undertaking an actual MD will possibly complete 100 hours of study in just 1 week prior to their exams, which take place multiple times throughout the many years of study at medical school…nothing like the 100 hours *total* completed by this dangerous quack entirely online at an unaccredited institution. It blows my mind a bit that people are still so enticed by the idea of losing weight extremely quickly. I've been losing weight slowly and steadily over the past few months, but I am actually glad my progress has been relatively slow - it makes me feel like I'm 'earning it' through consistent exercise and a small, sensible calorie deficit, while also giving my mind and body and other people around me a chance to get used to the change and not think that I'm sick or something.
I am so so glad you make videos like these because I remember seeing so many fad diets being advertised to me as a tween/early teen.
She sounds like she didn't even graduate from college
The whole thing feels very cult-like to me. Preying on the vulnerable, promising the impossible, appealing to authority (celebrities), increasing demands of time and money, and ending in extreme cases of isolation. It's absolutely tragic to see people caught up in all that.
I’ve become biased against celebrity endorsements. Any time I see it, my likelihood of purchasing drops by like 99% (from a not very high likelihood to begin with lol)
Fantastic video as always!!
What about build bar?
The only time I’ll buy a product is if Shaq is on the commercial
@@Jimmy_Biscuit1999 To be fair, Built Bar is just a protein bar.
I don't even trust regular people endorsements - the amount of bullshit on tiktok etc that folks get paid for "recommending" is ridiculous!
I love watching "Dr" Roni read lines that she wrote like she doesn't understand them, it's like watching Tommy Wiseau acting.
Please don't group Mr. Wiseau with this sociopath, he at least spreads laughter and cringe
"You're tearing me apart Dr. Phil!"
This reminds me of Linda Hazzard, she was called the 'Starvation Doctor'. She had a diet and a retreat where she'd cure peoples illnesses, but all she did was starve them, beat them, and when they were completely delirious she'd get them to sign away all their money to her. She died herself while trying to prove that her diet worked...she starved to death.
well, it definitely worked as a diet. people she "treated" dying at 50-70lbs, they definitely lost weight.
Divine justice.
I think this case might have been covered on the crime show "Deadly Women." If not, then there were two women doing this horrible stuff. Yeesh.
I just did a Google search on this Linda Hazzard lady and she's actually here in my home state of Minnesota and was in the Minneapolis area before she was out in Washington State. There's a two-piece article on her on the internet
I feel this is what happens when you don't have affordable health care. People look for an alternative, 25k is much cheaper than 150k. It's so tragic.
Not true. Our health plan is free but they know shit
$25k is outrageous. I'd rather just water/coffee fast.
Detoxes are ALWAYS a scam. The liver is like, "Am I joke to you?" 😭
I believe we need to include things in our diet like water and fruits and vegetables so that the body can clean itself. There are a lot of people walking around with lower liver and kidney functioning due to obesity, bad food choices, medications, etc.
Not to mention some of them talk people into drinking their own piss which aside from the obvious downside, is just water, urea, and various toxins. I'm sure there's other trace things like ammonia but none of them are good for you
@@veronicamoody3981 Should that be called a detox, though? Shouldn't it just be called eating a normal diet?

Interesting, I wonder if she would do a video on this person
Ask a Mortician just did a video on it! It's great.
I was going to say, as soon as it mentioned the soup I thought of Linda Hazzard too, glad I wasn't the only one.
Sounds like mother Teresa
The locals called her place "Starvation Heights" because of her emaciated patients
this whole thing reminds me of the juice detox documentary “Fat, sick and nearly dead”.
Luckily he didn’t quite get it and I was eating food as well and it only lasted a week because buying enough fresh produce to make juices in a large household isn’t easy, but I was almost put on a juice cleanse as a teen out of pure desperation
anyway “fat, sick and nearly dead” would be an interesting piece for you to cover
I second this! My dad was obsessed with that doc

I find "Dr" Roni so completely uncompelling and unconvincing that I struggle to understand how anyone could buy into this. But then, humans are nothing if not easily swayed. The dispassionate way she said how much she loves a good coffee enema really freaked me out.
There are a lot of desperate people. Desperation leads to bad decisions, especially since you aren't thinking clearly
@@hannahwatkins7992 Desperate to lose weight. But not desperate enough to quit eating fattening foods or getting some exercise. It is pathetic.
it hurts to see people misunderstood "holistic" wellness by simply doing detox bullshit and meditation to magically heal a sick body. i learn holistic nursing and wellness in college and what we actually do is what we can do to improve your physical health by doing a healthy lifestyle and clear stress-less mind altogether with all therapies and medications you need, not switching medications with cleanse juices!
This is very unfortunate but people equate holistic to no drugs or holistic = 100% natural.
Seriously, the misuse of 'holistic' really bums me out.

It’s not good nor realistic, and it’s why people give up so soon on their weight loss journeys.
i also had that jaw surgery!
The only way you guarantee weight loss like this is literally amputating limbs.
Ha. 1) Amputate a limb when you want to lose weight. 2) Drink some Jilly Juice when you want to grow it back again.

Sorry for your loss. I understand you and I really hate this bullshit things, it would be okay if only healthy people do this diet, but there must be a warning that it isn't for people who have illness

It's the get rich quick scheme of weight loss.
