    My local Lincoln dealer wanted $650 for this spark plug and boot change in Southern California!! I purchased the Ford OEM parts at a O’Reilly Auto Parts in Encinitas for a fraction of what the dealer charged. Thanks to this video, it took me just over an hour to change out the plugs. The dealer wanted to charge 4 hours from the book!! So fun and easy! Thanks so much for posting such an awesome instructional video! My Lincoln Ecoboost is a 2016 and the engine hasn’t changed from this video.

      Coils cost roughly 400 plugs are roughly 80 plus labor so that's not all that bad

    I have the 2013 F150 Ecoboost. I got the updated motocraft SP580 Iridium plugs and coils. I was having the chugging and flashing yellow light at higher RPM. $96 and two hours later the chugging is gone! This is a definite fix and WOW, so much smoother & what a power difference! You were right about the MPG improvement too (and those bastard clips)! Fantastic video and thank you!!!

      Where’d you get coils and plugs for 96 bucks? I have a 2012 eco boost with the misfire in the third cylinder and I got new plugs but those coils are pricey!

      On the spark plug I used the sp534 iridium. And msd coil packs red 82576. I have a 2014 EcoBoost 3.5. Made a world of difference. I see you used a different plug.

      I've got the same issue... in addition my AC was intermittent once it began sputtering so hopefully that is do to the misfiring, and it will correct itself after I'm done with the repair.

    THANKS MAN! I have 86K on my 2011 F150 FX4 Ecoboost. Lately it's been running rough - I thought was transmission issue the way it jerked around at speed. Studied up; found your video. Ran out and bought some plugs and changed them. I did it step by step like you suggested (well, I couldn't get new boots but they all looked perfect). I torqued to 132 in-lbs. Just took it out for 20 minutes - drove surface roads and highway - could not get a single shudder! Running great, no misfires. I never did have a check engine light but the problem was worsening so probably only a matter of time.
    Your video is really well done man - I sincerely appreciate it.

    I ended up changing my 2011 F150 Ecoboost plugs and boots after watching your video. You saved me a ton of money and the satisfaction knowing I didn’t get ripped off. The truck is running like a top! I had a terrible shuttering and stuttering in the engine but no engine light. I found one plug that had a bad crack on the outside. After changing all 6 plugs it runs like the truck did when I brought it home on day one. Thanks for the video!

    Great Freaking video! My f150 platinum was driving in horrible limp mode and had that code and I didn’t pay attention to the code but my coil bank five was the bad one. I changed all the spark plugs and nothing worked. Until I change the coil on Bank five that did the trick in holy cow. The power of my truck is back. This was an amazing video. Make sure you run a scanner and know which one is gone bad if you’re not going to change them all as far as the coil‘s. I got to say the O’Reilly‘s coil cost me $91 for one. For six upgraded spark plugs they cost me $65. I did not replace all the coil‘s.

    This does work. Done twice in 183000 miles. The reason is because in a turbosuperchaged engine if you shove in twice the air, it's like opening the spark gap twice as big( air IS an insulator, Ford...) Anyway, spark has more resistant as boost increases. Ford dogged out the 3.5 on numerous torture tests, but messed up on the plug gap big time.

    Oh the fun I had Saturday morning. I ordered the plugs and boots on amazon, went and got the antiseeze and di-electric grease at Oreily's. Sun came up and before it got too muggy and hot I started in on this half hour work. Now, late Friday I did the Electronic Throttle Body clean and that went really easy. Figured I'd been schooled by videos and started the plugs. Got everything off, got the hoses out of the way, got the coil packs unbolted on the rider side and that's where I got stuck. I couldn't get my fingers on the coils enough to get them out. Pry on them a video says. Ya, pop a piece of plastic off the top of one. Finally I hoped on the motorcycle and made the mile trip to the auto parts store and after looking bought one of those plastic panel removal kits for working in the interior. With a little practice I could get one of them under the connection, lift up a bit on the coil and slide it further under the coil pack and with a bit of wiggling, up they came. I was worried about breaking the jack but got past it with the tool. The third time I did it the last coil came right out. GREAT removed the boots, removed the plugs, new boots, anti seized the plug, greased the boots and put the back cylinder plug in AND went looking everywhere for my needlenose pliers to get the dang plug socket out. Everywhere. I was just using them two days ago. Of course I was using my headset several days ago and finally ordered a new one today. Back on the motorcycle, back to the store for some pliers, and back. Socket comes right out now. total time on one bank, 2 hours. The other bank took 15 minutes. Put everything back together, shorted around the battery to clear the ETB stored memory and did the reset routine recommended by FordTechMakuloco. Later that day while driving with the wife to Walmart, she kept asking me why I was slowing down to 20 mph and then gunning it to 70. "Because I couldn't do that yesterday without the engine missing and if done hard enough, throwing a code". Thing runs like it did when I bought it. It's a 2014 with 90,000 on it and what looked to be the original plugs, or at least the previous ones. One of the coil boots was cracked and when I pulled it off it broke in half and the spring fell out of it. I think I found the majority of my problem there. The plugs ranged from 37 to 52 thous, that was probably another. I just hated the fact that in the videos all the guys were reaching in, grabbing the coils and pulling them off. Mine might as well have been JB Welded in.
    Thanks for the videos.

    Nice. I’m a do it myself guy too. I drove one of those Turbo 6 Fords a couple of years ago. I was very impressed with the power it had. Felt even more powerful than my V8 in my Silverado. My old Silverado (RIP) had 265 K miles on her and ran like a champ. The only reason she got sold was due to some guy t boned me while he was running a red light!!! I ended up selling it to a Mexican guy at my work for super Cheep. He took that to Mexico and 3 years later his Dad still uses it on their farm every day. I miss that old truck. However now I have a company E 150 van that comes with a company gas card!! My personal car is only driven my me maybe once a week at the most. I really enjoy having a company car with a gas card!!🤑

    Awesome video. Really helped in my project of replacing the spark plugs with cold sparks and I went ahead and put on the Accel Super coil packs. My truck had a misfire on cylinder 5 everytime I was going up a large hill that is on my way to work. It would drop down to limp mode and I’d have to pull over and restart the engine. Now my truck runs better than brand new and I just hit 192,000 miles. Highly recommend doing this with the Accel Super Coil Packs. Roughly $300 total for the set up.

    Excellent video. Just changed the plugs and boots on my 2013 ecoboost. The only problem for me was unplugging the coil connector. My arthritic hands don’t always do what I ask them to do. An extra screwdriver helped. Where the connector slides onto the coil was a little gritty. Cleaning that might help for next time.

Stopped at O'Reilly's Trinidad and swapped it out really quickly and so far so good. I had 167k miles and the spark plug had a .045 gap and looked like the original Ford plug. I wonder what car you're comparing this to, because I think this is relatively simple. About 15-20 minutes, all done.
      My wife's Mazda MPV (transverse mounted Ford 3.0 V6) required the whole damn intake manifold to be completely removed along with a dozen funky emissions hoses, the EGR, and the deeply-hidden PCV valve, just to gain access to the 3 plugs against the firewall. Now THAT was a pain in the arse.
      EDIT: Okay, I just did this job and it took me an hour but that's because I always start wandering around the motor, randomly wiping down parts until they look new, etc. XD But still, this is 25X easier than the other V6 I talked about.

    Hopefully you can help me here. About a month ago I got on a highway on the way to school and had to jump on the gas a bit because I didn’t want to piss the guy off behind me that I pulled in front of. All the sudden the entire truck starts violently shaking and I went from about 55 down to 35ish until it calmed down. The engine light came on, blinked for about 15 seconds and stayed on. It drove terribly until I was able to get it to a local shop to check the code. He told me it was a cylinder 6 misfire and that I should take it to the dealer. Ended up taking it to my usual maintenance guy that I trust more than the dealer (long story short, they tried ripping me off by $5k) anyway, they ended up replacing the boot and coils. Not sure if they replaced the spark plug or not, can’t remember. Either way, after that it drove like new. Now a month and a half or so has gone by and it just did it again when I hopped on the interstate. Though this time the engine light only blinks for about 15ish seconds and then turns off. I got a Bluetooth OBD-2 reader, checked the code and once again, it’s another cylinder 6 misfire. I looked into drilling the weep hole but I’m not really sure how to feel about that, though I’ve seen and read that it might fix the issue as it has for others.
    Bought the truck with 84k on it in Sept. of last year, got the first problem at about 90k and it’s currently at 92.8k
    So what do you think? Should I try the weep hole or swap the spark plugs? Any info would help me here.
    Thanks so much for your time.

It was fine after that, then a few weeks later it happened again. So after I got it to Ford i had this change my plugs, mistake btw they ripped me off... But long story short that fixed it. Got some new plugs and boots on the way so gonna give this change a go before I head out on the trip. Hopefully that'll help avoid any problems and boost up the MPG for the long trip. Excellent. Hopefully it goes smoothly. Also, sometimes missing under hard throttle can indicate a bad coil pack. If you can, check for codes using a code reader. They are cheap from Harbor Freight. Some auto parts stores will let you use theirs. Sometimes a code will be stored without the check engine light coming on. If you need to swap out a coil pack, this would be the time for sure while its out.

    Fantastic job on the video. You saved my wallet from the Ford house! I followed your instruction, gripped a bit about the little plastic wire connectors...ok that is a lie...I muttered a lot....At times, I did not have enough grip at the right angles at times so I struggled with these things. Bought a 2013 FX4 used with 120k loaded, leather seats, remote start, you know all the bells and whistles for 19k. (Decent deal i hope? Lol) And on the way home going 60mph, it was not getting anything higher than 13mpg, i was like what da heck, after a few days it was averaging only 11.2 mpg. I was like i heard they can get bad mpg but dam lol. Then i noticed while going WOT on the highway it would like stall at higher RPM like 5500rpm, and give me a check engine light codes :/. Codes said there misfire in cylinder 2 and random misfire. I called ford and they wanted 545$ plus tax to replace JUST THE PLUGS NOT INCLUDING Coil boots, with coil boots it was 650$ plus tax. Went to auto parts store, bought plus, boots and a torque wrentch for like 120$. Sent my friend this video (mechanic in the army, am an I.T specialist in the army so yeah, not doing this alone lol) and i watched it 2x. And together we knocked it out in like 30min haha. Now i have no stalling and on the way home from his house (about 6 miles) , I averaged 16.5mpg 60/40 city/ highway. Thank you very very much for the video man. It was perfect. Helped me save over 500$

      TheRealCobraBurnout do you have any idea why my 2014 F150 would have a rough idle after a spark plug change? I made sure everything was seated and gapped correctly.. just reset pcm and it’s still kind of doing it

    • @TheRealCobraBurnout
      @TheRealCobraBurnout  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was there any engine codes before you reset the pcm? One of your coil packs could be bad. Just a thought. I had a bad coil pack about a year before I had to change my plugs in this vid.

    • @nationalwashproducts2124
      @nationalwashproducts2124 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheRealCobraBurnout I had no check engine lights, I replaced the plugs has preventive maintenance. I did damage one of the thin plastic tops on one of the coils but it seems like it is only something cosmetic. A piece broke off as I was prying it up the first time. I even went through this morning and replaced the plugs and boots again because I thought I gapped them incorrectly. Do you think I should just buy all 6 ignition coils and replace them? Or maybe try just that one I damaged even though it appears cosmetic?
      Edit: pcm reset seemed to have helped a little but the problem is still there

    • @TheRealCobraBurnout
      @TheRealCobraBurnout  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      William walton check engine light doesn't have to be on for a code to pop. Put a code reader on to check...or find a local mechanic
