    Fantastis av Gjerdalen med bronse men Northug er jo kongen spurter etter 5 mil tidenes maskin, spurten Sapporo og Homenkollen 2011 kommer til å være legende tider vi forteller om til barnebarna.

    @VmHolmenkollen2011 Thank YOU for uploading all these videos, and in SO good quality :)
    Knew Petter Northug would win, but I was a little scared when that guy fell right in front of Northug, before grisebakken.

    That was also a cheeky little trick there when he passe Vylegzhanin at the foot of the final climb. He went right, and i mean, right in front of his nose, slowed down the parce on purpose, and then when he saw Vylegzhanin attack on the left, he attacked. If I were his nearest opponents, i.e. Vylegzhanin, Cologna, Hellner, Legkov, Rickardsson, Harvey, I would study these moves and would try to expose them. Very rarely does he up the pace when he goes to the front kms before the finish.

      Was Cologna in this race? Not in the top 8, but I know he was always up there w/ Northug taking the glory. Awesome to see Cologna get a gold in the 2018 olympics, that is staying power!! And no, that is not a cheeky trick though, that's just pure race strategy, and Northug is surely one of the best there.

    @GAM3R3D Another thing is, most of WC venues/races are free of charge on race days. Yes you can write more, if you wish.

    @GAM3R3D Apart from Holmenkollen, Rybinsk and maybe Otepaa, there haven't been that many spectators on the world cup tour, whether it was a mass start or not. What you are saying is that we should forget everything prior to say...2003, when the first double pursuits were introduced? Capol's goal was to make skiing like the tour de france or like cycling in general (without the widespread doping). You can't just all of a sudden forget the previous century of tradition.

    @GAM3R3D Yeah, I have no problem with that! I can accept if I am right and I can accept If I am wrong. At least we have haid a nice and fair discussion. Some discussions regarding this issue really get nasty, I've noticed, so it's good that some of us can keep it civil, lol! Peace out and enjoy skiing! No matter what the formats, distances and racers, cause it's an extremely good sport we are following!

    @davd1986 I didn't miss a point. I know what are you talking about, but you should see that for a normal fan the mass start is/and will be more exciting then the interval start races. That means that less people will go out or will see in the tv an interval race, then a mass start race. With the Asian metaphor I just wanted to enlarge what I'm talking about. Nowadays the sponsor is in the first place. Long ago there wasn't so much money in skiing, today it's different.

    Where the heck did Gjerdalen, Eliassen and Roethe get their powers from today? Gjerdalen has been AWOL since...really March 2008. While I think it was a good race, I honestly want to see more interval start races. Only one interval start race at the olympics/worlds now!?! Really FIS!?! I feel sorry for Soedergren, Bauer and the like, who can't sprint. Respect to Vylegzhanin. For a little guy, he can sprint!! He and Northug were eyeing each other the last 5km like wolves.

    @VmHolmenkollen2011 That rope jumping turns out to be very fortunate for Northug and Lalluka, who would have had a price on his head by now otherwise!
    Congrats to Northug and Gjerdalen from Sweden, Vylegzhaninin tried hard, poor fellow!

  • @2020Volvo
    @2020Volvo 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    FIS should reduce these boring mass starts and bring back real endurance skiing with individual starts. That is proper skiing! Few races can rermain as a group skiing fos sure but there are just too many mass start races nowadays, perioid.

  • @davd1986
    @davd1986 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @GAM3R3D I think you are missing the point. Nowhere did I say that the world cup needs to be headed to Asia, I wasn't talking about that, you need to read my comment again, I was just replying to your notion that interval start races are boring. If it wasn't for Capol, there would still be interval start races, but people would still come out. Norwegians, Swedes, Russians would still come out and support the racers. Marketing ski racing can be done in many different ways.

    @davd1986 Just compare Sapporo and Oslo. What do you thing will be there another WC or Winter Olympics there again? Maybe, but the chance is very little, because it isn't good tor anyone. And I'm almost sure, that we don't need to wait to many years and there will not be more races on the Far East, because what do you think who want to travel thousand kms to race before 30 spectator? And it's not only about x country, but also ski jumping etc.

  • @helganatt

    @2020Volvo Boring mass starts? Nothing's as exciting as mass starts!

  • @davd1986
    @davd1986 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @GAM3R3D There was person on fiscrosscountry that mentions how many medals there were in 2011 in comparison to other years/worlds and how many different countries won medals in comparison to other years. For now, I am gonna agree with that person. Again, I don't think we need to expand the sport more, in terms of developing new races and formats, I think Capol has gone far enough, IMO. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

  • @GAM3R3D
    @GAM3R3D 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @davd1986 Tradition is one thing, but they can't eat the tradition, or pay the bill. It's not about entrance fee, it's pure marketing. If there are 20000 spectator in a race, then 20000 spectator will see the advertisements, when there are just 200 spectator then only 200 will see it. If 1% of this spectator will buy anything from the advertisers then itt will be 200 from the 20000, and only 2 from 200 spectator. Do you understand?

    don't blame the Norwegians, blame out goverment, if it was up to me i would help NATO way more than we do now. I was thinking about the same thing about if Norway was in war and who would want to help us when we do so little =/

    Sweden would have intervened in 1945 unless german troops in norway didn´t surrender, an ultimatum was sent, and our soldiers have participated in numerous humanitarian UN-missions ever since, including most notably in Kongo. Don´t overstep just because of "mr Canada" (wtf!)

    During this WC the norwergians had incredible skis. But looking the the newspaper that was not a big deal. but when Norway does not have superior skis the contry goes insane. The norwegian nationality is crazy strong. Maybe a little bit too crazy. I was at Holmenkollen, and the norwegians was NOOOOT humble... I understand Breivik was born and raised in norway. The climate is 100% nationalistic
