@@walmartdog1142 Not really. You place the key pins in the plug and insert the key. If the pins aren't correct, you can tell. For the driver pins in the bible, it does require that you know where they go. But that's only the case when the driver pins aren't all the same (usually, they are).
Great tool! It seems like the springiness in the tool actually amplifies the "click", making it easier to see for viewers, and I can better visualize the amount of force you are applying to the pick compared to other videos. You might want to lock the white balance on the camera tho, colors changing wildly during pin inspection.
For someone who knows nothing about lock picking and just watches these videos for the cool factor, seeing a tool like that was really nice because I felt like I was being taught how to pick rather than just shown how someone else does it.
I think different springs shouldn't be a problem. Differing spring tension just helps resist raking/bumping. Unless you have a really really long driver pin and it requires a shorter spring so it doesn't get mangled in use.
Wow, that really made short work of a pretty tough lock. Makes sense that the distributor for it is in New York. High security locks like Mul-T-Locks and Medecos seem to be more common in NYC based on the number of locksmith shops I have seen advertising them in their windows. Presumably there is probably a demand among locksmiths to be able to pick such locks as well.

Mul-T-lock + geared rotor and a combination mechanism. Rotate left and right until the combinations are set and then open the doors. Feeling better about my paranoia.

I _really adore_ of the author of that picking tool - even I'm not ever interested in picking locks IRL - but engineering was HATS OFF! Vladimir Looks like lathe, then regular router milling, with knurling before or after milling. The milling stage includes a threading step for set screws. The blades look like stamped or milled sheet stock.
As much as the key-shaped tensioner limits the pick's use depending on what attachments you have, it definitely looks like it'd solve all but the worst shaky-hand issues by keeping the pick centered. If I worked as a locksmith instead of picking as a hobby, I'd probably love such a specific tool. I treat locks like puzzles though, and a tool that's too good can make it harder to have fun.
I really want to see a collaboration between LockPickingLawyer and Steve1989MREInfo. The tone of the voice, way of presentation, signature phrases really hit the same vibe for me. "Alright, let's get this out onto a pinning tray. Darn nice!"
I am the head locksmith at Columbia University all we use is Mul-T-Lock interactive. This pick is made useless it would seem by the addition of side pins and/or back pins to the plug. I have every intention on getting this pick to try it out. In an institution picks are basically obsolete and everything is masterkeyed with no reason to pick for lockouts.
i'm still flummoxed as to how you pick the outer pin first and then the inner pin. with a handheld pick, i would imagine lateral variation, but with this one, locked into the keyway like it is, it seems like all you have is depth and rotational variation. the rotation variation with this kind of pick could allow you to select lateral position of the tip of the pick, but it seems like it'd sweep up the inner pin (or at least risk it. anyway, nice picking. i will add that i think your prior grey metal tray was easier to focus on than this one (probably due to shininess/reflections) - your more recent videos seem to be slightly off on focus when you zoom into a closeup of the pins. when you have something up close but in your fingers, the focus is great. thanks!

There’s levels to this. There’s a guy on another lock picking channel that literally complained for 7 mins that this tool didn’t work on this lock. LPL did it in literally one min AND described pro n cons of the tool. There’s levels to this fellas be humble
That is a good showing of how good LPL is. 15 minutes is a long time to be picking a lock. I am sure that was not under pressure as if trying to get into a home where the owner is paying you to open the lock because he dropped his keys while out.
I love how locksport has become a bit of an arms race. Lock companies started making locks that make standard picking nearly impossible, so lockpickers started making specialty picks to defeat them. It's the lock companies' turn to escalate the situation again.

To be fair, he said the picker he gave the tool to not only had never tackled a mul-t-lok, but had also never attempted a dimple core either. This man had zero experience with the base version OR the upgraded version and picked it in only 15 mins, first try. That honestly IS impressive.
It was interesting seeing your lockpicking with the tool since it very clearly shows your movements (both the depth of your pick, and how you rotate it)
I own a lot of mul-t-locks and while it’s probably more than overkill for my home and padlocks for general use, one can’t help but be disappointed by its security after seeing how fast LPL can pick it.
Your intro is perfect btw. The way you hit the same notes with the same words is as good as it gets. Did a professional tell you to do it that way or is it more natural talent?
It probably comes with his profession. When your job is to persuade people, speaking clearly, unambiguously and with a cadence that makes what you say stick in the minds of listeners is probably really helpful.
would like to see the keyway more clearly. I have a dimple lock with a rectangle keyway and no warding. When you try to wrench it rests against the first pin. Soon as you set that pin the tension wrench is loose. So I am watching carefully for dimple and keyway on them.

Hey this question doesn't have to do with this video. I have recently had your channel show up on my feed and your knowledge has inspired me to get a basic kit and some practice locks. So i picked up three sparrows practice locks, a standard pin, spool pin, and serrated pins practice locks. Ok so the question i have is when im picking the spool practice im not getting any counterotation from the pins, it to the point where i have takin all the tension off core and still nothing. Why do you think this is happening.

Harry, why don't you make your own tool like you and Bill did with the disc detainer pick? Then you could do something about the rails on the pick. As well as shorten the length.
Small movements of the pick with very precise placement. Essentially he centers the pick on the pin to hit the inner pin, rests it on the edge of the pin to hit the outer pin.
@@roysammons2445 You'll notice when he's doing the outer pins, he's not on the markings, but offset a bit. He's right on the markings when doing the inner pins.
Would I be right in saying the Lockwood MT5+ profile the VPIL uses (843 - Oakleigh factory exclusive) is one of the instances where you'd need that additional key guide? 🤔
So frustrated with my E11, been trying for 12+ years to pick it, never set one pin. I jte to think how many hours, all different picks, Multipicks, Goso, homebrew, nothing changes the dead response. Everything springy, apart from maybe pin 1 occassionally disappearing beyond the keyway ceiling, but there’s zero give in the core, as with other Mul T lock interactive euros or ovals. I’ve picked an E14 and a C8, both held out for a long time, but one day, 5 binder, with successive clicks and core give, then clunk, deep falsey and tickle of one or two inner pins and open. Any ideas before i dissolve it in acid, would be welcome.😭😭😭😭🤷♂️😆♥️♥️♥️
*I know it goes against everything most have ever been taught But deliberately doing a poor job of installing a deadbolt lock set so that it takes two hands to get in. One hand to turn the key and the other hand to lift or push or pull on the knob/door to eliminate the side load on the bolt. Since most lock picks are thin and rather easy to bend and can not be used to strong arm a bolt open such as a key would. and Adding dificulty since the lock picker is not familiar with the intricacy of the installation* *In other words , you don't want that dead bolt to be butter smooth. You want just a little bit of a wrestling match xD*
Blocked User the core will turn/pick before it retracts the bolt meaning you can pick he lock then remove the tool and use a flat screwdriver. Have done that a few times =]
GxAxV I see what you mean and you are right , once the core breaks free and starts to turn you slip in the screwdriver and play with the physics of the installation. I think it still adds a level of difficulty that makes it a little more involved and physical than just the pick. You need to keep tension on that screwdriver and not slip off while trying to figure out how to unload the tension on the bolt. Not as easy as some might think but it really is probably more common to see a sketch installation than a butter smooth one out on the street. Thanks for pointing that out.
How does this tool move inner and outer pins separately? It looks like the tool is turned anticlockwise for the outer pins and clockwise for the inners, but if that's the case I'm very surprised it wasn't mentioned. In a similar line, since there's only one loose spring in the bible behind each pair of concentric driver pins, is there a second spring acting between each of the outer and inner driver pins to preload both inner and outer pins against the key?
When you want a hard Pick, try locks used in European special Germany like the ikon cliq System. Also the default Locks here in Germany are Hard as hell and the Keyway is also small and hard shaped.

Hey this question doesn't have to do with this video. I have recently had your channel show up on my feed and your knowledge has inspired me to get a basic kit and some practice locks. So i picked up three sparrows practice locks, a standard pin, spool pin, and serrated pins practice locks. Ok so the question i have is when im picking the spool practice im not getting any counterotation from the pins, it to the point where i have takin all the tension off core and still nothing. Why do you think this is happening.
I just got my first lock pick set yesterday because of your channel and I was wondering are you using the pick as a lever to lift the pins up, or are you rotating the pick to lift the pins up?

Harry, why don't you make your own tool like you and Bill did with the disc detainer pick? Then you could do something about the rails on the pick. As well as shorten the length.
I didn't understand how you made it manipulate outer and inner pins. Otherwise very impressive.
Small movements of the pick with very precise placement. Essentially he centers the pick on the pin to hit the inner pin, rests it on the edge of the pin to hit the outer pin.

I had the exact same thought. There is only one marking for each of the pins so how to judge under and outer pins 🤔

@@roysammons2445 You'll notice when he's doing the outer pins, he's not on the markings, but offset a bit. He's right on the markings when doing the inner pins.
Would I be right in saying the Lockwood MT5+ profile the VPIL uses (843 - Oakleigh factory exclusive) is one of the instances where you'd need that additional key guide? 🤔
So frustrated with my E11, been trying for 12+ years to pick it, never set one pin. I jte to think how many hours, all different picks, Multipicks, Goso, homebrew, nothing changes the dead response. Everything springy, apart from maybe pin 1 occassionally disappearing beyond the keyway ceiling, but there’s zero give in the core, as with other Mul T lock interactive euros or ovals. I’ve picked an E14 and a C8, both held out for a long time, but one day, 5 binder, with successive clicks and core give, then clunk, deep falsey and tickle of one or two inner pins and open. Any ideas before i dissolve it in acid, would be welcome.😭😭😭😭🤷♂️😆♥️♥️♥️
*I know it goes against everything most have ever been taught But deliberately doing a poor job of installing a deadbolt lock set so that it takes two hands to get in. One hand to turn the key and the other hand to lift or push or pull on the knob/door to eliminate the side load on the bolt. Since most lock picks are thin and rather easy to bend and can not be used to strong arm a bolt open such as a key would. and Adding dificulty since the lock picker is not familiar with the intricacy of the installation*
*In other words , you don't want that dead bolt to be butter smooth. You want just a little bit of a wrestling match xD*
Blocked User the core will turn/pick before it retracts the bolt meaning you can pick he lock then remove the tool and use a flat screwdriver. Have done that a few times =]
GxAxV I see what you mean and you are right , once the core breaks free and starts to turn you slip in the screwdriver and play with the physics of the installation. I think it still adds a level of difficulty that makes it a little more involved and physical than just the pick. You need to keep tension on that screwdriver and not slip off while trying to figure out how to unload the tension on the bolt. Not as easy as some might think but it really is probably more common to see a sketch installation than a butter smooth one out on the street. Thanks for pointing that out.
How does this tool move inner and outer pins separately? It looks like the tool is turned anticlockwise for the outer pins and clockwise for the inners, but if that's the case I'm very surprised it wasn't mentioned. In a similar line, since there's only one loose spring in the bible behind each pair of concentric driver pins, is there a second spring acting between each of the outer and inner driver pins to preload both inner and outer pins against the key?
Did not see that pick tip until the end, was confused as to how it was getting those inner pins.
A whole minute, using a specific tool, that counts as high security on the LPL scale surely.
He didn't show how fast it would be without the tool though
He did say that it took someone less experienced with such locks 15 minutes to pick it with this tool. So a burglar without it might take lot longer
Michał Pietrzyk a burglar would not be able to pick a multi lock to be honest, they require a lot of skill
Can you show how the multi key ones of those work? Heavily confused I am.

When you want a hard Pick, try locks used in European special Germany like the ikon cliq System. Also the default Locks here in Germany are Hard as hell and the Keyway is also small and hard shaped.

Can you use this device more so in your video? Its more satisfying to watch as you can really see and almost feel the pins clicking into place.
