      i was getting the foreshadow from the cut scenes, of that place isn't what it really looks like.
      But then see that thing been a frigging space elevator all this time was truly a surprise where the game drop the fantasy pretense and goes into sci-fi territory befitting the Xenosaga.

    Morytha and the World Tree is where the fantasy starts bleeding away and the awesome weirdness that is Xeno comes out in full force.

      It kinda ripped me out of the world and story though and it just made me feel weird and out of place. In the end in hindsight it worked well, but while playing, at the time I didn't really like it.

      Tom Hew i liked it. It almost felt like this entire journey was just an experiment, in a controlled area or something. Obviously it wasnt, but it has the same feel, the fantasy elements outside of the world tree, and the more sci fi elements inside of it that arnt an impossibility in our own world.

      @@Tom-101 Did you play Xenoblade 1 (then it would make more sense to you probably). Every Xenoblade has that change that destroys expectations, it's kinda a brand image by now. i love the connection between real world/sci fi and fantasy.

      It's fitting. It's the first song you hear when booting up the game, and now it's remix is in the last major area. After that Elysium in the dream is shattered, and the main theme comes back in a slow ambient albeit creepy track.

      I was the exact opposite. I was overleveled until the very end and I think I only used an inn for bonus experience maybe once or twice near the beginning of the game XD

      Fantasy crossed with the mech genre. The near break out of war between mor ardain and Uraya starts to bleed that more science-y sci-fi that comes back much later on, with Roderic questioning Judiciam's true intentions on coming up with and creating the flesh eaters. I do like that his thoughts on it ended up being part of the greater truth and was unknowingly right.

      you can see the elevator going to the bean stock from Temperanchia. If you go back to it and walk away from the titan you fight Jin on, and head to where the world tree is you can see it.

    When I hear this theme, all I can think of is just how surreal it was entering the World Tree for the first time. You've been staring at it in the distance all game, thinking it's an actual tree. Then you get inside and turns out it's a mechanized tower. It feels like a whole other world in there and that is exactly what this theme captures.

      Just finished this game for the first time a few days ago. As a person who hasn’t played the first Xenoblade I was caught completely off guard. And then once you start putting two and two together that there’s a modern looking city under the cloud sea and that the world tree is man made it becomes pretty obvious that the architect is just a regular dude.

    The final hours of this game were so shockingly surreal, I don’t think I’m going to ever forget what it was like to enter the World Tree for the first time. I was in utter disbelief to see what it REALLY was, and this theme really helped push that otherworldly feeling. Not to mention the even greater shock of finding Elysium in ruin at the top… I love this game so much.

    I love how the space station was actually teased at in the promotional art from the beginning. If you look at the wallpaper version of the image that this video uses, you can actually see the tower continues past the canopy of the World Tree. I noticed this before the game came out and I was like :0

      @@tdark987 it's the same part of the story thematically. Elysium is agneratha. Mechonis is the world tree of xbc1. Bionis is the peak of Elysium in its prime, up until the disaster happens.
      It'd be an interesting idea that the reason there are so many machines and mechs is because some people became them.

    In the first chapter, in the cutscene with Rex and Nia at the ship, Nia ponders if the World Tree is just an overgrown shrub.
    I love the fact she's partially right. The thing we see for most of the game IS just an overgrown shrub XD

    This music and the backdrop of Mikhail's mecha fight is the most memorable for me in the whole game.

    In Xenoblade 1, I fell in love with the game all over again when I got to Mechonis Field. The sci-fi dystopia of Morytha's urban areas and the World Tree had the exact same effect on me for this game.

      Yes and no. In Xeno 1 i was expecting to see a mechanicam sci fi world inside Mechonis and It was awesome... In xeno 2 i already watched my brother reached the world tree and i see It like for 5 mins AND still i was impressed by my own playtrough

    I'll never forget the impact this section of the game had on me, I had no clue of Xenoblade 1's story so Malo's Monado and Morytha was such a shock to me. And then finally making it to the world tree, only to find a series of sci-fi systems in this fun JRPG was so surreal.

      I agree Norse mythology is way too prevent everywhere. Which just makes the twist that it's an elevator and it's real name being beanstalk better.

      funnily enough the Norse mythology is only really present in the Localization of the game! The Aegis is called the Heavenly Holy Grail and pushes a more christian theming but that's a bout it. The world tree has more Norse symbolism especially with the area names and the other beanstalks referenced in outside material. Personally i like it a bit more since it connects everything a bit more and would make sense that these scientists would reference Norse mythology because humanities hubris and whatever

    This was the peak of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for me. The reveal, the buildup, the amazing, ominous theme with the guitar and the Elysium church bell sound in the background as the cherry on top. Definitely vibin' hard right about now

    While playing this game I was really looking for that Agniratha moment ya know? That moment when you enter the place and are just completely shocked with what’s actually there and ends up bringing more questions than answers.
    This is that place and I loved it.

    I'm still in awe at the final hours of this game. I just love twist that redefine your whole understanding of it's world and Xenoblade is one of my favorite example of that.

    I absolutely LOVE this song! It's so awesome how it starts off with the choir like you'd expect for the World Tree, but then kicks in an amazing electric guitar version of the main theme, and you realize this is completely different from what you expected it to be like the entire game, just like the World Tree itself.

    I'm a music student and big lover of videogame music, and it's themes like these that makes the genre so fascinating and unique.
    This just perfectly captures the feeling of being close to your destination, of being in the last steps of your grand adventure, but at the same time, everything is not what you were expecting and mystery surrounds, like how the party never though the World Tree would look very artificial and human-made inside. All of this, combined with the motive of the main theme, truly makes its job, and it's why this kind of music is very magical and unique in its own way.
    Music and feelings like these can only be found in videogames; they opened up a new perspective for music and art in general.

    God when I finally made it to the world tree it no longer felt like I was playing the fantasy RPG I'd been playing for the past 70 hours, but instead, it felt more like I was playing something like Halo thanks in part to this amazing music.

    I had no idea what to expect of / on top of the World Tree. When I started the game, I didn't know that technology would play an important role and didn’t question the existence of blades. I was absolutely blown away by how it all unfolded and sat with my mouth open when chapter 10 began. I don't think any game has ever surprised me that much.

    Best final stage level in Xenoblade.
    Has every single element of what makes a god-tier OST. Choir + Gorgeous melodic electric guitar + The somber and atmospheric strings.
    It's like a reminiscence of the 20th anniversary version of "Bares Fangs at God".

    The World Tree reminds me, in appearence, a lot of Mechonis Field, both feel out of place in this fantasy setting we got up to this point, and i love it

    I am getting heavy Tower of Salvation vibes from this. Both in theme and design. The cross of fantasy into Sci-fi, the ethereal sense of a man made majestic presence combined with those sweet guitar rifts and techno sounds makes for such a moving theme.

    Then you realize that all of the climbing was done by riding elevators...

    Tfw you get to Morytha and the World Tree and the game suddenly remembers that it's a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles 1.
    No but seriously, this part of the game really felt like I was making my way through the ruined world of Mechonis again. The different direction this game took is great and all, but having that XC1-esque vibe wash over me again was absolutely wonderful.

      @Xenomaniac I've never played Xenosaga. In my mind Xenoblade Chronicles is not the same series as Xenosaga. Xenoblade Chronicles 1 was the standard that was set for the series and 2 strayed from it.

    I always dig music like this for final areas in an RPG, it's so solemn, especially with the guitar. Makes you think about all you've been through, all you've come to learn, and the melancholy of realizing the journey is coming to an end.

    This and the Cliffs of Morytha are my favourite dungeon themes in this game..
    Somehow they remind me A LOT of Mechonis Field theme from XC1 and seeing thats my favourite dungeon theme from that game thats not a bad thing..
    But lets be honest:
    The complete soundtrack for both games are simply legendary.

    I don't know how to put into words what I felt traveling in the world tree for my first time. It is such an awesome feeling in so many ways, your beliefs of what it is were completely shifted upon entering the place, the song is amazing and probably my personal favorite of the whole OST, everything you see makes sense in the world that you are in and my GOD the titan battle looks great. There's so much to say about just this one area alone, it has become one of the best moments when it comes to gaming in general for me and I don't know if I would have wanted it any other way.

    This theme seriously captures the feeling of exploring the unknown. The promised land said to end the strive for land and resources. Pneuma's and Malos' birthplace. Elysium. Everything is mysterious and dangerous. The deeper you go, the more questions you have.
    1:18 And then the drums kick in. And you know that the only way to find the answer is to keep going.

    When you're just trying to explore the area then 3 gundams and 1 unique enemy gundam starts running after you. (For those curious were to find 4 of these in one place, go to the landmark Lv. 3 Alioth on Mid Level. Enjoy running away if you’re underleveled)

    i love the blend of synths and instruments in this track
    leaving the surreal feeling that the world tree indeed is just a mechanical tower i was so immersed when i got to this part
    i was in awe and couldnt believe what reality was
    the land we been roaming above the sea if clouds... while elysium was just a mechanical oasis of the land of morytha what earth used to be

    The whole game, i was just eager to get to the world tree and see elysium for myself, hoping that it would be lush paradise.
    When i got there, to the world tree, i thought, no this can't be it.
    And then i finally got to elysium...
    I think that scene with Rex's doubts resonate with me more than it normally would.
    I spent dozens upon dozens of hours on this quest and for what? For nothing?
    The ties to XC1 made it all worth it! The OST in this act of the game is wonderful too.
