Barrios was an incredible guitarist/composer massively underrated in his lifetime. Segovia got all the credit, Barrios should have toured more in Europe and I'm sure he would have been more famous. IMHO
Tony Smith If I'm not mistaken, Segovia respected Barrios. He said and I quote "didn't like his folk elements in his compositions." He most likely would've played his works if he got his hands on them.
kgunitkeese17 my guitar teacher one told me Segovia was envious towards Barrios, as he had success while not following the same philosophy as Segovia himself, who is said to have banned Barrio's pieces at his school
So many great players! And not to mention the Guitars! This is such a great resource. Makes me wish I was still playing. Parkinson's Disease had other plans for me. I am grateful that I am over the anger (well most of it, and most of the time!) and can be touched on this level by these great players, playing these great instruments, by some of the best composers. Thanks for your wonderful contribution to our lives!
I'm so sorry to hear this. I guess you can still enjoy music which is a great part, and the reason we are all here for this performance. I wish you and your family the best.
That's sad. My teacher was one of the greats and had a stroke and lost his left hand dexterity. He started playing base because he could still move his left arm well enough and music was his everything.
Sorry to hear that man. Good that you are still able to enjoy all that fantastic music that is out there. Although I am a guitarist myself, I am also just here as a listener.
@@antoncigur3727 i understand. I had a neck injury that damaged my spinal cord. I can still type but slowly. Fast movements arent there. It does take time to get used to.
I remember mastering this piece. Extremely difficult, many position shifts, many hours of practice...I always felt I never actually played it perfectly, always thought I needed to practice it more. Very well played here sir.
irmasil3 i'm at it. I've practiced it so much that i don't know too if i'm playing it as it should be. I don't see nowhere near the day I say i've mastered it. cheers
+Andrew Bradford I have not practiced classical for more than 5 years. I mainly play flamenco now every now and then. I am more focused on electric the last 10 years. I was practicing this piece almost 10-12 years ago. Although I still remember parts of it I am far from playing it decently now. This was my show off piece for my classical guitar diploma. I do not understand what makes you skeptical. Yes you should "master" a piece when its your show off piece for the most important examination in your classical practice. As you master all the rest for the exams as well.
irmasil3 I remember flying to mars and meeting aliens. Must have been 10-12 years ago now. But who cares, we’re here to celebrate another master musician not wax our own ego’s
Outstanding guitarist - Federico Sheppard Morant - playing a superb, beautiful, exquisite instrument. Bravo, Maestro! Thank you Guitar Salon Internation!
Excellent melody of Barrios and played brilliantly especially the 3rd movement. What a technic. What a clarity of notes. What a nuance, Bravo. Thanks for uploading..
Que Dios te tenga en su gloria Señor Barrios. Naciste en tu querido Paraguay y el resto del mundo te ama y admira. Lo que no conseguiste en vida lo tenés ahora. Sos grande Barrios.
It is a thrill to listen to this perfect rendition of a fantastic Barrios Mangore piece, on an exquisite guitar that has a powerful and sweet voice. Congratulations maestro Espinas!
I love how this piece was incorporated into the song " Bodhisattva Cathedral " for the Original version of the anime 'Hellsing'. Such a beautiful song, glad I could hear the original composition 💗
terrific audio quality. It sounds like a superb guitar, and a top-notch artist. This is the piece I would most look forward to playing if I were to learn classical guitar.
Bravo Manuel, beautiful, I used to think that Berta Rojas's version was the definitive but this is truly amazing to hear your version as well. Both versions are different but perfect in their own rights :)
Everytime i hear this i just get sad, when i was 17 i almost learned the whole piece but then i started studying and i never fully finished it, now ive gotten worse and started to play the piano more, i just wish I'd be able to play this
I love how he sits there all chill and unflinching yet still puts so much passion and precision into it.
Impenetrable focus. So impressive.
0:04 - Preludio "Saudade"
2:40 - Andante Religioso
4:53 - Allegro Solemne
¡Gracias amigo!

Y es inmenso a pesar del tal Segovia.

I thought the ana vidovic performance was the best I'd heard but this was truly mind blowing-bravo!
Beautiful and daunting. How he plays the Allegro at his speed is, well, beyond amazing.
