The series was produced by Sequence, a Vancouver- based animation studio, in association with 343 Industries. @@stephenbyrne2170 It's not meant to be taken literally. Marking Humanity's greatest defenders as KIA would exponentionally lower morale, so they just report that they are MIA instead. It's ONI's way of information manipulation. This is helped by the fact that usually if Spartans start dying, not many humans survive to tell the tale either.
Pretty much everyone knows most of the Spartans that are missing are actually dead, just noone says it out loud.

I'll always love how Jen Taylor puts on an entirely different voice for Halsey than she does for Cortana. You can still tell it's her, but it's just different enough to give a mother/daughter type of voice difference between Halsey and Cortana.

@@ryanparker4996 Technically the weapon was built upon the frameworks of Cortana, but ISN'T Cortana at all. She possesses a completely different personality and aura, as well as a new origin.

But still similar enough for her to figure it out by comparing herself. Which literally happens in a cutscene.

I love how the movie explores not just how Chief became a Spartan, but also the brutality of ONI and how far they were willing to go to achieve their goals.
That is how Bungie wrote ONI, they are basically worse then the FBI and CIA are assumed to be.
I’ve always considered ONI to be one of the bad guys in Halo although they created the greatest hero in Halo they also got hundreds of children killed

Fire King; congratulations for knowing nothing about Halo. allow me to read to you the members of Blue Team, who were the Elite of Spartan II (though they didn't always work together): John-117 (MC), Kelly-087 (fastest Spartan FACT including men and women)), Linda-058 (marksmen, technically died on Reach but was revived), Fred-104 (one of the strongest, very balanced), Sam-034 (MC's best friend), Kurt-051 (mentored the Spartan III, before John learned to be a leader he was actually BETTER than John). Sam and Kurt are the only ones to have died. oh and there is Naomi-010 as well...but she does UNSC black Ops...so she doesn't interact with other spartan II at all really.

The OG halo had such an incredible and dark story, The animation is definitely not my flavor but still watchable cause of the awesome story.
More often than not, a good story is all that matters.
As an animator myself, this form of animation is rarely used because
1. It takes so much longer to paint all the scenes.
2. Everything looks so stiff and flat.
I would rather have a shitty animation then none.

i remember reading on the wiki a story about how john found a marine who had been wounded in battle, not badly but enough to take him out of the fight for a time, and john stopped what he was doing to expertly treat the wound and make sure that he was ok. i wonder if john carries the guilt of killing those 3 odst with him and has sworn in his mind to do whatever he can to protect the lives of the soldiers around him.
Maybe that's why he was probably holding back so much when he fought Locke. It only makes sense that he should have destroyed all four of them, but he didn't want to harm fellow soldiers again.

Have you seen what he does to them during gameplay?
The deaths of the ODSTs and his fellow spartans have haunted him. All the soldiers deaths he couldn't prevent.
After Sam's death he had a hard time trusting his team and would put himself in harms way so that they didn't need to.
In time he learned how to trust his time fully and trust the soldiers under his command. He doesn't want to waste lives or resources where its not needed but it does not stop him from going above and beyond what he needs to save those lives.
@Alex Luca This really makes me feel bad for John. While it might not have been his fault, John no doubt carries on the souls of all those he thinks he failed to save.

@@ct2731 I kinda agree, but not the one we got and I would rather have them created a show where they focused more on Spartan 2's smaller missions and at the end ultimately connecting with the games. Besides Anime and the novel usually just same and other adaptation. We want to see our favorite chracters in tv screen. Besides LOTR, DUNE, and Edge of Tomorrow did it really well. Edge of tomorrow then didn't even follow the manga directly. Hell even Ghost in the Shell did it better than the show. Don'r even get me started in Alita. So yeah it aint boring and nobody want a shitty drama driven emotional spartan. They aee suppose to be a master of their emotion and self control. They created to be better than humans. Disciplined, loyal and they cared for humanity and each other. In the tv show they were ready to kill off their own comrade. Which I believe Spartan would never do.
the most stupid thing is that Kiki Wolfkill had the opportunity to bring the OG Halo story, with all the books and games involved, even Bungie's Halo 4, which 343i changed.

This movie is the proof that a well written story can deliver something great even if the visuals aren't that great. Enjoyed it quite a lot.

I think it would’ve been cool if Chief did take off his helmet in tribute to Sam (since Sam had his helmet off in his final stand) but it’s depicted similarly to how he did at the end of Halo CE with the camera not on him. Like he takes off his helmet for one final salute after reminiscing with Blue team.

@Money Badger I know, it's unnecessary for them to make the changes they do. It's one thing to update a character or item for the sake of detail, it's another when the design is fundamentally changed. Many of the designs for Infinite are being leaked through the toy lines, so far so good lol

This was amazingly done, highly underrated. Perfect way to cover the book in a much shorter period of time.
I know the focus was on the Master Chief but I wish they also mention Kurt and Jerome, specially Jerome since he play a big role in Halo wars 2 and it looks like it may be introduced in Halo infinite.
Also Covenant art style should had stick to the original. Other than that it’s a great production.

Noble Six I know the halo lore, one of the arbiters found the lecgolo (hunters) and began to tame them. They had found them on a moon and a halo ring, they had these before reach

This barley scratched the surface of how good the actual book is. So much was left out. Prob the most important Dr. Halsey introducing the Chief & Cortana. The field test wt Cortana & Cheif in the new Mjolnir armor wt shield capabilities. The book is really good.
Had to be. It’s expensive to create a movie, animated or not, so it had to be in less detail than the original book.

What a well written movie. As just a movie everything was so well developed, no dramatic pause crap.
Its based on a book. A book which released a month before the first game.
This movie isn’t well animated because this wasn’t made by one animator. This was made by 343, a whole company which means they should have made this a lot better than it actually is. It looks like a small indie movie and not a movie by a triple A company.

Alr i saw this movie before looking up Halopedia. I saw George getting stunned at the scene 11:21 and I thought it was Jorge from Noble team, but then I didn't believe it due to that there wasn't a reference from Jorge on Halo Reach. and a while later I come by Halopedia, and I started going through the characters and I got to Jorge, after reading that Jorge was telling his CO that is the wrong way for saying his name, he got stunned, I then remember this movie with my mouth dropped. Cool to see that Jorge was so close to John-117
I’ve seen a lot of people say that it isn’t him but it actually is this was their way of showing that he trained alongside the chief there were some deleted scenes from halo reach itself from the game that had Jeorge talking to some of Noble team about his training and mentioning the chief even at the age he was was a better Spartan then others

I remember reading the Reach book, was quite fascinating seeing how they trained the spartans.
Very good adaptation. Could see they had some budget constraints in some places. Just wish I could've seen the actual fall of reach and spartan II's fighting on reach. Overall a terrific watch.

I hope so but they really need to keep to the actual books and use better more edgy animation. This movie while awesome veers away from the actual source material in so many ways from the dialogue to the timeline. If they actually stayed true to it it would be even better. Especially the ending when they had to leave Sam behind at the end. It it much sadder in the novel.

That first chord from the piano at the beginning of the credits after The Master Chief's last line makes me so happy. It makes me think about being younger and playing this amazing game. But honestly as much nostalgia it makes me feel, it really makes me so thankful I got to play it, more happy than sad.

I think this movie is amazing and I love the Halo franchise but unfortunately for me I'm not the most physically fit person and have been operated on several times. A few years ago I picked this up on a discount shelf and being completely serious, the augmentation scene jump started my PTSD issues. Did your jobs a little too well on that one 343.

@Danny Carvajal I have PTSD from when I was 5 and I had an operation called a dorsal rhizotomy. They want into my spine, tested my nerve endings with electricity and cut out the ones that warn't working properly.

I played the video game waaay back when. I'm just now getting into the books. I'm discovering this whole world (and the fans who go along with it). I'm about 3/4 into the book, and so glad I saw this.

Steve Downes was always a talented voice actor, but holy shit, the level in which he's grown over the years, especially starting in Halo 4 and then just the couple scenes he's in this movie, you can hear such emotion to his words. You don't hear his words, you feel them.

All those coffins were empty as well. They preserved the washouts in the hope that they could be rehabilitated. Jerome’s Red Team and Black Team were some of those washouts.

It's essentially the book Fall of Reach minus the last chapters that detail...the Fall of Reach.
Major cockblock since many would've liked to have seen the original Fall (Not Noble Team) in animation and visuals.
It was in the actual book. So much in this was left out. Dr. Halsey introducing Cortana & the Chief along wt their first field test together wt a new Mjolnir suit wt shield capabilities. The book has so much more than this hr could show.

I just realised that when they were all waking up the marine says get up Jorge and then he says “My names pronounced Jorge” In halo reach Jorge was a Spartan II and I think he trained with chief. Nice little detail there

i don't know how many people realise this...but teaching Spartan II about wolves was actually a huge mistake...it was also something Spartan III and IV were never taught...it is unique to the Spartan II. Unlike 3 and 4...Spartan II will obey orders...until they see a reason not to...then they will adapt to survive...like a pack of wolves...which is exactly what began to happen in Halo 5...
IMO the best question/ point of this film "which was this sir...spent or wasted" because that rings true throughout the Halo series

Still amazing half a decade on, but my only gripe is that the story is called "The Fall of Reach" but has very little to do with Reach's actual fall
The animation is based off the book of the same name, which has a lot more to do with reach than this animation. I think they cut out the “fall of reach” part of the animation because the book was heavily retconned by halo reach.

Someone needs to make a few films based around Halo/Master Chief and his journey through the ranks. It would be a series of amazing films. Especially if someone like Spielberg directed it or someone of that calibre.
The funny thing is, in the lore he literally jumped from Petty Officer (where he is at the end of this movie) to Master Chief Petty Officer (six whole ranks!) because his CO wanted to put him in charge of a marine unit for a certain battle and didn’t want anyone else countermanding his orders. It was just an impromptu decision that ended up creating a legend.
