I checked out 4 units of S15 GX502LWS, but all of them had stuck pixels in the display. Have you noticed this issue on your laptop as well? My 2 brand new laptops are at ASUS Service centre, getting display replacements :(
Hi, may I know where can I buy GX502-LWS which is with the RTX2070super in Malaysia? I couldn't find it on shopee and it is stated that "coming soon" on ASUS official website. Is the GX502-LWS priced at RM10999?
Just confirm pre-order for the GX502LWS. The website is already updated with pricing of RM10,499.00. I think its more worthwhile to get this version with rtx2070 super 115W. the rtx2080 super Max-Q is just way too expensive.
@@gamersanditparadise i didn't. i have to cancel the order. My initial order of Lenovo legion 7i which the shipment went MIA (UPS "lost the shipment") was located and delivered to me out of the blue and my application for refund was rejected by lenovo malaysia due to this. Took UPS 1.5 months to locate the entire shipment of laptops. Surprisingly the laptop is ok and now i am using the 7i. No regret not buying the asus because the display on 7i is really nice and i do not have to upgrade anything.
@@nitric75 Oh. I heard that the thermals on the 7i are dodgy (some are good and some are bad), due to bad QC, and Dave 2D and Jarrod noted this. How is your experience?
@@gamersanditparadise i did run some stress tests (AIDA64 extreme & 3Dmark Time Spy 20Loops). For AIDA after 30 minutes, CPU hit about 93.x, clocked speed about 3.1-3.2GHz. 3DMark time spy 20loops, CPU is quite consistent all the way at about 44xx Mhz, gpu at 1350 Mhz, CPU temp at 6x-7x C most of the time with occasionally spikes, GPU at 7x C all the way. I don't know this is good or bad since i hardly run stress tests on any of my machine. What i know is after running test, the laptop is just warm, fan noise at performance mode is still pretty acceptable, not so loud, just noise of air being push out from the laptop. keyboard area is just warm. Only 1 small issue with the touchpad where there is a gap. Lenovo Malaysia is sending their onsite technician to replace the part(s). Lenovo gave me 3 choices, replace part(s) under warranty, replace with another new unit or refund. I do not want to go thru' another waiting game for new unit. They are asking the technician to inspect the entire laptop to make sure everything is ok or just replace anything that's not up to standard. i am also waiting for the 5% refund as compensation due to the MIA shipment. so all and all, i am receiving 15% discount. Jarrod & Dave probably got the "not so good" unit. I am happy with mine. I have the i7-10875H, 32GB, rtx 2070 super MQ, 1TB x 2 ssd, 144Hz 500nit HDR 100% AdobeRGB panel & 3 yrs onsite warranty. Its slim enough to fit into my black ember citadel R2 backpack.
How is the thermal performance? Also doesn't the LWS model out perform this? I think the 2070Super 115W is more powerful than the 2080Super max q. Why is liquid metal bad? Should I repaste with grizzly kryonaut? I am worried now lol. Was really hoping to get the gx502LWS model
The thermal performance is good because the use of liquid metal. The 2080 super Max-Q is slightly better than 2070 super. But if you factor in the price, paying that extra for that little improvement isn't worth it. No, you should not attempt to repaste it. As I mentioned, it could get messy and damage the CPU / motherboard, and losing the warranty. That's why I say it is a worrisome issue because future service has to be handled by those who know how to deal with liquid metal.
@@TechCritter Thanks for the reply! How does the RTX 2070 super in this compare in performance to the rtx 2070 super max q in the lenovo 7i? Are you going to do a review for that? The card in that is a 2070 super max q but it's 90W and has advanced optimus so curious to see how it compares to the full 2070 super 115w. Both have gsync so it should make a fair comparison. This was a good review man. In games like watch dogs 2 and AC odyssey which stress the gpu and the cpu does the cpu stay below 90C ? Also, if I buy this do we need to change the liquid metal after a year because some places I heard that it corrodes the heat pipes and loses it's efficacy but other places said it doesn't make a difference. Really appreciate the review and the reply. Edit - and finally would you recommend this vs the lenovo 7i? The 2070 super version I mean. Longevity vs performance balance is so important in costly products like these that I am getting confused.
I don't think I will have the opportunity to test the 2070 SUPER variant. As for the liquid metal maintenance, corrosion shouldn't be an issue because they already made sure the contact point is well secured. As for the legion 7i, I can't comment on that yet cause they only sent in legion 5 AMD for testing.
@@TechCritter Thanks for the reply again man. I guess if the corrosion has been dealt with then the S15 is a good buy despite the heat. Most laptops heat up these days anyway. Hope it sticks up in the long run and doesn't wear itself down.
@@TechCritter interesting, I saw different videos where the 2070 Super (not max q) is slightly better than the 2080 super max q. But maybe it's because the 2080 super max q comes in different versions like 80W, 85W or 90W. I had the Triton 500 with the 2080 super max q and was a bit disappointed with the performance. I may go for the 2070 super (same price) and buy the GE66 or the Zephryus S with the 2070 super
