I don't think people understand why Dyrus is so broken over it. QT and Dom joke around about it but there definitely is some truth to their words. Dyrus potentially ruined their future careers. I think that's the biggest reason he's sad. He doesn't care as much that NA didn't do well but that he could have spoiled his friends' futures.

In season 2 Dyrus accidentally leaked team Dignitas' key strategy that he had learned while scrimming against him. The strategy that they used was never revealed outside of scrims, and was extremely successful for the team, to the point where before worlds they admitted how confident they were and they believed they were a strong contender to win worlds. After that Dyrus accidentally leaked the strategy to a friend, and then word got around to the rest of the teams. By the time Team Dignitas went into the group stage, everybody knew about the strategy, and how to play around it. Dignitas ended up getting stomped in the group stage.

Dyrus, I joined league several months ago. I knew nothing about anything related to the game at all. I checked out youtube for some players that were that combo of really good plus fun to watch. Four of the five I found and liked were Qt, scarra, dom, and you. You were of course my third favorite. Kappa Up until now, I thought you guys were real chums and loved playing together because of your past in LCS together, even on separate teams. This video and the background I read up on did absolutely nothing to change that opinion. I still see you guys as good friends, and I think they see it the same way. Especially qt, that's so like him to just ask for some taco bell. I hope you know these guys realized exactly what happened. They know it was an accident and you never meant anything harmful to those guys, so they think nothing less of you and neither do I. Besides, you were just a kid, a poor 17 year old who didn't eat enough pasta. :^)
I find it hilarious that 3 of your top five are Qt, Scarra, and Dom. Three players from Dig all doing fairly well today, and they get their money from streaming/TH-cam/other stuff. They might have won worlds, but they certainly didn't need to.

Dyrus, I have an inkling that you are going to try call out Thooorin on occasionally talking smack about you, and maybe making some comments about how its the basis of SI like Reginald did a while back. I think in the past Thorin has heralded your playstyle as innovative and a key reason to TSM's success in NA, and he has always commended your durable legacy of domestic dominance and adaptability. Try not to let the banter get to you to hard, because he dishes it out for a lot of players he still respects, and your performance vs Korean tops is something he uses to draw comparisons and talk a bit of banter shit, I think its better to react how most others do and take it on the chin, but I can't exactly know how you feel about that and you are perfectly entitled to act how you want, its just something to consider. I think Thorin is fairly unbiased when he makes these comments about you, because he has definitely highlighted the good of your career while also taking jabs at the bad, which is how everyones career kind of goes except you have at least gotten some praise. I'm probably coming off as a Thorin stan, but i'm mainly a Dyrus fan who wants to try help give some perspective.

I did watch your games, but it wasn't until some time after that I heard what happened. to this day I still don't think any less of you for what you did, I know you feel like shit about the whole situation. You were basically a teenager at the time, arriving at a whole new life with a whole new set of responsibilities that you obviously weren't accustomed to. I'm not saying that it wasn't your fault, but it was definitely a small mistake on your part that that was blown out of proportion because of the circumstances. I don't think you should care too much about the "backstab meme" since you didn't backstab them, you simply tripped and fell. In the same situation, I would've probably done the same, but I would have completely caved under the weight of what happened afterward, and left the game entirely. You had the strength to stand where I would have crumbled, and I respect that. That's why you get to play videogames for a living, you magnificent scallywag.

Basically, before events, teams have scrims where they test out their strats vs other lcs calibre teams. It's sort of a rule that teams aren't allowed to discuss anything they've learnt from scrims other than in their own team, and Dyrus screwed over Dignitas by revealing one of their main strategies. So he 'backstabbed Qtiepie' (only one member of Dig, mind), who all took it quite well, but Dyrus still beats himself up pretty hard about it, because he feels like he wasn't punished enough
lmfao dignitas was my fav team but they were stupid to rely on one tact and when it got countered they lost every thing you should have two tacts one to ensure the win and one to counter the enemy counter tact
so, what happened, was, during scrims vs Dig, they finally figured out the strat that Dig was using at the time. then, at worlds, before the tournament started, he was in the player lounge with all the other teams and players, and when people were talking about Dig as a team, Dyrus blurted, outloud, Digs strat. so all the other teams knew about it, so they countered it right from the start. so it FUCKED dig because that was the strat that they had been practicing and getting better at. And the mental stress he underwent after realizing what he did, tilted him and his team for that tournament hope this helped

That alone makes you better than a great number of other people who fuck up. Your mistake wasn't intentional, it wasn't malicious, it was just one big goof which happens to the best of us. Regi made the right choice by keeping you, he saw that it was an honest mistake and that it didn't reflect on you as a person. dig had an game strat where they would do something cheesy (I think they would have Taric do some roaming)and it was super effective. while talking in the gamer lounge dyrus talked about how TSM would get fucked by a taric roam. on the game of dig they tried that strat and the Korean team countered it accordingly...result to a shut down of dig.
I'm just a recent fan from over the past year, and had no idea about all of this. I found it interesting, but I know that mistakes happen. Guilt will always be there, but keep moving forward.

He scrimmed a lot against Dignitas, so he knew their strategy (I assume they were in different groups at Worlds), and then he accidentally mentioned the strategy out loud to another team.
lol hahaha, that sucks, and since he didn't think before he said anything it just came out, but i mean i dont think having one good strat should make a team lcs status or worlds so i guess they didnt really deserve the title imo.
A strategy like that where it would beat TSM at the time over 80% of the time is worth pulling out at worlds at a certain stage that could get you either out of group stages or even as a clutch strategy in the best of 5 finals points. Its enough of a leak that a strategy that was worked on for months and practiced heavily will be gone and out of possible use. In the same way, football playbooks are kept secret from enemy teams.
You are the reason TSM became my favorite LCS team and you are by far my favorite player, this video just reinforces that. Keep your head up, time moves on and we all make mistakes.

it wasn't just a cheese strat. it shifted the meta of support roams...and at the time taric was a monster. and with ezreal....even better duo. hence the romantic relationship of ez and taric...it was more than just cheese
meta wasn't so strong in early days of lol. Just go and search for pro plays of that time. Basicly every game coud be considered as cheese by todays standards. I mean the whole jungler role was cheese, just watch m5 vs tsm iem kiev finals, like halve a year b4 season 2 finals. They own tsm with map control and counterjungling. Some basic stuff for todays league but back then noone expected this style of game.
I don't know na is stepping up there game more and more everywhere, either that or every other team is just getting worse and worse. :P But hell they are winning and actually competing now, clg won second play at msi beat out some pretty strong teams and roflstomped eu. So na must be doing something right and ya gotta give them credit. Sure they aren't the best but they are stepping up there game, if you can't see that then you're just blind. They are probably the second best region at the moment judging by how the other ones are doing. Eu has fallen way down, like right off a cliff :p. china is still china. and korea is falling off and eventually once skt loses one tournament there team will come crumbling down more then likely, like just about every other all-star or unstoppable teams. They will go on tilt and end up trying to change things in there strats, which will only make it worse. Which will lead them to fight and second guess each other, which will inevitably tear apart their synergy and team. The ones we should be calling a joke at the moment and criticizing is eu they actually need it at the moment. Sure they won worlds once upon a time, but what have they done since then? They have gotten complacent and lazy, either that or they just suck and refuse to adapt and get better like the other regions, in which case it's worse than the ladder. But i don't think any team will beat skt this time, maybe in a year or two. There's still some more improvements other teams need to make.

the thing is Dig HAD a chance of making it past group stage, but because Dyrus leaked the strategy they had, (The strat was they have a Shyvanna and Taric do some sneaky roaming around the map), All they teams found out and prepared for it, Dig only got trashed and embarrassed in group stage because all the teams knew about their strategy
If it would be such a great strat, other teams would not counter it, but use it. If it was not leaked, Dig would win the 1st game and then get trashed like they did on the rest of the games because the other teams were just better.
So, i became a fan, about a year ago and until now, i didnt really know about that. I think everyone can see, how much you regret it, but as far as i can say: mistakes happen. Im one of your longest subs now and I don't think you should go around and overthink it. It's not worth it since you are only stressing yourself. Things that you can't change is not worth to think about. Since its like 4 years ago aswell there's really no reason for you to feel bad still. I was exactly like this as a teenager too, things that other people just knew about how to make conversation went completely over my head and i would end up saying things that i shouldn't. I agree that a lot of it was that i was anti-social and i would kinda jump at the chance to be part of the conversation and i would just get excited and not think about whether i should say it or not. So this vid is 1 week old ok cool. Dyrus, my dude, you were an 18 year old kid becoming a professional in an organization that was still in its infancy. Even today a mere what, 6 years since this game has been out is still imo at the beginning stages of development. No one was ready for what was to come. (Note: I know MLG was around for a while, but esports is what really hit main stream imo and that is what I am basing my opinion on). I don't think people understand why Dyrus is so broken over it. QT and Dom joke around about it but there definitely is some truth to their words. Dyrus potentially ruined their future careers. In season 2 Dyrus accidentally leaked team Dignitas' key strategy that he had learned while scrimming against him. The strategy that they used was never revealed outside of scrims, and was extremely successful for the team, to the point where before worlds they admitted how confident they were and they believed they were a strong contender to win worlds. After that Dyrus accidentally leaked the strategy to a friend, and then word got around to the rest of the teams. By the time Team Dignitas went into the group stage, everybody knew about the strategy, and how to play around it. Dignitas ended up getting stomped in the group stage.
Poor Dyrus, still paying for a mistake he made 4 years ago. He's a good guy, he actually feels responsibility and sorrow for his mistake. R.I.P

Dyrus, I joined league several months ago. I knew nothing about anything related to the game at all. I checked out youtube for some players that were that combo of really good plus fun to watch. Four of the five I found and liked were Qt, scarra, dom, and you. You were of course my third favorite. Kappa Up until now, I thought you guys were real chums and loved playing together because of your past in LCS together, even on separate teams. This video and the background I read up on did absolutely nothing to change that opinion. I still see you guys as good friends, and I think they see it the same way. Especially qt, that's so like him to just ask for some taco bell. I hope you know these guys realized exactly what happened. They know it was an accident and you never meant anything harmful to those guys, so they think nothing less of you and neither do I. I think in the past Thorin has heralded your playstyle as innovative and a key reason to TSM's success in NA, and he has always commended your durable legacy of domestic dominance and adaptability. Try not to let the banter get to you to hard, because he dishes it out for a lot of players he still respects, and your performance vs Korean tops is something he uses to draw comparisons and talk a bit of banter shit, I think its better to react how most others do and take it on the chin, but I can't exactly know how you feel about that and you are perfectly entitled to act how you want, its just something to consider. I think Thorin is fairly unbiased when he makes these comments about you, because he has definitely highlighted the good of your career while also taking jabs at the bad, which is how everyones career kind of goes except you have at least gotten some praise. I'm probably coming off as a Thorin stan, but i'm mainly a Dyrus fan who wants to try help give some perspective.

You were basically a teenager at the time, arriving at a whole new life with a whole new set of responsibilities that you obviously weren't accustomed to. I'm not saying that it wasn't your fault, but it was definitely a small mistake on your part that that was blown out of proportion because of the circumstances. I don't think you should care too much about the "backstab meme" since you didn't backstab them, you simply tripped and fell. In the same situation, I would've probably done the same, but I would have completely caved under the weight of what happened afterward, and left the game entirely. You had the strength to stand where I would have crumbled, and I respect that.

Jerr Bear dignitas had like a godlike strat and he "leaked" it
Basically, before events, teams have scrims where they test out their strats vs other lcs calibre teams. It's sort of a rule that teams aren't allowed to discuss anything they've learnt from scrims other than in their own team, and Dyrus screwed over Dignitas by revealing one of their main strategies. So he 'backstabbed Qtiepie' (only one member of Dig, mind), who all took it quite well, but Dyrus still beats himself up pretty hard about it, because he feels like he wasn't punished enough

so, what happened, was, during scrims vs Dig, they finally figured out the strat that Dig was using at the time. then, at worlds, before the tournament started, he was in the player lounge with all the other teams and players, and when people were talking about Dig as a team, Dyrus blurted, outloud, Digs strat. so all the other teams knew about it, so they countered it right from the start. so it FUCKED dig because that was the strat that they had been practicing and getting better at. And the mental stress he underwent after realizing what he did, tilted him and his team for that tournament

dig had an game strat where they would do something cheesy (I think they would have Taric do some roaming)and it was super effective. while talking in the gamer lounge dyrus talked about how TSM would get fucked by a taric roam. on the game of dig they tried that strat and the Korean team countered it accordingly...result to a shut down of dig.

He scrimmed a lot against Dignitas, so he knew their strategy (I assume they were in different groups at Worlds), and then he accidentally mentioned the strategy out loud to another team.
He trained with them so he knew their strat, then pre-lcs he opened his mouth in front of everyone.

it wasn't just a cheese strat. it shifted the meta of support roams...and at the time taric was a monster. and with ezreal....even better duo. hence the romantic relationship of ez and taric...it was more than just cheese

meta wasn't so strong in early days of lol. Just go and search for pro plays of that time. Basicly every game coud be considered as cheese by todays standards. I mean the whole jungler role was cheese, just watch m5 vs tsm iem kiev finals, like halve a year b4 season 2 finals. They own tsm with map control and counterjungling. Some basic stuff for todays league but back then noone expected this style of game.

I don't know na is stepping up there game more and more everywhere, either that or every other team is just getting worse and worse. :P
But hell they are winning and actually competing now, clg won second play at msi beat out some pretty strong teams and roflstomped eu. So na must be doing something right and ya gotta give them credit. Sure they aren't the best but they are stepping up there game, if you can't see that then you're just blind. They are probably the second best region at the moment judging by how the other ones are doing. Eu has fallen way down, like right off a cliff :p. china is still china.
and korea is falling off and eventually once skt loses one tournament there team will come crumbling down more then likely, like just about every other all-star or unstoppable teams. They will go on tilt and end up trying to change things in there strats, which will only make it worse. Which will lead them to fight and second guess each other, which will inevitably tear apart their synergy and team.
The ones we should be calling a joke at the moment and criticizing is eu they actually need it at the moment. Sure they won worlds once upon a time, but what have they done since then? They have gotten complacent and lazy, either that or they just suck and refuse to adapt and get better like the other regions, in which case it's worse than the ladder.
But i don't think any team will beat skt this time, maybe in a year or two. There's still some more improvements other teams need to make.

the thing is Dig HAD a chance of making it past group stage, but because Dyrus leaked the strategy they had, (The strat was they have a Shyvanna and Taric do some sneaky roaming around the map), All they teams found out and prepared for it, Dig only got trashed and embarrassed in group stage because all the teams knew about their strategy
If it would be such a great strat, other teams would not counter it, but use it.
If it was not leaked, Dig would win the 1st game and then get trashed like they did on the rest of the games because the other teams were just better.

Things that you can't change is not worth to think about. Since its like 4 years ago aswell there's really no reason for you to feel bad still. I was exactly like this as a teenager too, things that other people just knew about how to make conversation went completely over my head and i would end up saying things that i shouldn't. I agree that a lot of it was that i was anti-social and i would kinda jump at the chance to be part of the conversation and i would just get excited and not think about whether i should say it or not. I think that if the people themselves have forgiven you, then you should try to forgive yourself now, because i'm sure your friends don't want you to keep feeling bad over something that they've gotten over.

So this vid is 1 week old ok cool. Dyrus, my dude, you were an 18 year old kid becoming a professional in an organization that was still in its infancy. Even today a mere what, 6 years since this game has been out is still imo at the beginning stages of development. No one was ready for what was to come. (Note: I know MLG was around for a while, but esports is what really hit main stream imo and that is what I am basing my opinion on). You all did not have the same opportunities that are available today. i.e. PR staff, a sports psychologist, etc. You handled your situation the best a young man in a young organization with limited help could do. The fact that you are able to realize the mistakes you made is highly commendable and should be applauded. Thank you for your video to explain what went down in the old days of league (pro gaming).
