Easily the most beautiful River Wave we have seen all summer. Just icing on the cake to surf an incredible sand bar that formed from the breaching event.

Looks like Alisso beach in laguna beach CA. This is not illegal, this happens on and off by itself whenever it get high in level. It literally terminates at the beach so if it gets higher it runs into the ocean

@@Phani_2001it is not, this is happening because there is a lot of water piled up in the river, most likely a heavy rain just poured and filled up the river, and a breach will happen later on because of it, the reason why this isn't illegal is because this happens naturally in that area, and by naturally I mean without any interference or assistance by humans, and i'm pretty zure they're already given a green light before doing this, the only thing they are doing is breaching it in advanced, and yes it does destroy the ecosystem, but again, the point here is that that thing will happen naturally, even if left alone, it will slowly make it's way to the ocean, and overflow, until it gets that big, and the fact that they started with a small shovel like that, means that it was gonna happen way sooner, what they're doing is not illegal since it's something that happens naturally, unless it is not natural, and I mean like something that isn't supposed to happen, then only then it is illegal, since at this specific area it is natural, supposed to happen, or is common, what they are doing is just assissting, or quickening it's breach, so no it isn't illegal

Beaches are made out of tiny bits of erroded rock that we call sand and they form due to natural deposition, the sand moved by the new passage will eventually settle back on the beach again with time. The only reason it looks like its 'collapsing' is because of the new errosion caused by the new connection. Give it a bit of time to settle down and it will form a more "natural" connection like the ones you stereotypically would see.

So normally then, is that river splitting the beach and going into the sea at that point? But because of a tide or storm or something, its become blocked and caused a type of dam and a build up of water? Or are you altering the normal course of the water? Becaue now im seeing a beach with a 2m deep gorge in it.
The water was going to overflow.
River breaks happen as they fill. Assisted or not. As the tide and waves keep flowing after a the break is done, it rebuilds the beach and sand bar/wall allowing the river to build up again.
Some systems can cycle every year, while others can be multiple years between breaks
No, it is not a river and often times there is nothing flowing into the ocean because it is nothing more than runoff from streets when it rains.

I think what you're doing is fun for you but is there an environmental impact to what you just did? Would that much water would have gone into the ocean at that point? Are there vegetation in place at any point along the creek that benefit from the creek overflow? What does it do as far as sand erosion? Our actions have consequences well beyond us. Unless that would have occurred naturally anyway, it's not enough to just pick up garbage.

Years ago, I sat at San Simeon Creek, Central Ca, USA n the beach to watch the berm get breeched. It had been raining a lot that year and the creek was swollen. While out walking, I noticed how swollen the creek was and that it was about to breech. It started to rain, so I went back to camp to get rain gear and a beach chair. I sat and watched the breech occur, wash the the sand away, and the breech continue to get wider. I sat there almost two hours until I got too cold and went back to camp. The wave action builds up the berm, the creek backs up upstream until it breeches the berm.The cycle continues.
You can be assured that any breach that you can precipitate with a tiny plastic shovel is one that is already firmly inevitable in a matter of days if not hours. Gravity will always win. The guy in the video just showed up for the assist.

Don't let the people saying this happens naturally make you believe that this is okay to do. Floods and forest fires also happen naturally, that doesn't mean people should go setting them off. This does have serious consequences for the environment, beyond those you mentioned it also can kill the fish from the river that end up in the salt water if they are freshwater fish from a fresh water source. Honestly this sort of behavior is selfish and if everyone acted like this on the regular the beaches would be a mess.
@aidenkeith9338 I don't think you understand what's going on here. It's a river that flows to the ocean. It WILL be breaking through to the ocean with or without someone giving it a nudge and it will get dammed up again by the tides for the cycle to repeat again and again.
