Roman Catholic here , I have been attending the Maronite Catholic Church due to its smaller attendance during the pandemic. I must say, it’s beautiful. Truly beautiful the way the Holy Mass is said there , and the consecration, it’s stunning. I have a great deep love for the western Mass, but I have garnered such love for the Maronite Church as well. I adore it. She is beautiful. So beautiful.

I was also raised Roman Catholic . There were many Catholic churches in my area and I attended all of them when I was looking for a new church. I stayed with the Maronite church because the message resonated more. I think it is more mystic than the mass I grew up with.

@@deus_vult8111 it’s not really invalid. I believe those to be far extreme positions and not the general consensus. Perhaps on Catholic TH-cam it may be a bit skewed, but, on the greater whole of the worldwide church, the consensus is not that the Novus ordo is “invalid”.

I went to a Maronite rite church today for the first time, and it was a nice experience! I really enjoyed it. I was a little flustered bc of lack of sleep (I am a first time mom) and my baby got upset at one point. 😂 But I was impressed with how holy the mass is. It felt very familiar to me bc of Orthodox Judaism. I enjoyed it so much, I want to go back. It felt like the liturgy was more complete in a way. Yes, it is the same just in a different order, but I felt like the Maronite rite does a better job of walking you through.

After witnessing Jesus's miracles, the Phoenicians aka the Lebanese,
from the coastal cities of Phoenicia aka Lebanon, converted to the Catholic faith in 34 ad.
Jesus said: “Woe to you, Chorazin and Bethsaida

…If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon,
they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon

I first heard about the Maronite branch of the Catholic Church when I was a kid back in the mid-1960's. That was when my uncle married a woman from Baghdad, Iraq who was a Maronite Christian. We were all very surprised as it was a sudden wedding and there were concerns that my soon-to-be aunt was just marrying my uncle so she could stay in the United States. (She was here on a student visa.) Well, I'm happy to say that was not the case! This was about the time when Saddam Hussain came to power, although the family story was that Aunt Sabrina didn't want to go back to Iraq because her family had picked out a husband for her that she didn't want to marry so she asked her brother, who was also studying in the US at the time, if he knew any decent American men. He said he did indeed and introduced her to my uncle. Not long after that my uncle announced they were getting married! Oh, my! Baghdad? Where's that? Remember, very few Americans had heard of Iraq at that time; now everybody knows about Baghdad and Iraq. Anyway, one of the things I heard my parents and other family members talking about was that there weren't any religious barriers to the marriage as my uncle was Roman Catholic and the Maronites were just a different kind of Catholic. I've never been to a Maronite Mass but I hope to if I get a chance. From the video it sounds like it might be similar to a Greek Orthodox service. I went to one once, thinking, oh, this is going to be just like the Mass but in Greek. Was I ever surprised. Everything was mixed up and scrambled as well as being in Greek and I simply could not follow what was going on! So now I know if I go to a Maronite Mass to be prepared, that it isn't going to be anything like either the Tridentine Latin Mass or the Novus Ordo English Mass. By the way, I now attend a Lutheran church because my late father was Lutheran and this is a way of getting in touch with and honoring his memory as this is the very church he once attended. The service is very similar to the Novus Ordo Mass and I enjoy talking with the pastors about the similarities and differences between the two. I even joke with them: "Are you SURE this is a Lutheran church? You have a painting of the Black Madonna at one entrance, you put up the Stations of the Cross during Lent, and you mention Catholic saints during the liturgy, some of which are probably rolling over in their graves at this point. Not only that you have an engraving of the baptism of St. Therese of Lisieux, my namesake, in the common area. And you sing parts of the liturgy. To me, that says Catholic." They laughed and said "Well, we're Catholicism Lite."

I love Maronites, but as a Byzantine Catholic who was Roman Catholic and has been to a few Maronite Liturgies they’ve become too Romanized. David Phillips Your statement is odd. Orthodox Christians regard certain Catholic dogmas (like the Pope being head of the Church rather than Christ) as heresy which makes reconnecting the EO and the Catholic Church a difficult matter. But according to Catholic dogma, you just committed heresy by accusing a sitting Pope of heresy and having been wrong regarding ecumenical affairs (Papal Infallibility). These are things that (if you were a true Catholic in your heart rather than just on the internet) would require repentance and confession in order for you to accept the Eucharist. I can disagree with the Bishops above me, I could even say they are wrong. I still am obligated to follow their direction, but we have no Pope, and we have no such doctrine of Papal infallibility. As a Catholic you violate the very Dogmas of the Catholic Church that make reunion difficult by accusing the Pope of heresy. Personally, I think the prayer of Christ in John 17:20-21 that we be one in Him as He and the Father are one should be an indicator that JPll was flllowinf the leading of the Holy Spirit and was right to attempt to restore unity with the Church.

Matt 16:17- Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven."
Matt 16:18-And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.."
Matt 16:19-And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
The interpretation of this passage varies among different Christian denominations:
Catolichs say its peter who is the church father of all and has Infallibility!
While Eastern Orthodox Christians acknowledge Peter's importance among the apostles, they interpret the "rock" upon which the Church is built as referring to Peter's confession of faith in Jesus as the Christ rather than Peter himself.
They do not accept the idea of Peter being the sole earthly head of the Church, emphasizing instead a conciliar model of Church leadership.

I am a Maronite. My rite has been unimaginably and irreparably disfigured and altered by Latin triumphalism of previous centuries... and solidified by modern indifference to it. This wasn't just due to Jesuits in the 17th century (who burnt our books and destroyed our liturgy to teach us the "proper" Latin way), or French Latins in the Levant during the Naploeonic era... but was even more eagerly accomplished by the Maronites themselves, who wanted to be associated by those in the region with the much more powerful, prestigious Latin Rite. I can convey to you my personal sadness over the result of Latin and Maronite disregard of the principles laid out by the Church regarding the preservation of the integrity of rites. Sadly, there is not much that meets the eye to differentiate us from the Latin... and there once was, and it was simple and beautiful. Maronites are the least Eastern of all Eastern Churches. And the proof of what I'm saying is how indifferent Maronites are to their rite, bailing in drove over convenience to the Latin rite.

    Hi Father
Please excuse me but it sounds like you're trying hard to convince people that we (Maronites) are essentially the same as Roman Catholics. The problem with this, and a key fact you didn't mention in this video, is that we respect and revere the Lord in tangible, unequivocal ways, primarily in the way we receive Holy Communion. It would be unthinkable for a Maronite priest to give Communion in the hand whereas RC priests arguably prefer to do this. Likewise, it would be unthinkable for A Maronite parishioner to receive Our Lord in the hand whereas for RCs, they're only too happy to do so. This is sacrilege and I am happy I am NOT engaged in this horrendous practice. This is why I stay away from the RC novus ordo mass. Your thoughts on this please?

Hello and thank you for the comment. This video was made as a very broad overview about the differences and similarities between the Maronite Church and the Latin (Roman) Catholic Church. We share many of the same beliefs and traditions (this I'm sure you know), for example in praying the same Creed and we also have many beautiful traditions and practices particular to the Eastern Churches and as Maronites. I did not cover very many of these facts in this video to keep this video at around 3 minutes.
You are correct in that we receive Holy Eucharist by intinction and only on the tongue and that is a difference between the Maronite Church and the Latin (Roman) Catholic Church. I too am happy that we receive Holy Eucharist by intinction and not in the hand, receiving both Body and Blood together every time we receive Holy Communion.

      @@ignitethemaronite18 thanks for replying, Father.
It's so hard for us because in the UK, the Maronite Church is based in London and my family and I live too far to travel there every Sunday, so we can either attend RC Mass, where all manner of questionable things are being practised, or we have to falter on our obligation to attend Sunday Mass and not attend at all. I wish it were different, I wish we could have a unified, consistent respect for Christ throughout the Universal Church, where my children could walk into our local RC Church and feel Jesus is being loved the way He deserves, but the reality is that our Maronite heritage is so, so different that we are made to feel like extremists who don't keep up with the changes in the world. What should we do?

Monk Anthony I just wanted to say that I am a Roman Catholic and myself and many others receive Holy Communion on the tongue. I think it’s just the person’s preference. But our priests will do what each person is comfortable with. If someone walks up with their hands out, they will place in the hand and if someone walks up ready to receive on their tongue, the priest will do so. Many of the older generation will receive on the tongue. Have a good day, God bless💕

We are right to avoid the RC novus ordo, it is a joke and Maronites know it. Many are just afraid of the political fallout of saying so.

@@antoniakozah3214 Hi Antonia, I'm sorry to hear about your difficulty in attending a Maronite Liturgy and how you feel that the local Roman Catholic masses do not honor our Lord the way we should. I know some churches can seem to be more reverent than others. The obligation to celebrate the Divine Liturgy (Mass) is still applied to you and your family. Perhaps there is a church closer than London that celebrates the Mass in a manner you connect with and feel Jesus present. Also, another idea is to attend the local church, when you can't make it to the Maronite Liturgy in London, and afterwards speak with your children about the Mass and show them how other Catholics celebrate, maybe with TH-cam videos of Tridentine Masses for example. God bless you and it seems to me that in your heart you are trying to be a good and faithful disciple and it's not always easy to follow the path of our Lord. He is always with you.

John 3:13 (Jesus said)No one ascended into heaven. but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which was from the heaven.
Matthew 5: 5 (and also Jesus said)
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Arabic language down👇 (interesting for marounite religion)
Jesus did not have long hair as apostle Paul said in. A.Corinthians 11:14-15
14 Does not even nature itself teach you, that if a man have long hair, it is an insult to him? 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is to her glory. for his hair is given to him for a covering:
Why do we grow old and die?
GOD did not want humans to die. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, were created with a perfect mind and body. They could still be alive today. This is clear from what God said to Adam about a tree growing in the garden of Eden.
God said to Adam: “The day you eat [from the tree] you will surely die.” - Genesis 2:17. This command would have been meaningless if Adam had been created to grow old and die. Adam knew that if he did not eat from that tree, he would not die.
GOD'S PURPOSE WAS NOT THAT PEOPLE DIE.
God said to Adam: "Eat your bread with the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground from where you were taken. for you were dust and you will become dust. ”- Genesis 3: 17-19. As a result, “all the days of Adam's life were nine hundred and thirty years and he died.” - Genesis 5: 5. Adam did not go to heaven or hell. Or live in a spiritual realm.
    What is the Resurrection?
    The Bible's answer
In the Bible, the Greek word translated "resurrection" means "to stand" or "to restore." The resurrected person is resurrected from the dead and is the same person who was before. - 1 Corinthians 15:12, 13.
It is true that the word "resurrection" is not found in the Hebrew Scriptures, which are known as the Old Testament, but the promise of resurrection is there. For example, through the prophet Hosea, God promised: “I will rescue them from the hand of the grave, and I will rescue them from death.” - Hosea 13:14; Job 14: 13-15; Isaiah 26:19; Daniel 12: 2, 13.
Where will people be resurrected? Some people will be resurrected to live in heaven. There they will reign with Jesus Christ. - 2 Corinthians 5: 1; Revelation 5: 9, 10. The Bible calls this resurrection "the first resurrection" and the word "first" makes it clear that there will be another resurrection. - Revelation 20: 6. That other resurrection will be for the living on earth, and most of the dead will be resurrected in this way. - Psalm 37:29.
How are the dead raised? God gave Jesus the power to resurrect the dead. - John 11:25. Jesus will bring to life “all those in the memorial tombs,” each with his own personality, attributes, and memories. - John 5:28, 29. Some will be resurrected to live in heaven, while others will be resurrected to live on earth with perfect and healthy bodies. - Isaiah 33:24; 35: 5, 6. 1 Corinthians 15: 42-44, 50
They multiply priests and saints with sad faces pile up, perform miracles, cast out demons. But Jesus said, The tree is known by its fruit.
    THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW
    7: 21-23:
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and did many miracles in your name?' 23 Then i will tell them plainly that I did not know you at all. Get away from me, you workers of iniquity.
    Matthew 7: 15-20
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do they gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles? 17 So every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; and an evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Ye shall know them by their fruits.
    B. LETTER TO CORINTHIANS (Paul)

13 For such are the apostles, liars, deceitful workers, impersonating the apostles of Christ. 14 And it is not surprising. because Satan also takes the form of a bright angel. 15 Wherefore, it is not a great thing that his ministers should be likened unto the ministers of righteousness. Their end will be in proportion to their deeds.
4: 4. In whom is the god of this world?
(Satan) blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the light of the glory of the gospel of Christ might not shine upon them, which is the image of God.
Eternal life is a free gift from God. The eternal punishment is not righteousness because how many years can a person live at most? Here, eternal punishment means eternal death. God is Love!

I hear this explanation that stems from what Christ told Peter Petros which means "small stone,' that upon 'this ROCK you will build My CHURCH etc. but the Rock is NOT Peter, it is Christ Lord. This is erroneous teaching by the Catholic Church. Christ is ALWAYS the Rock, He is the cornerstone the builders rejected Psalm 118:22, Matt. 21:42 and this verified throughout scripture Isaiah 8: Then He shall become a sanctuary; A STONE AND A ROCK to stumble over,
And a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem., 1 Peter 2:8, Isaiah 28:!6, Daniel 2:34, 35, 45, and PAUL is telling you in 1 Corinthians 10:1 Corinthians 10:4
    Verse Concepts
and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual ROCK which followed them; AND THE ROCK WAS CHRIST.

    • @TheLionessjudah
      @TheLionessjudah 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Order Of The Black Cross According to what was said about Peter being the Rock is not correct. Christ is the Rock not Peter, and the Church is the Body of Believers. There is only one Head Christ and at Pentecost all were gathered together equally to receive the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:14 states 14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice. Again it is a collective body standing up. And after the words he spoke were told the people it reads 37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (collective body again is being acknowledged). This is the first Church body in JERUSALEM, not Rome.
Paul later came to preach to the Gentiles and established the Churches in Asia Minor. He is the Apostle to the Gentiles, and even Peter acknowledges that role. Paul spent 3 years in Saudi Arabia to receive the calling to preach the gospel of Grace thus Peter says. If you read hard into it, it is written According to the Epistle to the Galatians chapter 2, Peter had traveled to Antioch and there was a dispute between him and Paul. Galatians 2:11-13 says: ... When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong.12 When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. 13 As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. So this is evidence Peter was still conducting himself as a Jew and it took a vision before he went to Cornelius house to make him understand the New Covenant that Paul was preaching to the Gentiles.
Paul is really the one that is the chosen to preach to the Gentiles concerning Grace of the New Covenant over the Law thus Peter tells you 2 Peter 3: …15Consider also that our Lord’s patience brings salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote you with the WISDOM GOD GAVE HIM. 16 He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
Peter never went to Rome so you cannot say that Peter founded the Catholic Church and he is not the Rock as you stated. Christ is the Rock always in the BIBLE as I gave you the proof of the verses in my original paragraphs citing it. This is the problem when men distort the Bible to fit a false narrative and the Bible thus is used for correction.

    • @TheLionessjudah
      @TheLionessjudah 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Philippe Sébastien No I showed you that throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament that CHRIST IS ALWAYS THE ROCK. Simon Peter was being addressed as a stone little stone, But in reference to the Cornerstone which is the Church it is established on and that cornerstone the builders (Jews) rejected has now become the 'cornerstone for the Church body, You have to compare scripture to scripture not taking anything out of context to devise a meaning privately. If you did your research or at least read my original references, it is very clear that Christ is the ROCK. 1 Corinthians 10:4
And ALL drank the SAME spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.
(you read Peter or Christ?) Again The statement “God is the Rock of my salvation” occurs several times in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 32:15; 2 Samuel 22:47; Psalm 89:26; 95:1). In each case, the expression evokes vivid imagery and a sense of security. God is a trustworthy, rock-solid Savior. Look it up.
Also when Christ Returns to the Jews at the end of age Daniel's prophesy of which even Christ Lord refers to as to the latter day when Matt. 24: 14 And THIS gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. 15So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination of desolation,’ described by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand), 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.…
Nebuchadnezzar (if you remember his dream) was interpreted by Daniel of the image of the 5 kingdoms to come on the earth that will hold power and the last kingdom is mentioned as the iron mixed with clay (Iron is Rome) and that last kingdom. That image was being destroyed and did you who read who comes to destroy the image at that latter day or end of age when Christ returns and the ROCK or stone destroys the kingdoms. on earth represented by that Image which again the rock is Christ or Peter ? Listen the ROCK unhewed by hands is CHRIST. Daniel 2: …33its legs were iron, and its feet were part iron and part clay. 34While you were watching, a stone was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and crushed them. 35Then the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold were shattered and became like chaff on the threshing floor in summer. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the STONE (is this Peter? NO) that had struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.…That MOUNTAIN ROCK OR STONE IS CHRIST and it is mentioning HIS KINGDOM TO COME. (LIKE WHEN YOU PRAY LET YOUR KINGDOM COME)
Always when you read the Bible you have to denote the cross references of Christ who is the WORD, the WORD is active and alive, you need to do careful research into the scriptures to understand the meaning of the scriptures as it is given. It is not for private interpretations. Do a study and research of it vs me having to do it for you.

    • @TheLionessjudah
      @TheLionessjudah 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Philippe Sébastien So what. It is not the language it is the meaning of what is in the Bible. You are caught up in a distraction. At Pentecost the Holy Spirit came upon the congregation and all were speaking in tongues (different languages), the Bible tells you all the languages, so that the Apostles could go out in the world and preach the gospel.
Here we are talking about the representation of Christ Lord, as shown you by the many verses that the SPIRITUAL ROCK IS CHRIST. (the same chapter of The Lord telling Peter Matt. 16:18 'you are Peter the little stone, UPON THIS ROCK,(CHRIST) the church is built etc Christ then explains it to you in Matt 21: Matthew 21:42-44, "Jesus said to them: 'Have you never read in the Scriptures: (CROSS REFERENCING HIMSELF AS THE ROCK) The stone which the builders rejected has become the Chief Cornerstone, this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
Christ is explaining what He told Peter that HE HIMSELF IS THE ROCK. He is that CORNERSTONE THE BUILDERS REJECTED AND NOW HE IS ESTABLISHING HIS CHURCH BODY OF BELIEVERS. He is the HEAD AND WE ARE THE BODY..
You are cherry picking the scriptures and losing the meaning. READ THE BIBLE ON THESE VERSES.

@Philippe Sébastien You know when the devil comes to distort the scriptures by false doctrines and leavening (a little leaven leavens the whole loaf) and people do not want to hear the Truth, they become disjointed in the Body of Christ (out of sync with the Word (Christ is the Word) but it is to their own peril. This is why Paul was warning people about this. I am not speaking on my own accord, I am telling you via the WORD OF GOD what CHRIST LORD said. If you don't want it, then that is your choice. I did my work of showing you. For those who seek TRUTH they will find it when they ask.

Jesus renamed his apostle, Simon Bar Jonah to Kepha, Rock in Aramaic,
      the language of Jesus.
Later, it was translated to the more popular ancient Koine Greek, Petros,
      then to the English, Peter.
Both the Hebrew and Aramaic languages stemmed from the
      Phoenician (Lebanese) alphabet.
Syriaic , a form of Aramaic, is spoken at a Maronite mass.
The Dead Sea Scrolls were originally written in Aramaic.
Kepha set the first tenets of the Church at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 ad.
He also appointed the first bishops to the 7 churches listed in the Book of Revelation,
St Justin Martyr and St Ignatius of Antioch.
There were also referred to as the early first century Church Fathers.
St Paul and the apostles acknowledged Kepha as the authority of the Church
      at this Council.
"Let no one do anything of concern to the Church without the bishop.
Let that be considered a valid Eucharist,
which is celebrated by the bishop or by one whom he ordains
      [i.e., a presbyter aka priest].
Wherever the bishop appears, let the people be there; just as wherever Jesus Christ is,
      there is the Catholic Church."
(St Ignatius of Antioch, Letter to the Smyrneans 8:2 - 110 A.D.)
      ********************************************************
St Paul and 8 of the educated apostles wrote in the more popular Koine Greek.
Since Hebrew wasn't spoken or written by most Jews,
the 7 Deuro Cannonical Books were first written in the more popular ancient Koine Greek.
3 Jewish sects and the first century Christians followed these books.
Then, 2 of the Jewish sects translated these books into Hebrew,
while changing words like virgin to woman,
in order to further distance themselves from the Christians.
This heretical version was called the Apocrypha.
Yet, the Septuagint Jews and the Catholic Christians still followed the
original, unedited Koine Greek books, now called the Septuagint texts.
BTW: Reformer founder, Martin Luther, followed the heretical Apocrypha.
The foundation for the 30,000+ different Reformer sects and their edited Bibles/books.

THE HOLY GHOST COMES FROM THE FATHER AND FROM THE SON!!! And furthermore, The Maronites gave Rome an ultimatum that if they agreed with the orthodox then Rome will be in anathema of God's Church and we Maronite would NOT support that sort of rubbish the orthodox were trying to spin... hence to The Creed CLEARLY STATES who sent The Holy Ghost!!!

Just like modern Greek stems from the ancient Koine Greek..
The 7 Deuro Cannonical books were original written in ancient Koine Greek.
St Paul and 8 of the educated apostles wrote in the more popular ancient Koine Greek.

You’re wrong, syriac is the language of the church.
In fact the name of the church is Syriac Maronite Catholic Church of Antioch
The Maronites spoke syriac from the beginning till 1800.
It was only in the last 200 years that we stopped using the language and switched to arabic

The Lord used Maria like a instrument in his hands right,
Jesus was born by the Holy Spirit, by the virgin Mary. There is no salvation by a human, only through Jesus Christ, it's that simple. The Roman church is not the real church.

@@bijogeojose7209 Was David an idol worshiper when he said in Psalm 138:2, "I will bow down toward Your holy temple
." Or did he worship the whom the Temple represented? In Exodus 33:10 did Israel worship a cloud, or the one whom the cloud represented? Exodus 33:10 "And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the door of the tent, all the people would rise up and worship, every man at his tent door." Did Joshua worship the Ark of the Covenant, or the one who's spirit was in the Ark? Joshua 7:6 Then Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening. The true branch of Israel continues in the Orthodox Church. If you are unable to venerate and show honor to scripture, to the Eucharist that is the true body and blood of the messiah, to the Icons of Christ, the Theotokos, and the righteous saints who found favor before God then you might worship the same God as us, but you are not like Abraham, Moses, David, the Prophets, Jesus, The Apostles, the Church Fathers, and all the Orthodox Christians that continue in the traditions of the Apostles. The temple had all sorts of images in it, giving the lie to the notion that houses of worship couldn't possibly have any images. It had “carved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers” (1 Kg 6:29).
