  • A solo like this presents a musical statement of the highest sensitivity. Perfectly fits the mood and reflection of the song. I used my Sadowsky Tele thru a Mesa Boogie Express . Ocean 11 reverb and and an Xotic EP boost rolled back. Note : neck pickup and the volume knob is lowered. This solo requires a pitch perfect vibrato with a lot of feel and good time.

I agree, Jimbo - a bit of an unsung hero. And man, what a fantastic song and solo! So moving and heart-felt! Great job.

Brown and Lindley's finest work. I love it. I wish I could play it like you!

Thank you, I played this song in a duet with a vocalist/guitarist 5 nights a week - I never got tired of it . The words and guitar solo a perfect match

Such a beautiful solo. Man had amazing sensitivity in his ears and fingers and heart. I actually emailed him (surprised to find his email address was visible on his website) about 15 years ago, in as polite and non-intrusive a way that I could come up with, in order to compliment him on his beautiful playing. To my amazement he responded!
He mentioned that he always responds to people with my name. What a charmer. More important to guitar players, he mentioned that he played it on a Tele with a Humbucker, through a small Fender amp (maybe a Champ, but I cant remember for certain). He also mentioned that he was amazed at what Jackson (his words not mine) did with editing the tape overnight, when he heard it the next day in the studio. I think he was genuinely being humble about his own playing, partly diverting to Jackson Brown's tape editing skills and musical ear. I was thrilled to get his response. The solo is so beautiful that I assumed the notes would be inaccessible to my playing ability. I am trying to learn this solo. Nice to see the notes are not particularly complicated at all, and maybe I can learn to replicate most of the notes. His touch and feel are what elevate it to magic I suppose. I wont be able to come close in that regard. You play it very well. Many thanks for showing it.

And I remember you and Tom playing at The Tavern on the Green Morristown, NJ. I think I jumped in for the first time that night adding vocal harmonies to a couple of tunes.

Wow! I think Dennis showed up a few times and eventually we became a trio .
I really enjoyed the simpler days of small clubs .

You're right, a beautiful song, beautifully played by you. One of my favorite solos. Only thing missing are tabs.

Thank you so much. The song is in the key of C. Solo is melodic to the chord changes. Use the service wheel in the upper left and change the speed to .75 and it becomes easier to follow. Let me know if you need any further help.

@@jamesmac5049 thanks. I've been getting it a little at a time. I was just being lazy whining about tabs. you really nailed the tone of this solo.

Not sure how it ended up in 'Taxi Driver" ...... It seemed so out of place ......

Not really, it worked well with the scene it was in.
