Buying sight unseen is always tricky. A few years ago I won an auction on Ebay for a 1972 Norton Commando 750 (motorcycle). It was in Michigan and I live in Connecticut. Winning bid was $5k! I went by the sellers feedback,he was rated at 100% with about 2,500 transactions and had been a member for 6 or 7 years. I paid $650 for shipping (arrived in a fully covered vehicle transport trailer) The bike started FIRST KICK! Ya I was nervous but it worked for me :-))
@Santiago Rocha i was thinking exactly the same, chain it up a very big pole/tree and drive the car forward slowly till there is tension on the chain and start pulling.
First it needs to be put on a pulling rig messure it pull the rear out if needed after that you replace the inner panels. If the back is dented this much I wonder if back axle hasn't moved by the accident as well.
Randy, what you've always got to consider when buying a sports car like a 350Z is that it's gonna be driven hard. You cane it when you drive it so you've gotta expect previous owners to do the same so the damage to the trunk area doesn't come as a surprise at all to me. Buying a family sedan or SUV is much less risky when dealing with used cars....always remember "Caveat Emptor".
Honestly once I pulled the quarter panel off Id take it to a frame shop and have them pull the rear out and hammer most of the kinks back in place and call it a day. As long as you are transparent to the buyer I dont see how it could do any harm selling it that way. Repairing it back to factory spec might put you upside down in it.
Cant wait to see the end result on the Harley ! Absolutely amazing deal you got there, and i just want to see it painted and finished and i am in love with this truck man !
Hope the Tulsa vehicle is another winner. Good deal on the ford Harley. The Z is not that bad. Weird Beard should be able to push the back metal out and straighten things up and replace the 1/4 panel.
I had a 95 Ford Taurus that wouldn’t start sometimes. It turned out to be a ground wire to the firewall that wasn’t making a complete contact. My friend has my car and it still runs great and no starting problems.
What? Cut the pan? Of course: This car has an enormous value! It is amazing to see that you are surprized to see that a car gets bent, where it was hit and straight where it was not hit! "Auto auctions (not) rebuilds" or "Auto auctions I replace masses of parts"?
One thing about ragtops: it'd be pretty easy to replace that quarter panel without having to do much welding and bondo work. Drill out the pinch welds and put the new one in. Use the new one as a guide to where you have to pull out the wrinkles in the trunk. It's inside the trunk so it doesn't have to be perfect.
Your vacuum leak on the Harley F150 is one of two things. Most likely directly behind the throttle body to the intake manifold is a main vacuum line which is a large diameter one that falls apart after that many miles. Also check the DPFE hoses that come off the left side of the exhaust. There should be two high temp lines going into a two port sensor. Those hoses also fall apart and sound like a vacuum leak.
If you pull the damage out in the rear the panel will straighten back up some. Just measure the distance before the pull then again after the pull. Then beat the hump out of the floor and reattach the floor to the factory weld spot. A big hammer is your friend. Once you weld the floor back down it will be fine. That will help line your panels back up. Good luck
Take it to a frame shop. You might be able to get the trunk tub pulled so you don't have to cut it. Then all you would have to remove is the quarter panel. Also, I know what you got! I'll be quiet though...
I wrote from the z day one that you should start with the quarter panel then you can decide whether you buy the parts for that front It's of course your channel Randy and I respect your decisions and the truth that i love your work means I wish you all the best
Was I to guess the 350Z was hit from the rear on that side and all the damage is a result of that. It will be interesting to see what the underside looks like. Knocking the filler out of the outside of the quarter will probably give more clues how bad it is.
If an insurance adjuster seen that rip in the trunk that's why they most likely totaled it out via the salvage title. The manufacture would have told them it's not fixable .. Now you and I know it is fixable but comes down to time / money and what you want the car for.. That car was built to be a performance sports machine and honestly it still can fill that need. I think that Z would be one heck of a car, but not if I was going to flip it... I would buy it for head turner purposes and fix it little by little when I had spare time .. The truck is looking great , you have some real nice machines .. Because they have rebuild titles I don't think I would risk sinking a lot of money in them in hopes to get a premium.. Great video, keep up the awesome work...
Hey randy. Im really lovin this truck !!!!!! I would check the connections on the starter they get really loose and rusty. Try to look at them before you drop a starter in it. Oh and tell john his truck is beautiful and looks and sounds 👍!!!!!#!##
Hey very nice Randy your Harley Davidson is looking much much better man oh man , hope the 350z have an easy fix bc I like that car a lot maybe you need to go to straight the rear with a frame machine to pull it back 👍😊 wanna see what Mike is doing
Out of love with the Z350 after this video, but in love with the Harley Davidson truck, you're a lucky guy man, Jessica? , has a lot to do with it, the altar awaits you guys. So let it be.
Keep up the great work really loving these videos randy, I also know what truck you are talking about not going to spoil it because they must look at your Instagram to see lol.
I don't think the front suspension is related to the front end accident damage, suspension bushes do seem to be a common issue with them which is why aftermarket bushes are such a popular upgrade on the Z cars...
Given how many panels have clear-coat problems, I'd be tempted to spray truck-bed liner all over - looks great, check out "B is for build"'s Toyota FJ Cruiser and "UnWrecked"'s Nissan Xterra.
Are you keeping the HD F150, Randy? I hope that you are. That is a cool truck! Good luck with the Z. For some reason, even with the automatic, I really like that car. I hope it can be easily fixed right. I feel like the car deserves that. It is a very striking car, even in the condition it is in.
It needs to be put on a rack and pulled out , the rear panel & 1/4 panel need to be replaced to be done right. otherwise you pull it out and re- repair it to get it resold. New rear panel and 1/4 panel, installed by a reputable shop will be cost prohibitive to resale it.
It's not a cut and shut, it's just a damn awful repair done by a backstreet garage or home mechanic. A cut and shut is when they take a front and rear end write off vehicle, cut down the middle with an orbital saw and then weld the two halves back together with no additional bracing or strengthening. They will typically rip in two if involved in a side impact accident or fold up if hit from the front or rear.
No it's not a cut and shut it's called a weld car a weld car means you have to drill out the seams on the vehicle to fix the problem. And weld new panels on that's a weld car completely different.
Sounds like my 2008 Honda Accord I had. It was hit in the right rear quarter and found out the rear axle was only bolted by one bolt out of the the two that were supposed to be on each side. And the rear passenger door would lock after it was opened like the door had never been opened. The paint was cracking. The rear window diff to fit because the frame for the window had been shifted. So it leaked when it rained. And the right rear door would drop a little after opened. Oh and the welds were contaminated
Tear down the rear of the Z, drill out the spot welds on the rear panels and pull the trunk pan/ frame rail back where it should be, straighten out the removed rear body panels and replace that quarter. Body shops have become lazy on the tit of the insurance industry and forgot the fundamentals of hard work for a living!!!! All in all that repair will take a little time to do it right but shouldn't cost all that much to source out and purchase a rear quarter clip to make right once again!!!!
That car was not fixed to the pre-accident condition because of a insurance issue, that car was previously totaled by an insurance company and sold as salvage, then bought and repaired by a fly by night quick filler, then resold at copart.
Right!, the collision repair industry has got lazy, its easier to only do simple repairs rather than a little more complex repairs like this one because the insurance industry deem it too expensive to repair in the first place so they got use to the quick and easy money the insurance doles out. But the collision industry think nothing of purchasing the same vehicles from auctions dirt cheap and doing the complex repairs to flip on their own because its also easy money..... in the end its all about the Benjamins.....
Poor Z, she's hurt pretty badly. You can look at Arthur Tussik videos to see how this kind of repair should be done, to have an idea of what it's going to happen next.
what do you give for the 350z? my chargers bushings are bad also. get a busing kit for the z car. does your body man have a press to change bushings? i myself would 1/4 section right rear at seams, seam sealer a great friend to have.z could be fixed safe and reasonable cost!! those cars are badass!
I think the 350z its too much damaged underneath and you better just let it go. (And the truck i like this look of the paint peeling off, maybe some blank paint on it?)
9:30 Just recently my car started doing that, I had to "jump-start" the starter with the solenoid with a screwdriver, it turned out to be the ignition switch, I took the starter with the solenoid to an auto parts store for testing and the told me they are shot and pushed me to buy a new one.
I love your show I think your show is cool I live here in Oklahoma City that's even cooler I do not like ford but that is all right up the good work I love you all as a friend have a Merry Christmas in goodbye
Honestly I'm more interested in the F150 refurb than the Z. I think thats kinda a lost cause....Id send it for a quick paint and send it down the road.
Looks like your going to need to replace the quarter panel and pull the floor out a little work needs to be done but not really that bad I’m sure someone ran the piss out of it so you will probably find other stuff as well
Arthur Tussik could fix it while you're at lunch.
LJU is that the guy who fixes those mangled euros
@@moemoe0032 Yes. He's in Lithuania

Good video 😀 I will enjoy the new vehicle you got .
I think you can pull out the rear end of the 350z with a chassis puller, no need to cut the rear end.
@Santiago Rocha i was thinking exactly the same, chain it up a very big pole/tree and drive the car forward slowly till there is tension on the chain and start pulling.

I had a 95 Ford Taurus that wouldn’t start sometimes. It turned out to be a ground wire to the firewall that wasn’t making a complete contact. My friend has my car and it still runs great and no starting problems.
They also use sheet metal screws and other tricks
What? Cut the pan? Of course: This car has an enormous value! It is amazing to see that you are surprized to see that a car gets bent, where it was hit and straight where it was not hit!
"Auto auctions (not) rebuilds" or "Auto auctions I replace masses of parts"?
Bummer it was so much worse then you knew about. Truck looks and sounds alot better now !
It's all part of this auction game. It happens. I should have looked at it in person first.
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds How much did the repairs set you back?

Check the positive wire to the starter. Had that fail on my 1997 expedition. Great videos.
Agree, the nut can loosen off causing the wire to have a partial contact.
Merry Christmas Auto Auction Rebuilds family from the Kaley's in Illinois
John is a nice guy, you can tell hè loves the Ford.
They have their flaws don’t get me wrong but yes I do.
You don't cut any pan out of the trunk. Get it pulled at a frame shop then replace the quarter skin.
BTW, I'm getting hooked on these videos, man, keep them coming, very enjoyable, can't even change a light bulb here, but hey.........
Pull quarter then chain the front down and hook a winch to the back. Then winch a little then hammer and repeat.
Brilliant tutorial I love the way you have shown all the bits good and bad
I wrote from the z day one that you should start with the quarter panel then you can decide whether you buy the parts for that front

I freaking love that truck man. Makes me wanna get one. Awesome find bro. Enjoy it
The body needs pulled and then hammered into shape and that cracked area needs welded. so it needs to be put onto a frame machine.
John is a good guy.
