What he said at the end is so true for many actors and performers. We second guess ourselves because we are trying to so hard to be authentic and real and we can never trust our own judgment of ourselves, always wondering if we seem fake or is everyone just telling me I’m good but I really suck...
Can someone please explain to me what John Krasinski means when he says “The moment that you say I can do this for real it’s the day that it’s all over for you.” 2:10 What does he mean by it’s all over? What’s over? Wouldn’t it be the beginning of this journey in going into this career?
My explanation would be, in this art you can never be completely sure you can handle anything. Overconfidence kills creativity. Creative people kinda always doubt themselves and this is why they always learn and grow to new heights.
Shannice Arrechea as soon as you think you KNOW how to do things it means you forgot how to learn and create things from the start. Some people think it’s good to master your art. But it could lead to all-looking-the-same things that you do (weather it’s playing roles, making music etc). So yeah. Basically he says it’s better to keep this adventurous spirit. Steve Jobs called it staying hungry - keep looking for something , stay out of comfort zone.
Some people are afraid of the confidence they have. There’s nothing wrong with firmly believing you can do something but you also have to be aware of the other side of it as well. If you are aware of rejection and just accept it the overconfidence shines through. That’s not only in acting that’s life
And, just like that, the next Michael Jordan was gone from our collective experience. Thanks a lot, Brown. We could be watching John dunk on LeBron right now.
Damn, if he had the will for basketball of Larry Bird, we prob would've been robbed of seeing Jim... how weird that would be to have someone else play that role. No offense to him, but, selfishly, I'm glad he's not a better player.
This guy is the best. I love his SGN channel. Seems like a real sweet, down to earth person.
SGN?
Acting puts you in a unique magical flow when you’re in the thick of it. That’s what I love about it the most.

The ending was quite deep and philosophical in a sense.
