Upgrade your RV TV: Replacing your 110v with a 12v Smart TV!

- To date, every television in a nuCamp RV has been a basic "regular" TV. Originally these were 12v televisions, but in 2023 they began installing 110v televisions meaning you could not watch TV without having your inverter on. So, whether you just want to upgrade your current 12v TV or if you want to rewire your 110v, this video will help you do that! We have demonstrated in our 2024 TAB 400, but the same strategy applies to other models.

Congratulations on the new tab 400. They are beautiful and I love the new woodwork color they are using inside. Can't wait to see the tab360 when it gets on the dealer lot. I love the 320, but all the things that didn't work for me all got addressed in the new 360.

I wire everything in my campers to run on 12 volts. Way more efficient than running an inverter to supply 120V AC. First thing I look for is a TV with a brick power supply (box) on the AC cord. If it has one chances are it will run on 12-14 volts DC. The voltage is usually marked on the back of the TV where the AC cord plugs in. I put a couple of14 volt Samsung TVs in our motorhome.

That's great! We are in our 70s and hubby and I enjoy all the older movies and tv shows that he finds on his computer. But our SMART son hooked up our computer to the tv,now we can watch them on the big screen tv! We still have an option to watch tv,but really not much to watch. At new years we can see all the celebrations around the world or watch utube shows.

You had no idea?, didn't sound that way to me. Obviously a little research and questions helped. So one thing I liked about this video was as the panels were removed and things started coming apart the build quality was revealed, seeing the better quality of materials plus fit and finish anyone owning one of these campers should be happy with their purchase.

This is awesome! I just checked and my tv is 12v so it looks like the install is plug and play. The Jensen that came with our T@B has terrible resolution and isn't SMART (like Kendrick). I just put this install on my ever growing mod list. Hopefully you can get Apple TV as that's much of what we watch.
One question and this may be kind of stupid but how does the tv connect to the internet on nucamp trailers? Do you just have to be in reach of a wifi connection? I assume so.
Yes, this would be a super easy and quick mod for you! Just order it and switch it out! You do need some kind of wifi... we have a little hotspot that we pay for service on, and we also just got a starlink. Depending on your plan, you might also be able to use your phone as a hotspot.
@@MandyLea On our camping trips so far we haven't really needed the tv. It may be that we don't use it all that much as we largely do weekend trips. I think for me the really big advantage is having higher resolution. Kaity has a hot spot from work that we could use though. Hmmm.
Our solution is to bring a 13” iPad and ignore that thing in the bed area. We can even watch movies outside!

I have a 2020 tab 400. Trying to figure out a tv that I can do option 1. The 12v dc input is the tough one for me. I’m struggling to figure which smart tvs use the same dc prong as the existing tv/wiring. Suggestions?
We bought the Sylvox 24" smart tv and are promptly returning it!! The sound is unbearable!
We have a 2021 400 with the 12v dumb television. Will this smart tv mount directly on the tv mount we have in ours? I know if fit your 2024 tv mount so I guess I'm just wondering if prior years had the same tv mount and this would bolt right to it?
Sorry for the delay! If your currentTV is the Jensen 24" then the TV installed in this video should fit in the existing mount. I don't think the 400 TV has changed in a while. I'm not sure, but I image TV mounting screw locations are probably in some sort of standardized location. I could be wrong though. It has happened once before!
How do we know if we have a 12v or 110
If your tv fires up when you are just running off batteries then it is 12v. Unless you have an inverter of course and have that on.
You can also see where it is plugged in. If it is plugged into a regular outlet, its 110
