Looks like Xiang was the only runner who did not knock down any hurdles. Tremendous discipline and muscle memory.
he seldom hit the hurdles during his entire career. that was his technique. not touching the hundles ensures constant high speed.
LOL the hundles
muscle memory😂😂😂😂
The guy in the last lane did the hurdles perfectly but wasn’t fast enough
He can definitely control himself delicately
There's a guy who went out there and wore his countries colours with pride and brought honour upon himself and his country . One of the greatest athletes in history this guy deserves so much respect
Couldn't agree more. That was absolute gold. What a moment.
not only countries, the whole Asia
I'm sorry but some asian countries are still implementing racism to east asians, especially the chinese, so only for china not for the whole asia @@soshelp4085

The Chinese owe him an apology
His reaction as he crosses the finish line is iconic

That was stunning. Gives me chills, what an athlete. Love from NZ.
It's a combination of joy and surprise that he won
I remember watching this live and thinking during the twelve seconds..."Can he really do it? Am I really witnessing history here?" Then he crossed the finish line first; I was more excited for him than stunned. What a run!
I think I remember getting teared up about him winning.
Dude, that was an incredible moment in Olympic history. One of my favourites. Gives me chills. Love from NZ.
20 years later, Liu Xiang's olympic record still stands. No one ever came close to his record after him.
They actually beat this record. It just wasnt done at the Olympics.
@@mykillshots664hence why he said ‘Olympic’ record
@@garywilliams5402 yeah but the 2nd sentence was very ambiguous.
one of the greatest moments in olympics history
Agreed. This is easily up in my top 5 although lol it might be because this was my first watched olympics as a kid 😂
Either way Liu Xiang's win was so exhilarating
I agree. That gave me chills. I don't know why it has such a strong impact on me but it does....I love it.
my favorite athlete. love you champ. love from India.
he is handsome

Are u currently working in Malaysia Saravanan.?
He is the hero of asia
无论看多少次,都会热泪盈眶!!! 真的不容易!!!
Or is 12.91 !
He was the hero we needed, but not the hero we deserved😭
It brought me to tears when I came across the moment again in 2021. Such a great athlete!
Me too my friend, and I'm from NZ. I thought it was absolutely stunning. Classic Olympic moment.
what makes this even more remarkable is zero hurdle fell on his lane; where others toward their last hurdles are lowering on hurdle to catch up and hence basically dragging the hurdles, he was still hurdling high.
Good observation
As an asian myself, Liu Xiang was my inspiration for track hurdling, and still is. I look up to him greatly, and his falls and injuries are just a reminder of how important it is for athletes to stay safe.
He should have won more major titles, he was unlucky with injuries and getting hit by his rivals!
thrillamf Under pressure he was the best I ever saw(except maybe Lee Calhoun). In an event like the 100 it is probably harder to set an Olympic record than a world record due to the pressure to make it thru the heats and finish the final.
also China and the Chinese government were putting him in the spotlight and there was so much pressure that he felt he couldn’t do it he next Olympic Games so he ended up walking off
@@emmaxiang7431 No, he had a chronic Achilles inflammation. He actually won gold in Athens despite this injury - the injury had been intermittently flaring up since 2001. Unfortunately he pulled his Achilles in 2008 and thus required a 13-month surgery and recovery.
@@emmaxiang7431 Yes! Being an Olympian got a lot of lights on you, and with that amount of pressure, you're geared to win or your life will go downhill.
So, with the amount of pressure on him, it was way heavier than Athens, Greece.
被對手2次打手那次世界田徑錦標賽決賽真的很冤,到手的金牌飛了,唯一可以安慰的是,那位既是對手也是「朋友」的外國名將,最後被取消金牌,劉翔遞補為銀牌。
LIu xiang you are our honor forever
This guy is incredible,he didn't even knock down a single hurdle!
You probably need to clear each hurdle for the world record.
fantastic 110m Hurdles final
An asian man winning a gold medal in track is like a black man winning a gold medal in table tennis
lmao so true
Haha 😆
hahah
not exactly
just winning a gold medal in short track
More like a black man winning a gold medal in diving.
Oh my gosh, having form like that at 6’2” is unbelievable, what a skilled athlete
he never missed HURDLE,,THIS WAS THE FASTEST ASIAN MAN I HAVE EVER SEEN,,AND TIED THE WORLD RECORD,,,AMAZING.
Asians!!!
Watching this now, I can't help bursting out my tears. Liu Xiang, you are always the champion in my heart.
Respect from S. Korea
But he is from China

I was very happy when Liu Xiang won in 2004!
So did Andrea~
Yes, Me too, more than happy, since I rarely ever see an Asian Man compete in Track and Field before he did, and if there was one, I don't think it could be compared to this win.
"Hero" is not enough to convey your contribution. You are the greatest Chinese Athlete of all time. Thank you forever!
the dude ran like his life depended on it....glad he won!
if he lose the government is killing him lol. jk
olympians all run like there wont be any sunsets left on that day
Like every other athlete. Have you ever devoted yourself to something that every time you succeed, it's no surprise? c'mon.
Well China is a communist country like North Korea so yeah

I know i just love being chinese!
I watched this live and was totally blown away with this athlete magnificent performance.. he made it look easy..
Celebration ruined by bad organization ... You don't run the 110m hurdles final without the track being completely available for a parade celebration... A javelin thrower right in the way.
中国永远的骄傲。Forever pride for China.
Well done china
亚洲之光 ASIA STAR!
That gives me chills....What a moment. What an athlete, that was not even close really. 2nd place was close, not 1st place. Legend. Made his country proud that day.
12 years later still get emotional when watching this .. I totally remember the moment I stood in front of the tv, screaming and cheering, when I was 10.
One of the most inspiring athletes of our time.
Really historical. Can't describe my feelings watching this moment =)
Historical win in Olympic history. Liu Xiang is the proud of all Asia!
僕が世界で一番好きな選手。
Xiang deserves a star in the sky of great athletes
No matter how he performed this time, He has been a legend already, I am proud of him!!!
Amazing moment when I watched it at 2004. How he wins and celebrates made me shiver and smile. Hope London 2012 he does it again ....
I was watching this LIVE, I was shock when he won. Truly A Great Moment for Him, Now He will be remembered as ONE OF THE GREAT in Asia.
i was a hurdler. love it and the sport. but Liu n Colin J & so many others just took it a step further. beautiful
man's a legend forever. he was such a hero for me when I was in high school. good days
Heartbreak for Doucoure (looks like he was on track to finish 2nd; World Champion the next year, but never medaled in the Olympics). Fantastic from Liu.
He has put everything in this race. SO glad to see a guy from Asia winning.
He give me joy and put tear in my eye even 17 years later. Thank you my hero!
I was so praying for him to win and was super happy when he won... Great Sprinter....
That decade belonged to him.

This was the first Olympic event I had ever seen and I have watched all Olympics since then (almost every event that was televised, each day) , I probably started playing more of sports because of this. Thank you Liu Xiang
I remember watching this live and cried. Thanks for being such an inspiration Liu Xiang.

Won without felling any of the hurdles. Incredible stuff!!
I remember I cried so badly 😭 our hero, proud to be Chinese.
Seeing such agility and determination makes me proud to be human.
Salute to this man, he try his best and won
The greatest gold medal win for China/Asia.
Despite being Indian .. I love this guy... Great man.. We Indians and chinease are almost half of the population on earth .. But still one gold in athletics...
I've never seen someone so happy
Doge Decoco all olympic athletes are nobodys after their success except a handful (Bolt, Mo Farah, flo jo). Everyone else is a nobody
all those years of hard work, expectations and pressures, many would have cried there
Great gold medal. Still remembered this moment.
This was a perfect hurdles with an olympic record.
Did anyone realize lane 1 knocked down every single hurdle.😳
Vera Du He didn't knock the first one down
Vera Du at least he didn't get dead last XD
Vera Du He was trained to do so, and he failed the training for the first hurdle.
looks-like-kristof the guy who came last was very unfortunate, he was tagging Xiang every step until the lasst.
+Taxidermistification yeah, he could have won a silver. Thats a heart break moment.
He turned on the afterburners at that last bit... really well done and I'm happy to see some front slow mo - you can see every ounce of energy being exerted.
'ive never seen a more deserved winner!
liu xiang is the man! such a great athlete.
One of the happiest olypic winners
No one else ran a flawless race. What a race man
Come back, we love you. Don't push yourself, to be the original status without pressure. That's YOU!
I'm black, and I'm actually happy for this Guy. He really have proved that Asians can do it, despite all the stereotypical comments about Asians
Liu xiang!a real hero!who ever said yellow race can't qualify in finals in 100/110/200m?Today I proved!I am the Olympic gold medal!中国有我,亚洲有我,世界有我!
It's a shame Liu Xiang was really unlucky with lots of injuries during his career. He could have gone on to win so much more. Roll on 2015 when he makes his comeback.
vXRoscoXv Performance enhancing drugs is why he was "unlucky" with injuries. His tendons couldn't cope with the load put on them by his leg muscles which were stronger than his natural body, tendons don't get bigger and stronger with Performance drugs but muscles do.
It is very irony. When Usain Bolt won the 100m race, no one stopped him from running around the stadium to celebrate. How can another event handled on the same time when the main event track event ongoing? He just about to celebrate his winning, and the official stopped him but no one stopped Usain Bolt. LoL. Seems unfair. Just saying
))
I think its because they were doing something with the javelin throws
dude there could have been a chance of some sort of javelin injury lol
***** word I think he was gonna get in the way of the javelin thrower
Beruk Bogel Dummy,this was 2004 Athens,Bolt's was 2008 Beijing.
gosh i cried so bad when he fell at the london olympics , its like a dream crushed. but he is still remembered for the first Chinese men to win the race. 刘翔我们因你而自豪!!!
Incredibly flawless performance. It is so sad that he wasn't able to compete in 2008 in his home country.
Wait why
+Yoyocube injury. He also missed the 2012 Olympics because of that.
+Shaoyu Wang :c
I almost down-voted because of that disappointment... Would have been a fairy tale
Someone tell me what happened
0:37 Javelin guy: oh no, he's coming for my javelin!
the most valuable win for Chinese of all time. He didn't just outrun the others, he outran them by at least 20ft. Winning on a short track by 20ft on Olympics Final is like Winning a 4:0 over teams such as Germany, Brazil, Argentina, France on World Cup Final!!!! How valuable this is... One single gold medal vs. the rest of the gold medals China got all time combined.
到目前為止,這場比賽是歷史上最精采的奧運110米欄決賽。
love him, truthfully, Tears in my eyes that his career has been hindered by injuries. Glad he married the woman he loves, tho.

1:41, the moment he realized he was going to win olympic gold, the look on his face. Wow.

his start was incredible
Love the celebration, the pure joy of a breakthrough.
He's our hero, ever
Liu Xiang was the only East Asian in this hurdle race and beat all Blacks who are genetically advantage for the hurdle race. Pan Zhang Le also the only East Asian in the 100m freestyle swimming race and beat all Caucasians who always won the swimming game in the late 20 years. I am so proud for Liu and Pan.
I can still recall the feeling 9 years ago. Liu Xiang is a legend however people judge him.

Who came here to watch this after Grant Holloway? Liu Xiang is my favourite!
