I definitely feel like having a QB who can squat the weight of roughly 2 defensive linemen might contribute to having success with a play that is basically just pushing the DLine 2 yards back
Also having a center like the great Jason
Kelce.
Ya they got a lot of things working for them
EDP 445 loves the touchy pushy
I think it’s because the whole o line is spearing the d lines knees. It is a legal play but the fact is it is a dirty play. Players are getting injured on it all the time so I personally am not a fan
As a Dallas fan I think it’s BS with them trying to ban it. I hate it’s unstoppable but good for Philly they got innovative. There is always something new and teams are smart and will eventually figure out a way. It’s just new version of the wildcat.
"It's not a Rugby play."
" We just brought in a Rugby coach to teach us a Rugby play"
It’s a legal play get used to it
@@Jspnj85guarentee you it’s banned next season. I’d be surprised if eagles even make it past the wildcard round this year. Get ready to CRY EAGLES CRY ON THE ROAD TO LOSINNGGG
@@Jspnj85pushing the runner from behind used to be illegal. that can happen again
@@Jspnj85 look up assisting the runner penalty. Also defense isn't allowed to do it.
It's also illegal on kickoffs
@@poisonpotato1 lol
It’s the o-line, it’s jalens legs, it’s coaching, it’s literally everything you listed. There’s a reason nobody else can do it. It’s not a cheat code, they just have everything it takes
Completely wrong
The eagles are the only team that knows how to scrum.... a rugby team will beat a NFL team 10/10 times when it comes 4th n inches lol

It seems they lost what it takes, what happened to the eagles this season man
The secret is Jalen Hurts being the only QB that we know that can squat 600+ lbs
Never skip leg day ladies and gentlemen!!!
💯
Very true 😂
Also, Jason Kelce. And Mailata. And Lane Johnson. Pretty much our entire starting O-Line
Fck why are we all here then? Off to do leg squats at the gym 🏋️♀️
he has hurt knee
Mailata has said, it has nothing to do with Rugby.
Yea it's a Philly Jawn
Kelce said it best, "we just call it a QB sneak".
Sure looks like a rugby play.
@@Calmlysmoke420 Looks can be deceiving. It's just a QB sneak. Punting kinda looks like a rugby play too by that logic.
@@Calmlysmoke420have you ever played Rugby?
All the things you mentioned work perfectly together. Kelce said it best.. if he is moving forward and his pad level is lower.. it's successful
AKA try and break some knees
All of those things combined make it successful!!!!
It’s clear as day the o line is moving fowards with momentum and people pushing from behind
“I’m going to put a big circle ⭕️ in the thumbnail then state the obvious and pretend I solved a puzzle…”
He really didn't even say anything lol
The fact the offense knows the snap count combined with Hurts lower body strength and the best line in football are the top reasons it works. Knowing that snap count is crucial for the initial surge. It would be successful even if it wasn’t pushed from behind.
Precisely!!! Timing is the difference if everything else is equal
Everyone fails to stop it because they think they’re going to run behind the center, hurts is peeling off to dickerson’s side most of the time
It's no secret, it's on film every week and nobody can stop it lol
How do you stop olinemen from diving at your legs wrapping up and tackling you? I’m curious. For the record I’m not salty. But that’s basically how the play works. Nothing in the rules against it so go ahead and keep doing it.
@smellzsf7628 if it was as simple as that other teams would have figured out how to use it by now
Because defense isn’t aloud to group together and push each other.
@@zacharyradford5552 excuses.
@@smellzsf7628it’s almost tripping techinally. But it’s legal play
The Eagles players are hip to hip and they stay together, they're pushing to the center. Having huge powerful dudes might also make a difference.
Watch the eagle o-line, they get low and underneath the defenders shoulders and almost bear crawl the first step or two and then push forward while the center appears to generally pick one side to twist towards, allowing hurts to go behind him, guaranteeing a yard or two at the very worst. Combine that with the backs pushing forward on the line and hurts at times, allowing for a few extra seconds for the pile to move forward. It’s just great technique, plain and simple. It’s almost like watching Tom Brady do the QB sneak back in the day. He was a master at it and Hurts may be the new master at it now, maybe even better than Tom was in his prime. If Hurts stays healthy his career and he keeps improving as a passer ( not saying he is bad at all ) he could be one of the best we see for years to come. Hope he doesn’t plateau like we are seeing with some of the guys now, like Mahomes, Allen and Burrow, who all seem to be stuck at a point where they are not getting much better then they already are. But only time will tell. Could be coaching issues with those guys, could be defenses are getting better, could be the NFL wants something specific to happen this year and are making it happen ( Flacco farewell superbowl MVP tour ? ) 🤷♂️🤷♂️
It’s the people who push from behind!
I've watch how Kelce snaps the ball he lines up well over the ball when it comes to the tush push, which might give him the advantage to snap the ball and get his hands up in time to push the man across from him, regular snaps he's got his arm out further ahead of him, I may be wrong but ive watched the play a lot really close to the line and its hard to say when the ball is snapped because of all the mayhem so I've also been looking at the line before the snap and I've seen Kelce's stance is well over the ball when it comes to this play
As a longtime Eagles fan I absolutely love our Brotherly Shove/Toosh Push play! That play works 99% of the time every time we call that play! Fly Eagles Fly🦅 Go Birds🦅🖤💚
Go Birds!! 🦅
Loss to giants😂😂
I like to call it the Rump Pump, but that's just me.
@@justinramirez5059relax every good team losses to a bad one once in a while
It also helps when your center moves the ball forward an extra half yard forward pre-snap. He’s finally being penalized for it calling it a false start.
One of the guards for the eagles played pro rugby in Romania. And football was also designed of off rugby, so I can see why it works well, I also see a lot of things that could be brought over to rugby that would make the story better. It's cool to see the eagles thinking outside the box for this one
In rugby the term Scrum is “rush push”, and having a professional rugby player teach it the proper way helps a whole lot in the grand scheme of things
Having a quarterback, that's one son of a gun and it's not afraid to take a hit. And having coaches in the person now to perfect it.
That’s why I love the Eagles
Or maybe because Kelce pushes the ball a yard further before the snap 😅
then it would be offsides dummy 💀
Run the tape, boys. He's been moving the ball presnap all season. If you ain't cheatin, you ain't tryin, but still, he's cheatin.
Big facts 😂
Move the ball up or not, the QB is still the same distance from the line of scrimmage when he gets the ball so moving it up really doesn't do anything.
@trentbrubaker7301 Wrong. It's not about the QB. It allows Kelce to get lower, giving him more leverage and preventing the defense from standing him up. Hurts basically slides over the top of him, and the guards.
Sounds like the keagles should have used that play more the last 6 weeks if it works so well.
Just because a team has a very well-working play that other teams just can’t figure out, doesn’t mean that it should be banned. “Well we can’t stop this play so let’s just ban it.” That’s just ridiculous. And this is coming from a Ravens fan, I don’t even like Philly!
Buccaneers can stop it as long as Vita Via is healthy. Key to stop the monster D line man which used to be fairly common but is missing in NFL now as faster more agile D line men preferred.
Kelice had a rugby player on their show new heights And the rugby player said it has absolutely nothing to do with rugby
If there is a secret, let's keep it!
Funny thing is, it is not a secret. Plenty of video out there and not one team has done it correctly.

A Combination of all 3 Guys, makes it our Signature Play. Other teams fail when they try the Brotherly Shove and Fail. That's why it's called the Brotherly shove not the Cowgirls Shove. It fits Philly,so All will hate on the Play. Goddard once said to all who try to stop it,(Get Your Weight Up)!

Jalen squatting 600 and oline technique I see Josh Allen running there version called the bobsled ahahahahaha
I can't believe this hasn't been thought of before
It’s still crazy to me that people are literally trying to ban the “Tush Push”. I’m not a Eagles fan but it’s not their fault they got one of the best O-Line, a QB that can squat god who knows how much I can’t really remember it, and a rugby coach that taught them how to do it perfectly. It’s not their fault that the fans team Defenses suck at stopping the “Tush Push”. Like it’s just a good play and everybody knows that it’s going to happen at the 1-yard line in the red-zone.
The heart dedication and desire this team has
It’s the most “football” football play ive ever seen in my life. Anyone that disagrees isn’t a true football fan
Nothing in this short had a fact to why it works... It works because of how low the line go and Hurts
Tush push most creative play in our playbook
Defense strategy is the solution to stopping the push
It requires power and size also Bucs use their monster Via Vita who can push two Oline men back almost instantly even the Eagles ones. Then with time given other defenders can get in from the side and grab the QB and pull away.
We make it unstoppable! Go Birds 🦅 Cali Loves You 💚💚💚💚

Go Birds!!!
if it was a regular qb sneak theyd still hate it
He would release this video hours before the game in KC.
Some birds fans have bird brains.
Like they’d see this lol. Either way they didn’t stop it.
Tampa Bay certainly figured out the Tush Push during these NFL playoffs!
Yep first get one of the old school monsters like Bucs Vita Via. Someone O line must block with two and they still get pushed back. These type of D line men used to be fairly common but they mostly gone away for lighter faster D line men.
The ultimate tush push
It’s funny that some people think it’s because the center places the ball a little ahead doesn’t make sense to me tbh. Like I get ball placement is important but if everyone is already lined up on the original line or scrimmage why would it matter where the center holds the ball?
I thought they were gonna point out that Jason Kelce puts the ball a foot further forward than it should be, to knock the whole defense back a foot off the true spot. 😂
For those who dont know when football was first established it was played by two colleges princton and rutgers back in the 1800s and was a combination of soccer and rugby rules
1. Ball shape inspired by rugby
2. Goal poasts inspired by rugby
3.Running with the ball and foward pass(introduced in later years) inspired by rugby
4.Tackling inspired by rugby
5. 11 man teams inspired by rugby
😅 football is technically just rugby with armor and a twist in the rules
The whole tam works together on that play
Luv this video man🙏🏆
Thanks!
The left tackle was a professional rugby player
want to stop it, get a proper nose tackle and you will need heavier guys to jamb the middle because it's a scrum, hence you need your linebackers to jam it.....they cannot come in high or they'll get blown
back
You’re telling me that they brought in a new coach specifically to perfect one of their many plays in the playbook
The brotherly bump
Bucs stopped the tush push and shut the vet down.
You also forgot an ex-Rugby player in Mailata.
And even he says it has nothing to do with rugby lol
The secret is it’s ran to the left side and Jalen rides the wave of Dickerson and Mailata, and then the pushers help finish it off. Other teams fail because they run it directly behind the center who’s getting the brunt force of the entire defense.
The comments that say "it's all of those" are basically right - it's just hard work and putting the puzzle together. However, I want to shout out an additional piece that hasn't been mentioned in the video and that is the freakishly fast snaps of Kelce. If you meassure the time from the ball first getting off the ground to Kelce already being in full tackle position after the ball has left his hand, I think he would top the league by a mile.
He is very humble about it and said on his podcast "oh? you mean the every QB I ever played with hates how I snap the ball snap?", but in my opinion it's an important detail.
“What do you think makes it so unstoppable?”
Uhh, everything you just said 😅
Obviously what you said. A qb who squats 600, a legenday center and the best offensive coach in the game is the reason that works
Im glad im a philly native
How did that go in the playoffs ?
You could use the tush push every single play of the game and score 42 points.
Do it vs Bucs with healthy Via score zero points.
Swole Batman in there
💯
Kelce is moving the ball forward every time until they finally get caught smh 🤦
As a person who hates the Eagles... it makes no sense to ban this play
I just miss Jason kelce 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It’s a well placed 👍🏽 that allows Jalen to get the first down every time 😂 Go Cowboys! ⭐️
Not only that yall remember Jordan mailata used to play rugby before the eagles signed him
To be fair they executed the tush push with the eagles backup. It worked more effectively than any other team that attempted it even with the backup for the Eagles in. I will note it didn’t seem to work as fluidly as it did with hurts but that doesn’t mean it didn’t work effectively because it still worked fairly well. Take what you want from that
True!!!😮
Came expecting an analytical answer behind the scheme, left empty handed
Bucs: "Yes."
Nice play Fuller
Love how bro talked abt the connection to rugby anr just left out Jordan mailata
As nothing more than a fan with zero expertise at all, i can see one glaring difference between the way they do it versus how other teams do. The line just stays so much lower, they barely even pick their heads up and keep the shoulders super low. Other teams seem to try and stand more upright to get a push, but instead end up giving the defense more of their body to to get a hold of and penetrate the backfield.
Not to mention Kelce scuching the ball a half yard up every play 😂
You said you know.....but right now they need more than a tush push....
I think what makes it unstoppable is that There lineman are strong so they can push them to make a path.
Because they have lane jonson and Jason Kielce
Fr fr it starts with kelce they talk about how fast he snaps it so jalen knows when it’s coming but nobody else does I feel like Jason and jalen get that better push because they snap the ball quicker then most center an qb duos
What makes it illigal is they push the ball carrier that all they can push others but not the carrier
To me it’s the center that makes the play. The whole defense has to react to the snap while the center knows when he is going to hike the ball. Slight advantage every time.
❤🙏🦅 win or lose but I sure do love it when we win.
Y’all notice how jalen’s rarely ever physically on the ground for these plays, right? He’s not doing anything. He’s the vehicle getting pushed along by his backs, not the guy doing the pushing.
Yea you nailed it. A strong QB and a hall of fame center is the right answer. Id say Kelce has more to do with it more than anything else
I think it’s assessed full, because the one mango for the knees, and they all fly backwards
It's like Bruce Lee's 1-inch punch.
Imagine troy polamaloui with the tush push
Jordan Mililata (a professional Rugby player) has even said these 2 plays are NOTHING alike so stop comparing the Brotherly Shove to a Rugby play
It technic with strength that makes it unstoppable. If you disregard any part you will find failure..
In my opinion the QB sneak is the purest example of what Football is at least when it comes to run plays.
yes its the oline, hurts n the backs pushing him, but it comes down to timing. Eagles control when the ball is hiked and know what count to go on and practice moving as one unit. so they all move forward at the same time. The def doesn't know when the ball is gonna be hiked, so they'll be inconsistency in the d line. Some reacting later/softer to the o line moving together as one. A soft gap will open up either on left, right or forward and its jalen's job to see that and aim for it. then the te/rb behind him push him forward.
It works so good because jalen hurts can squat 600 pounds
All you gotta do is set up a scrum. It's literally built to defend the outside and control the middle.
If you look closely at one of the tush push or the brotherly shove, you can see Dallas Goedert assisting the runner which would be a flag.
That embarrassing all those team can’t stop it!lmao
Counter with defense coached by Rugby coach on how to win a scrum. Lower leverage and churning legs instead of submarining.
If you notice in the other videos the linemen don’t fall they try to block but with the eagles they all fall and make a pile
LETS GO EAGLES 🦅 ITS A PARTY IN MY CITY
Kelce has been caught moving the ball forward (or shown to be without penalty) more times than all other centers combined. Stealing half of the distance needed before the snap certainly doesn't hurt your chances.
My issue with it is that it was not allowed to push the ball carrier forward until recently. It's not a matter of making it illegal or not. It's about restoring the longstanding, original rule. The ball carrier must advance the ball. Same for all those open field scrums. You shouldn't be able to get help running the ball.
Most modern rule changes are about making the game either safer or shorter. This achieves the opposite of safety.
teamwork
Best oline coach or just simply best oline in general. Eitherway shit a cheat code
