An icon of odissi, her patisri the great classical singer pandit suromani Sri Raghunath Panigrahi whose voice too has great impact on odissi. Geet govind songs sung by well known singers like Yesudas, ghantasala and so many but none of the voice matches so sweet like suromani. I don't know whether he got any national award but it was Telugu movie song (chalani raja o chand mama)a big hit but was not given chance lest their ghantasala affected. Chira namsya both.

Today's Odishi dancers' steps and mudras are entirely different from what she is doing..... As I see her I get to know that Odishi is much more than what I am seeing today..... Today's dance is just limited to some handful of steps and mudras and mere repetition of those steps only.... merely 1/10th of what she is doing....
