That’s Kevin Moore on the keys.

He’s the keyboardist with a soul. Unlike Jordan.

Jordan came in on Scenes from a memory, after working with Mike John P on Liquid tension Experiment.

That part that you’re referring to was guitar and keys in unison.

the enigma that is Kevin Moore. The level of atmosphere he contributed to the DT sound was so good.

Try Nightmare to remember or count of Tuscany, probably a little more what your looking for. A lot of scenes from a memory album also.

Scarred is one of my favorite proggy songs of theirs. It's very underrated

DT are famous for their unisone parts. So when you say "Thats keys right?" thats correct, but it is also Petrucci on guitar

As some has said this is Kevin on keys but that keys break down where you asked if that was just Keys, it's also Petrucci playing note for note along w/ the Keys. I've seen them play this live quite a few times w. Kevin, Derek and Jordan and every time that part just gives me goosebumps as to just how tight they all are.

I think the most Prog song on the Images and Words is: Metropolis Part I: The Miracle and the Sleeper. Great song, lotta time changes.. its a really good journey of a song.

Seeing the songs of DT you've already covered, it still lacks some of their albums. So I would suggest Stream of Consciousness from Train of Thought, In the presence of enemies (part I & 2) from Systematic Chaos, or any of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. The title track is fun, but is 40 min long (their biggest). If you'd like a smaller one, tracks 2, 3 and 4 are quite different but all very good. Or the 1st which is the start of Portnoy's Twelve-step Suite (very metal-ish).

If you want proggier stuff, I'm thinking maybe The Best Of Times would work well, along with the fact it has a lot of people's favorite Petrucci solo, it's not really heavy. You might also want to check out the title track from their album Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence, but it takes up the entire second disk of that album and is around 40 minutes long, divided in 8 parts, but that's probably the proggiest DT track you haven't done yet!

I recommend taking a look at the new band, Nospūn (maybe the song Within the Realm of Possibility). It's like Haken and Dream Theater went back in time 20 years and trained their successors. Besides VERY obvious influences from Dream Theater and Haken, it also has flavors of Devin Townsend, Circus Maximus, and I think some Seventh wonder too. It's the best debut album I have heard. Ever. (and I don't say that flippantly)

    Lines in the sand
    Trial of tears
    Raise the knife
    Solitary shell
    Lifting shadow of a dream
    To live forever
    New millenium
In the presence of enemies pt1
    Only a matter of time
    Never enough
    Sacrificed sons
    Take away my pain
    The best of times
    Breaking all illusions
    Beneath the surface
    The Looking glass
    Barstool warrior
    Transcending time
    Goodnight kiss
All these are more prog than metal, but i recomend to begin with lines in the sand and trial of tear both are masterpiece of prog.
