saying Simo was a "deadeye" is the understatement of the century man went and got 570+ kills with his rifle, and that's just with his rifle that he could confirm, he didn't keep count of the SMG kills he had an artillery strike called on him personally when the soviets learned he was nearby, which is why he looks so messed up, he caught a hunk of shrapnel in his face as a result
I'm inclined to agree with that strategy for the simple reason that beam weapons are only powerful in the early game. Except for the party laser on the federation cruiser.
I got one where I won with the glaive beamon my very first run with it, and then a lot of frustration. I don';t know if I've gotten to the flagship again with it. Think I gave up at some point. I think if you find a shop in sector 1 with a laser weapon, your idea is a good one. But too often, I don't find such a shop.
@@emzetkin1100 Halberd beam is very good on the flagship, provided you have lasers to remove enough shields. Only good beam (except artillery) but really, really good beam. I would say the mini beam is good if you get it with a ship, but it drops off fast.
Kinda shocked to see the Stealth ship A placed anywhere but in the S-tier of ships. It's starting weapons although unassuming are pretty darn solid for the first few sectors due to their fast reload speed allowing them to end most combats before the other ship can even fire (thanks to stealth). Great Vid. You're most likely correct about the DSR-12 being based off of Mass Effect's Normandy SR1/2, as the Normandy (in Mass Effect) is a prototype stealth ship created by Human-Alien co-operation, just as in FTL.
Was the SR-1 a stealth ship? Because I thought they only added the stealth features with the SR-2; which was made by just humanity. First Cerberus, and then retrofitted by the Alliance.
@@VioletAeonSnowfield Nah, the SR-1 was stealth. That was Normandy's unique selling point in ME1. The SR-2 was also stealth, but Cerberus just doubled the size of like... everything when they built it.
I would put the Stealth A in A tier and Stealth B in the lowest tier. I have a video on my channel of a hard difficulty run with Stealth A in which i never bought shields, and it was super fun. Stealth B on the other hand, even pro players with thousands of hours of experience can't do much better than 50% win rate in hard mode, and i think that's their lowest win percentage on any ship.
Stealth B is definitely the weakest ship, but ~50% win rate is very exaggerated. I'd estimate around 90% is possible, although personally I've never lost a game with it including a few shieldless runs (around 25 games total). Lifesaburrito has more convincing stats from grinding it a lot, and he got just under 90%. Of course this is talking about the best of the best, not merely average "pro" players.
My first win ever was on a stealth cruiser. I got a teleporter, a Mantis and a Rock, and went HARD on upgrading engines. I only managed to get 3 layers of shields, but basically no one could ever hit me more than twice in a row anyway
Man, i know these ships aren't very good compared to the others in the game, but this line of ships has always been my favorite to play with My favorite ship in the game is probably Stealth B
I think the DA-SR 12 is actually following the naming convention of the SR-71/72 jet also known as the Blackbird(71)/Son of Blackbird(72). US military aircraft use a system compromised of letter(s) hyphenated with numbers. The letters determine the role of the aircraft and the number was to indicate the iteration of the aircraft (though the numbering rule has recently changed). I.e.: F/A-18 is the 18th iteration of a particular design and its role is Fighter/Attack. The reason i suggest it follows the blackbird in particular is because S normally stands for Anti-submarine but in this case instead means strategic. Making SR to mean strategic recon. The SR-71 is a hypersonic high altitude aircraft and is designed to be very difficult to detect. So it makes sense to use it for a stealth ship. Mass effect likely got the designation from the same place. I'll shut up now. Lol
Nah I don't want to sell the titanium casing I wanna combine it with rock plating Is it a good use of augment slots? No. Is it stupid? Very. But there is a very small chance I can negate all system AND hull damage. Get hit with a missile and go "nuh uh".
@honourabledoctoredwinmoria3126 a) not true at all b) opportunity cost. FTL is very much a bird in the hand game and being able to buy something now means not wasting runs to shops and giving you more time to explore sectors and get stronger for the flagship.
