This is a perfect example of what made Conan great and arguably the best late night host of all time. You think Jay Leno or David Letterman would let Steve Erwin wrestle and mount them on live television? Conan was willing to do anything for the laughs of his audience and didn't care if it made him look silly on national television. Really was a pioneer of modern late night.
Steve Irwin reminds me so much of my brother-in-law John. This is just how he conducted himself, he was a total mountain man, wild man, lover of animals.
This has been the best interview I have ever seen. I have never laughed so much in my entire life before. I cried tears of joy when Steve showed us how he puts satellite transmitters on crocodiles.
The thing people don't realize is that Steve would have been chuckling about his own death in a very good-natured way! He would have forgiven the stingray instantly, of course, and he would have been thrilled about the adventure. He loved animals so much. They were his life. As sad as his death was, for him to leave this world instantly in the ongoing pursuit of educating people about animals, well, it's the kind of death he was prepared for. And he would have been cracking jokes about it afterwards. I miss him SO much, but I'm glad we got to see what he was like.
