I’m 73 years old and I remember my parents serving up a turkey about the time I was 6-7 for Thanksgiving. Well I will never forget that us 7 kids found out that turkey was on the table and we sat and cried and no one ate it. I loved that turkey.

The other day we had a workman come by and I stood outside and talked to him for a while. My boy decided to eat one of my crochet hooks and one of my pattern books. He was so worked up he just needed to get his frustration out. He is lucky I love him so much and I understand lol.

My grandparents were chicken farmers. They are both gone now. I grew up near them. They lived just outside of Culpeper VA. It's sad, because their house is empty because my dad and his sisters can't be bothered to maintain the house or to even sell it. I haven't been home to visit since my Grandma's funeral. I wish my dad and his sisters would at least sell the house so someone can make it a home instead of just letting it go into disrepair. It is a wonderful brick house surrounded by woods and fields. It has a pool. The house needs updating but is a two story with lots of bathrooms and bathrooms. Anyway, chickens hold special meaning to me because of my grandparents. My husband and I have back yard chickens. I love your hair!
Maybe you could suggest they rent it out to a family. For just enough to cover any expenses the property generates. (I don't know if VA has property tax or homeowners insurance). And have maintenance and repairs as part of the rental agreement agreement. That way they don't have to sell it or maintain it and a family can have an inexpensive home.

My sister got chickens and a couple of ducks and a couple of cats and now she's on the farm taking care of those she just ordered a big chicken co-op. And got it put together, she's loving it. She gets eggs. She's happy for me. It would be a no, thank you for sharing.

The reason your mother couldn't get one in Michigan is probably because they are not normally hardy enough for that weather zone. Even in Northern Texas where I live (Zone 8a) they have a hard time thriving. Most are not winter hardy. They would have to be in a hot house environment in Michigan. (my hubby has worked in the nursery industry over 30 yrs) I love Lantana. My grandparents had a gigantic bush in their backyard when we were kids. We would string the tiny flowers and make necklaces and crowns and bracelets. Such fond memories.

OMG! My mom was a rooster and chicken collector. Growing up, our house was full of them. Any time I would find a unique chicken decoration, I would have to buy it for my mom.
I love MJ's patterns. One of my sons had the same problem about being skinny when he was 12 to 14 and was very self-conscious. Another of my sons and my daughter have always been plus sized. I have been both, lol. People have no idea what unkind words can do to people, especially in their formative years. My daughter, who lives in Canada, has been very ill with lung issues for 6 months and has gained a ton of weight. I'm on the 2nd wearable using MJ's patterns in a 4X for her. She wears the 1st one almost every day and I love that it helps her feel pretty in this difficult time.

It is always a good laugh rewatching those type moments that get captured on camera. A few months back we had a black bear come through our land and I could not figure out why a part of one of my blueberry bushes had made it near my front door. I continued to follow a path of blueberry twigs and limbs back to the bushes and thought some wind might have caused the damage. Watched my cameras and there was the black bear! The bear had been eating on the bush and then decided they wanted some blueberries to-go and ripped the bush apart and carried it across my land. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Sorry that Bentley ate your hibiscus. The reason your mother couldn't get one in Michigan is probably because they are not normally hardy enough for that weather zone. Even in Northern Texas where I live (Zone 8a) they have a hard time thriving. Most are not winter hardy. They would have to be in a hot house environment in Michigan. (my hubby has worked in the nursery industry over 30 yrs) I love Lantana. My grandparents had a gigantic bush in their backyard when we were kids. We would string the tiny flowers and make necklaces and crowns and bracelets. Such fond memories.

OMG! My mom was a rooster and chicken collector. Growing up, our house was full of them. Any time I would find a unique chicken decoration, I would have to buy it for my mom.

I love MJ's patterns. One of my sons had the same problem about being skinny when he was 12 to 14 and was very self-conscious. Another of my sons and my daughter have always been plus sized. I have been both, lol. People have no idea what unkind words can do to people, especially in their formative years. My daughter, who lives in Canada, has been very ill with lung issues for 6 months and has gained a ton of weight. I'm on the 2nd wearable using MJ's patterns in a 4X for her. She wears the 1st one almost every day and I love that it helps her feel pretty in this difficult time.

It is always a good laugh rewatching those type moments that get captured on camera. A few months back we had a black bear come through our land and I could not figure out why a part of one of my blueberry bushes had made it near my front door. I continued to follow a path of blueberry twigs and limbs back to the bushes and thought some wind might have caused the damage. Watched my cameras and there was the black bear! The bear had been eating on the bush and then decided they wanted some blueberries to-go and ripped the bush apart and carried it across my land. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

My uncle has has chickens and ducks for years. He retired a few years ago and his flock grew from around 100, to around 500.
Hibiscus flowers are so sweet in tea. Not my favorite, but I've never had hibiscus tea by itself without other leaves.
