    0:12 "No more circulation in Saigon, por favor?"
    A confused Chris Barns advocating against the circulation of contraband in Saigon.

    I miss the Chris Barnes "Era".

    On a technical level I feel like George is a better vocalist but regardless I think Chris fit Cannibal Corpse way better. I don’t understand how his vocals on this demo is what caused the band to decide to split with him.

      I think they just didn’t like his attitude, and how he was getting all of the spotlight. A little jealous probably. So they wanted to write lyrics as a band and Chris said no, they argued alot, these aren’t his lyrics so I guess he did give in, but ultimately I think they were just looking for any reason

      ‘These aren’t his lyrics’ … What makes you say that? Speaking to Corpsegrinder about CTK years ago, he said Barnes was not backing down and it came close to fisticuffs between Barnes and Alex….
      Keep in mind this was the ‘demo’ not, I’m assuming, what was laid down at Morrisound. That’s when the arguing about lyrics/vocal patterns began. To argue the bands side- you can see what they wanted on Vile- super fast vocal delivery that matched the riffs beat for beat, and Barnes either couldn’t or wouldn’t do that.

      They wiped what was recorded at Morrisound for CTK. It’s possible Barnes was one too many strong personalities in the band so they voted him out in favour of a guy who could growl faster/scream and who also would take a back seat in the creative process- George.

      Anyway… This demo destroys Vile.

      @@bumface1810 I agree. I’ve read somewhere that the band made the decision based off the vocals themselves or maybe it’s was in the documentary but that could be them just making it simpler for fans to understand than going into all the gripes they might’ve had with Chris that also lead up to it and the vocals not being up to expectation could’ve and probably was the straw that broke the camels back for them.

      Maestro DUDER For me Chris Barnes is the only Cannibal vocalist. The band just sounds better with Barnes.

      @@David_Downs it kinda fit for the punchy and abbreviated style of the bleeding though, what eventually became vile was such a radical change and those bleeding vocals just wouldn't have fit
      even people hearing this before the original album would be able to tell that something wasn't right, chris' vocals wouldn't have lasted very long and unfortunately his work with sfu was evidence of that

    does anyone have the lyrics?

    these vocals are not that bad but considering what he sounds like now maybe he was losing his voice while recording and the band saw the writing on the wall because SOME of the lows in this recording you can hear his voice breaking just not as dramatically as you hear it when he started doing more with SFU.
    Sucks because this demo is truly the best CC stuff there even is, in my opinion, this is great. But it was not sustainable with Barnes.

      Even the lyrics are pretty damn awesome and have that Chris Barnes edge of extreme viscera and brutality

    • @bumface1810
      @bumface1810 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think his vocals are outstanding on this. A little frayed at the edges, but he still sounds like a beast. Unlike SFU from Warpath onwards where the decline is more noticeable. I think CC fired Barnes one album too early. But hey,- we still got 4 Barnes albums plus this incredible demo so you can’t complain.
